Burned

in All Posts

I need BODY GLIDE so badly!  I have sports bra burn on my ribcage and I have a CamelBak burn on my back!

I cannot even EXPAIN how much that hurts! I’m going to buy Body Glide this weekend.  I’ve never used it but I’ve heard wonderful things!

Other than crazy chafing, I’m doing GREAT!

I cooked this lovely risotto for dinner tonight:

Which I "beefed" up (hehe) with some kale, cheese, and sweet potato.

And I have some of the Black Box wine:

I got the sample through Foodbuzz and then I heard about the You Got Boxed competition.  You have to videotape yourself tricking your friends into drinking box wine and film their reactions when they discover how good it is!  I "boxed" the Husband and my brother-in-law.  Now I just have to convince them to let me put it online! 🙂

Other eats of the afternoon included a random handful of granola and some watermelon.

My flight leaves tomorrow AM!  I’ll be maintaining a normal blogging schedule — I want to take ya’ll on vacation with me! 🙂

BOSTON IN ONE WEEK!

ugh.. I got that so bad last weekend bc I forgot to put on body glide! been reading your blog as much as I can keep up. I'm working on losing a few pounds post baby (6 mos old) and I feel like you eat a good amount so that calorie restriction/counting isn't the way to go. This has worked for me in the past but I'm looking to NOT calorie count. Let me know if you have any suggestions on how you lost and maintained weight! Natalie

Hi Caitlin, I'm not a runner but my former manager used to run marathons all of the time and she swore by Body Glide. She kept a stick in her desk drawer so she could put it on before her run home from work. BTW, I am SO excited for the Summit!!! Can't wait to meet everyone and to learn all sorts of new things. Have fun on your trip/s!!! See you soon!

I've never even heard of Body Glide. You learn something new every day!

Body Glide is a lifesaver!!! When I was running my first 1/2 marathon I actually thought I got stung by a bee because I had a terrible, stinging pain on my upper leg. Later I found out that it's just my thunder thighs 😉 haha. Definitely go get some!

Body Glide is the BEST in heat and humidity. Gotta get you some Glide!

Please keep us posted how the Body Glide works! I'm currently training for a marathon and am beginning to have some chafing problems as well. I was debating between just using Vaseline or buying some Body Glide. Will be curious to know what you think!

Oooo….Ouch! Yes, would suggest get yourself some Body Glide I have used it before and it works wonders!

  • theskinnyplate August 7, 2009, 7:35 pm

  • Samantha @ Mama Notes August 7, 2009, 7:36 pm

    should have worn sunscreen! 🙂

That looks painful- hope you're feeling better soon!

  • Lori August 7, 2009, 7:48 pm

Owww!!! that looks so sore! I have heard good things about body glide as well. I haven't had any chafing issues with running yet, but I am sure it will happen as my mileage goes up.

Just my two cents…I do distance running (10k, 1/2 marathon) and triathlon (spring and oly). I prefer vaseline for running and body glide for triathlon, but in the florida heat all my opinions might change too!

Body Glide is great! Trust me! I used to get it really bad in the front from my sports bra, but once I put it on, it works like a charm!

  • seesaraheat August 8, 2009, 3:46 am

Omg, ouch! Hope that heals up quickly.

Haha, I love the boxed wine trick, that is awesome! Have fun this weekend 🙂

    1. Body Glide is the BEST! I get the not-so-comfortable "chub rub" on my thighs (because I have thighs of steel!) and Body Glide makes it all better.

    2. Boxed wine can be totally good! Some of my friends made us a goody bag of snacks to take on the train during our honeymoon last year. It included a wine cube from Target with four wine juice boxes and it was actually very tasty!

Body Glide is hands down the best running purchase I've ever made! Once you get some, you'll never go back to long runs without it!

  • Heather August 8, 2009, 8:42 am

Ouch that looks painful. I have never tried body glide so let us know if it works!

  • eatingmachine August 8, 2009, 8:48 am

    have fun with your mommy!
i hope that burn isn't too bad on the flight-those can be very not fun.

Lundburg Farms is right down the road from me. I used to teach them CPR and first aid. Did I already tell you that? so sorry for the chaffing. OUCH. Yes Body glide is good. You could also tie one of your wicking shirts to the back of your camelpak so it goes between it and your back. That seems to help me.

  • Happy Feet 26.2 August 8, 2009, 1:18 pm

Definitely, Body Glide is a must. I had some friends who use Vaseline, but I prefer the BodyGlide, it's not as messy. Well worth the $$$'s.

    Caitlin,

It's so funny that you posted about Body Glide this week, because I wrote an ode to Body Glide on my blog last week!

It is a lifesaver. I tend to get really bad chafing between my legs and around my sports bra on any runs that are longer than 4 miles. I also use the Body Glide on longer bike rides, and even during my triathlons.

It comes in a deodorant-like stick and you just wipe it on.

I love boxed wines, because they keep better than bottles. I'm glad more people are getting over their apprehension (or flat out predigest) to boxed wines since many more "good" wines are being sold in boxes or with plastic corks. This is all due to a shortage in the world's cork supply and I am excited to seem many more wineries do the responsible thing of conversion to more reusable packaging such as the plastic corks and boxes.
