My afternoon started off like any other:

Granola and Chobani

Melon

TLC Pumpkin Spice Flax

But after work, I decided to go meet up with one of my California coworkers, who is visiting Florida this week for personal reasons.  We met up with her sister, the Husband, and two other mutual friends at a nearby bar.

I REALLY intended to just have a salad and an iced tea, but before I knew it I had downed two beers (a Killian’s and a Red Stripe).

The beers definitely weakened my ability to make healthy food choices.  I ended up eating a side salad, French onion soup, and 1/3 of this amazing chocolate cake.

No pictures because I was with coworkers.

BUT, I had a really, really good time and it was a lot of fun!  I guess I just feel kind of "ehhhh" because I should be working on the holistic website AND shredding, and I’m not.

Oh well…. tomorrow is another day!

Do you happy hour frequently?  I have to admit…. mid-week happy hours are one of my favorite things, although I’ve cut down a LOT!

Have a great night!

    Mmm, granola!!

No worries – tomorrow IS another day.

  • Joy April 1, 2009, 5:38 pm

oh don’t worry about it! mid week happy hours are fun and you were meeting friends, plus you didn’t make increeedibly unhealthy decisions anyway 🙂

those pumpkin spice bars are SO delicious

Your meal doesn’t sound too bad at all – French onion soup is so yummy! I don’t usually happy hour as I am way too tired after to get through the rest of the day.

don’t be hard on yourself! Everything in moderation right?? once and a while a mid week happy hour is no sweat!

  • Rose April 1, 2009, 5:42 pm

How fun that you went out for happy hour! I never do that anymore. I think those choices are pretty healthy given the options. Don’t sweat it too much tonight – just sweat it out tomorrow 🙂

I also love mid week happy hours. And really, why not? Life is short, it is those kind of fun little outings that break up the mundaness that can set in during a long work week. Do not feel guilty at all, you had a nice time, and really didn’t to bad at all with your choices.

I don’t happy hour as much as I used to, and I do miss it sometimes. I always had a good time, and it’s a nice way to unwind and relax with friends

  • Brandi April 1, 2009, 5:59 pm

sounds like a fun night 🙂

we don’t happy hour very much ,but we always fun when we do!

  • Mara @ What's For Dinner? April 1, 2009, 6:00 pm

I love happy hour, but I rarely go, mostly because I end up staying out way too late on a work night!

  • sloank April 1, 2009, 6:07 pm

ps, is that your granola you made or store bought? What granola do you prefer when you buy it? I’m trying to find a good one I like… thanks!!!

I do Happy Hour!! It’s more like a Happy Night than hour! Last Friday…my friend ordered Pizza..and cinnamon stix! UGH!

  • Kimberly April 1, 2009, 6:17 pm

In NYC we did Happy Hour ALL the time – a much more affordable social event than going out to dinner! In FL not so much, because of having to drive home.

  • Matt April 1, 2009, 6:37 pm

    I’m not 21 yet! I wish I was though…

  • Meg April 1, 2009, 6:40 pm

    Yeah for mid-week happy hours!

  • Bec April 1, 2009, 6:41 pm

I love happy hour too, it definitely makes a dull weekday a little more exciting!

  • Lisa D. April 1, 2009, 7:17 pm

yay- cake! I am jealous of your happy hour, I’ve been a “working girl” for almost 8 months now and have NEVER been to happy hour. This was the thing I was most excited about after graduating college. Aw well

  • Oh She Glows April 1, 2009, 8:30 pm

I’m sure you’ve been asking this alot but I am wondering if any of your coworkers know about your website? I never felt comfortable telling any of mine. Just wondering what your thoughts on it were!

  • teacherwoman April 1, 2009, 8:32 pm

happy hours on friday’s get the best of me. That’s why I am cutting back. Being gone this weekend and next weekend should help with that “goal”!

  • Hallie April 1, 2009, 9:14 pm

I go through phases where I do a lot of Happy Hours, and then I won’t for weeks/months. I like them for the chance to catch up with my girlfriends, who I don’t see enough. I’d almost rather not drink when I go to HH, but I feel like I have to unless I’m in a BIG group (which I rarely am).

I’d love to think of some non-drinking things I could do after work with friends. HH is fun, but I’m really trying to save money AND the extra calories consumed are usually not worth it for the eats/drinks.

  • Kailey (SnackFace) April 1, 2009, 9:27 pm

You TOTALLY got me this morning. I read the post and though, hm, that’s bizarre but maybe they really just wanted something totally different. The real breakkie was better than anything BK could grease up!

I am just getting to know these Happy Hours. They really can brighten up a week/pooper day. It’s just nice to detach from all other stresses in an atmosphere that has nothing to do with your work. You still managed to make pretty good food choices, too. I’d be ordering fries 🙂 Have a great night!

  • luckytastebuds April 1, 2009, 9:57 pm

sniff I wish I had more mid-week happy hours, I’m actually jealous! Eveyrone needs a little break sometimes, and what better way to enjoy some drinks with great people?!? When I splurge, it’s usually alone, and HONESTLY that’s a waste! Yes tomorrow is a new day!!!!

angela – No, I will tell any friends about my site but I don’t think its a good idea to tell coworkers. It’s kind of like my boss having access to my facebook page!

  • runnerskitchen April 2, 2009, 4:40 am

Sounds like you had a great time last night! Instead of doing yoga, I ate nutella from the jar 🙂 We all have those days…

I’ve never actually gone to Happy Hour before, but I find I have been drinking more lately. I think with the warm weather people just want to go out for a drink or two and I always end up partaking!

  • LadyLara April 2, 2009, 11:26 am

That’s not a bad happy hour! I’ll show you a bad happy hour!

I love HH’s but I don’t go often because they are usually spontaneous, and I’m a freak about having to get my workout in. If it’s planned a day in advance, I will go!

  • katecooks April 2, 2009, 12:39 pm

i love happy hours and could do them every night if happy hour didnt mean excess food & calories no matter what! some weeks no happy hour, some weeks there are a few! it's hard to say no to a fun night of 2 for 1 cocktails and munchies with friends, you know??
