My Eyeball Hurts

in All Posts

I don’t have much to say in this blog post because all I’ve done today is sleep!  :(  I went back to bed around 10:30 and slept until 1:45!  I feel like I’ve been doing a lot of complaining on the blog lately, but I feel terrible!  My stomach acted up all night, my eye is swollen shut, and I have a headache.

Regarding the eye, I feel like I’ve scratched it.  It’s happened before and I know all I can do is rest and keep it shut as much as possible.  After rummaging in my medicine closet for a little bit, I found some antibacterial eye drops and have been using those, too.  I have a METRIC CENTURY bike race on Sunday; I need to see out of both eyes! *Gulp*

Here are my afternoon eats.  They are pretty lame because I don’t have much of an appetite.  Cereal around 11 (I woke up to eat, hehe!).

And "lunch" was eaten around 3.  I had a bowl of cherries:

And a egg wrap with a nectarine:

The egg wrap just included a scrambled egg and sprouts.

Time to go rest my eyeball! :)  Have a wonderful Friday afternoon!

Love your blog, Caitlin (even tho I rarely comment)! This post made me feel compelled to comment though since I am an optometry student (going into 3rd yr).

I would really suggest going to see an optometrist quickly for a check just because you are suspecting it was organic matter in your eye (a hair). The future eye doctor in me just really hates to see self-medicating when antibiotics can actually exacerbate certain infections.

I hope I don't come across as preachy, but I just had to get that out! 🙂
    LOVE the blog!

I hope you start feeling better! Make sure to take it easy today and get a lot of rest.

maybe find some shirtless pics of Edward Cullen to pop that other eye open 🙂

Do you wear contacts? I get scratches in my eye like that all when I sleep in them or my eyes get too dry and I have a hard time peeling them off my eyeball.

To make my eye feel better I take ice cold water and cup it in my hand, then dunk my eye into the middle and blink several times over and over again. The cold really makes the redness go down and eases the pain. I hope it helps you!

I am sorry you do not feel well! Please get better. I find it best to just lay around and read and watch tv when I feel like crap. Usually cures me!

I hope that you get better soon. I know that you must be getting antsy at the thought of your pending race.

Since you don't have eye insurance – what about going to see the pharmacist? Last time I had something like that I went to see them. They recommended something for me. Just a thought!

  • Rachel June 12, 2009, 5:15 pm

I'm sorry you don't feel well, Caitlin, especially with your race this weekend. Hang in there, okay?
P.S. SOOO exciting about your knees after your run, but I'm even more excited to see how you feel after you learn how to tape!! Just a suggestion…I had the same condition and discovered that I had a hard time effectively taping my knees myself (because of the awkward angle), so you might want to have your husband come with you so he can learn how to do it too. But who knows, it could just be that I'm incredibly uncoordinated. I really hope that you start to feel better soon!

Do you take ibuprofen often or just recently because of your doctor's recommendation? The reason that I ask is that I too get a puffy eye but I linked it to taking ibuprofen. Every time I would take it I would wake up the next morning with a puffy eye. Just a thought!! I use an icepack and the swelling goes down. FYI-Mine was hives under the eyelid which is an allergic reaction.

Ahh problems with the eyes suck! When I was sick there was a period where my eyes were swollen, discharging crap – ugh I wanted to cry. yeah, just keep your eyes closed and keep resting. 🙂

i agree with marian, antibiotics, even if they are just eye drops arent for use unless they are prescribed…the last thing you want to mess around with is unecessary antibiotic use OR your vision! anyways, loving the east as usual.

fyi, if you use google reader, my subscription has changed to http://www.hungryhungryhippie.com/feed
now…not sure why, but i was doing a little blog makeover and even though the address is the same (www.hungryhungryhippie.com) google reader wont update my new posts unless you change it. if you have any ideas as to wtf is going on with this please let me know. and if you dont use google reader, just ignore the last paragraph all together!

i hope you feel better ASAP. don't worry about being 'pessimistic' – it's better to express yourself and be in tune with your body. the egg wrap looks delish, especially with sprouts – great way to get in extra fiber 🙂

    Feel better!!!

  • Anonymous June 12, 2009, 9:26 pm

you should still think about going to the doctor – if you scratched your eye, that is actually considered a medical condition and should be covered under your health insurance. something like a regular eye exam to get a prescription for contacts would not be covered under your standard medical insurance. you don't want to mess around with your eyes!
