Fate!

in All Posts

I got out of my part time job really early, which was a lucky twist of fate… because when I got home, a puppy was sitting on my doorstep!

He was wet and cold (it’s raining like crazy in Florida), so I let him in, he barked at James, and he peed on my floor.  :)  Oh well!  He had tags, and I called his mommy — they were very happy to see each other again!

Dinner was, as usual, eaten on the run.  I ate a banana around 6 PM:

And a mini PB sammie while working:

I think my biggest challenge with this new and crazy schedule is making sure I get enough fruits and veggies in.  When I’m tired and rushed, it just too easy to eat another bowl of cereal or make a sandwich.

I made up for my recent lack of fruits and veggies with an awesome PLATTER that I’m currently munching on:

I had: blackberries, Sabra hummus, kale chips (roasted in oven for 6 minutes at 400 degrees), cucumber, and a sliced plum tomato.  ARGGGGGGGGGGGG I love vitamins!

Did you know the most commonly consumed vegetable is the potato… in the form of French fries?  Ick!

Boo, french fries suck. I also had a dinner based on fruits veggies. Butternut squash fries, apple and kiwi 🙂

I’m glad you reunited the puppy w/it’s owner!

I hate french fries, but I love to eat boiled potatoes… I think that to have potatoes in moderation is a good carb substitute!! I hope that you try out the little baby ones some time along with some chicken and veg… it makes for a great dinner!! 🙂

Poor puppy! Sad but unsurprising about the fries. We read a study in my physio class that said the average american eats like 1.25 servings of fruits and veggies a day. Crazy.

aw, i’m glad you were there to help that puppy!

i love the produce platter 🙂

i have a hard time justifying a plate of french fries as a “veggie”, but I’ve heard it from other people before!

yummy platter 🙂 i love how you eat several snacks and smaller meals. i prefer this too over 3 big meals. thats funny about the french fries, ive never been a fan of them but i guess its not too surprising with all the fastfood chains out there!

    1. That’s disgusting about fries
    2. KALE CHIPS–AWESOME.

Have you ever steamed kale? I did it the other day as a side dish. I had too much then I had it the next day cold as a salad base. It’s fab.

Hey Caitlin, I have to agree – eating on the run – I find it hard to consume enough veggies for sure. Fruit I am decent at with apples oranges and bananas but I hear ya

    Hey Cait-

Given your disdain for fat talk & your love of Jillian Michaels (so fierce), I thought you'd enjoy this video:

sad to think that dog was out in the cold wet rain! =(

I can’t imagine how stressed and exhausted you must be from working so many hours now and eating on the run so much – hope it gets easier for you to manage everything!

ps- just gave you a little shout out in my last post =)

I am so happy the puppy had tags so you could call his parents 🙂

Eating my fruits and veggies is something I really need to work on….it’s so easy to skip them when you are in a hurry.

  • redheadedjournal May 19, 2009, 8:38 pm

Glad you were able to put the puppy in contact with it’s owners!! 🙂

man I so have the same issue with veggies!! I love mags in her crate too cute. Question, what does Temph taste like and is it cheap?

  • Stacey May 20, 2009, 3:19 am

Ha. My class actually did a presentation on that, and I went to every 3rd grade classroom asking the children if they knew that fact!

Most of them didnt. You can’t call it a veggie if it is drenched in oil!

I’m going to have to disagree with a lot of the commenters here. I think french fries are awesome and delicious. I do think it’s sad that too many people eat them too often, but I don’t think that in and of themselves french fries are bad.
