Quickie Workout

in All Posts

I ended up working at my full time job until 5 — a full 10 hours!  I only had an hour in between my shifts, so I couldn’t make it to the gym.  I wasn’t feeling the 30 Day Shred and decided to do my own version in my living room.  It was fun!

  • Jog in place with 3 lb hand weights – 1.5 minutes
  • Jumping jacks with 3 lb hand weights – 1.5 minutes
  • Military presses with 3 lb hand weights and right leg extension – 1 minute
  • Military presses with 3 lb hand weights and left leg extension – 1 minute
  • Bicycle crunches – 1 minute
  • Shadowing boxing with 3 lb hand weights – 2 minutes
  • Jog in place with 3 lb hand weights – 1 minutes
  • 10 push-ups
  • 6 decline push-ups
  • 20 reverse crunches
  • Dance in place to "Poker Face" by Lady Gaga – 4 minutes

  • Total Duration:  20 minutes (give or take)
  • Calories Burned: 140

I was thinking in the shower how I didn’t do this workout because I felt like I had to — I did it because working out makes me feel SO GOOD.  It calms my nerves, it makes me happy, and it gives me a mental boost.   Dancing in my living room ESPECIALLY makes me smile! :0

Just goes to prove that you don’t need a gym, a road bike, or a clear and sunny day to squeeze in a great workout!  🙂

we love to dance as well! the kids think it’s “crazy”

You’re so right! No one needs a gym (or money!) to get a good workout! you can lift books, lift your kids (lol), dance with your boyfriend (my fave) and a multitude of things outside of the “norm.” Way to go Caitlin!

I totally agree Cait! If you choose to have kids, you will also come to find that these types of workouts are more frequent. Not to hate on other moms, but I don’t think it really is all that great of an excuse!

Thanks for the ProBar info. I’m going to send a nice “sucking uppy” email.

Love dancing around in my living room! (Or bedroom, kitchen, whatev!). When So You Think You Can Dance starts, you better believe the whole show will be a dance along workout for me, haha. 🙂

What a fun workout! Sometimes I just love to crank on the tunes in the morning when I crawl out of bed and dance. now that is a great way to start off the day!

i love this girl.. you are absolutely right – there is a huge difference between working out because we feel we have to and working out because we genuinly want to.. glad you enjoyed your session today – it sounds fun :)!

I LOVE DANCING TO MUSIC!!! I do it all the time. I truly think that everyone should dance once a day!

  • Kiersten May 19, 2009, 5:44 pm

Sounds like a good workout to me! I like making up my own routine sometimes, the gym gets too boring sometimes.

LOVE IT! I often put on the 30 day shred so that I know when to switch moves, but I will choose what I do .. whether it is a Shred move from a certain level or just sprinting across my living room or dancing like a fool! Glad you got some fun sweating in!!

Way to work it in! 🙂 Dancing is one of the best workouts – and also one of the most fun. Great idea!

That looks awesome! I will bookmark this one. And is there anything better than dancing crazy to loud music? I think not. 🙂
