Too Full

Like a crazy woman, I set my alarm for 5:30 on a Saturday.  Determined to make it to the gym before work, I had laid out all my workout clothes, prepared the dogs’ crates, and even made iced coffee last night.  So, imagine how I felt when I checked the gym’s operating hours at 5:45 AM and realized they weren’t open until 8!


That’s the way the cookie crumbles! Guess me and the gym have a hot date this afternoon.  🙂


Breakfast was good, but it was TOO filling!  I started off with that iced coffee:


Which I couldn’t finish.


I followed that with some Amazing Grass:


Which I did finish.  🙂


And then I ate a bowl of oatmeal:


Which I couldn’t finish either!  I only ate about 1/2.  This is really unusual for me, as I normally inhale oatmeal and lick the bowl clean!  My stomach just felt off (and full of liquids).


My oatmeal contained:


  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 sliced banana
  • Toppings: cashews, almonds, and brown sugar


It was a delicious bowl of oatmeal; I just couldn’t get it all down (that’s what she said)!

    Liquids like those really fill me up too. I guess that’s why they say if you drink alot of water you can lose weight because your always full.

    Sorry about the fullness, smoothies do that to me too, I can’t imagine drinking one immediately before a meal!

    Ugh, our gym doesn’t open until 8am on Saturdays either! Don’t they know that some people don’t sleep their weekend away! 🙂

    Oh my gosh I have totally done this… on several occasions. i could just never get it in my head that the gym opens later on the weekends! Luckily I have switched to a 24 hour gym!

    So lousy about the gym. A+ for effort though. 🙂 I love my gym – open 24 hours. I can work out a 2AM if I want to! HA! Not that I would – but I could.

    I love the new pages!! Do you worry that you might be super hungry later on at work? How do you deal with that on days like this?? Bring extra snacks with you just in case?

    sloank – my hunger never really returned! i just ate lunch at a normal hour and i was fine. i did bring a lot of food with me just in case. LOL!

    Hi Caitlin, I’ve been following your blog for quite some time and have really taken a liking to it.

    I really enjoy the way you eat because it’s healthy and practical for day-to-day life.

    I love the updated pages but I will miss your old photo!

    I do have a question to add to your FAQ. I know a lot of your readers are already very fit, but what about some pointers for those of us who are less fit but want to start eating healthier and moving more? Your story is very inspiring and I think adding something for this segment of your readers would broaden the appeal of your blog.

    And, because of you, I had my first green monster this morning! It was really good…totally took me by surprise!

    Boo for the gym not opening until 8! That’s how mine is on the weekends, too…apparently only crazy people would wanna go at 5 am on a weekend 😉
