Ditching Class

in All Posts

Evening! I am so relieved that its Thursday.  Aren’t you? 🙂

Running Hiatus Workout #7

I decided to rush to a 6:45 spin class.  One of the things I miss about running is that sweaty, gross, smelly feeling.  Sweat = hard work in my mind! :)

I stayed for 45 minutes of the 60 minute class and then…. I ditched!  That instructor is great, but the music is always "ehhh" and I kept thinking about all the stuff I *could* be doing instead of working out…. Haha! So, I ditched sneakily out the back of the class.

  • Duration: 45 minutes spin class

Eats

Dinner was superb!  I haven’t made the sweet potato and black bean combo in so long, and I don’t know why.

CIMG4244

Just a simple baked sweet potato with about 1/2 cup of black beans on top.

CIMG4245

And a nice side salad.

CIMG4246

Mid-afternoon snacks were…

Crack cookies (the rest of which are now in the freezer and out of my mind’s eye).

CIMG4241

A juicy orange and a rice cake.

CIMG4243

Sorry to split so fast… but I need to watch The Office!  🙂 I love Michael Scott Paper Company.

Have you ever ditched a workout class?

SWEET POTATO!!! BLACK BEANS!!! Best combination (especially when mixed with salsa and spinach).

When I stopped doing cardio, I starting skipping zumba (so I still do that, haha).

Aahhahaha your comment cracked me up! :oP

I think that one wouldn’t go over so well. Kind of like when I first started food blogging and got up on a chair to take a picture of my dinner:

Him: *with a really weird puzzled look* “What are you doing?”

Me: “Taking a picture of my food.”

    Him: *silence*

    Me: “What!?!? Everyone does it!!!”

    :oP

I love sweet potatoes and black beans! I have skipped out of an exercise class early!

  • nibblesandwiggles April 23, 2009, 6:09 pm

I’ve never skipped out of a class, I would be too embarrassed. I have wanted to though ;).

  • courtney April 23, 2009, 6:13 pm

I have never thought of pairing black beans with sweet potato! I’ll have to try that.

  • Mara @ What's For Dinner? April 23, 2009, 6:19 pm

try some chili powder on your black bean sweet potato next time… seriously amazing!

  • DLap April 23, 2009, 6:19 pm

I have never skipped out of a class, but I have skipped going!!!
Once I am there I won’t leave, feel to guilty, but getting me there is the hard part!!!!

  • Bec April 23, 2009, 6:19 pm

thats such a good idea to put the cookies in the freezer!

  • Haleigh April 23, 2009, 6:19 pm

Sweet potato/black bean combo is seriously amazing!!

And I have definitely skipped out of an exercise class.. last week actually. Haha.. 🙂

  • Christina April 23, 2009, 6:27 pm

I use my college gym right now and there’s no free classes 🙁 I can’t wait to join a gym this summer and try out all the classes.

Goodbye Michael Scott Paper Company. I knew they had to get him back to Dunder Mifflin somehow! Yay!

You’ve probably tried this already, but sweet potato/black bean sammies are awesome.

Watching the Office is always a perfect reason to cut a blog post short! That show is hilarious.

  • Kath April 23, 2009, 6:39 pm

I totally agree about spinning – my mind drifts to my to-do list too much!

  • Matt April 23, 2009, 6:49 pm

I once ditched a spin class 10 minutes in because the instructor sucked. It was suppose to be a cross training day but I ran 10 miles instead. Haha. Much more productive.

  • Michelle April 23, 2009, 6:49 pm

    1. Living in Australia is bad because I don’t get to watch the office..can you please make sure to soak it in for me 🙂

    2. Yes I’ve ditched class before. Yoga.

At least you stayed for 45 minutes of it.

  • BethAnn Caputo April 23, 2009, 6:50 pm

Yes! I’ve ditched Zumba before…it was just bad, I have no coordination and it was hardly a workout. I went straight to the treadmill and sprinted four miles after!

  • HangryPants April 23, 2009, 6:57 pm

Oh spin… I thought you said swim. 😀

  • runsarah April 23, 2009, 7:12 pm

I've never tried spinning before, but I heard it is super intense, I don't know if I could last the entire hour!

I still need to try this popular sweet tater & black bean combo!

  • redheadedjournal April 23, 2009, 7:15 pm

I need to try the SP+black bean combo – sounds tasty!

  • Rachel April 23, 2009, 7:23 pm

I had angel hair pasta tonight and hadn’t had it in forever either- funny how your just ‘forget’ about some meals that taste so good!

  • Life Coach Jen April 23, 2009, 7:29 pm

I usually don’t go to group classes, but I have skipped out on workouts I’ve scheduled for myself, or stopped in the middle if I wasn’t feeling them! Hey, you still got 45 minutes in, that’s pretty great!

  • Mica April 23, 2009, 7:34 pm

I’m glad your cycling instructor didn’t call you out. Like, “HEY! GET BACK HERE!”

  • Dori April 23, 2009, 7:40 pm

YES I have ditched, a very hard dance class where I couldn’t keep up even though it was for “all levels” — I was so embarassed!

I’m glad you went to spin! I never had a 60 min class before but there’s special on on Tuesday with 2 instructors that I am SO excited for. 45 min is the perfect spin duration though! And I feel the same as you about sweaty = better workout!

  • livelaughlyss April 23, 2009, 7:42 pm

Hahaha ummmm, does ditching ACTUAL class count? Whoops.

Can’t go wrong with a sweet potato!

  • Oh She Glows April 23, 2009, 8:15 pm

I used to always ditch the last 5 minutes of stretching…lol. I get impatient and want to leave!

I LOVE the MSP Co. too. This episode was funny. As always!

  • ChickPea April 23, 2009, 9:54 pm

I swear, black beans and sweet potatoes were MADE for each other.

  • jesslikesithot April 23, 2009, 10:52 pm

Yes! A spin class actually, my friend and I stayed the first half but the teacher was playing old, country/western type music….definitely NOT music that gets you pumped up for some fun spinning cardio!!

The sweet p & black beans look amazing….I'm craving a sweet potato now!

  • cocoeatsandcritiques April 24, 2009, 5:16 am

I did it yesterday. Half way through though ahaha. I just wasn’t in the mood.
That sweet potato/black bean thing I may have to try!!!

  • Danielle April 24, 2009, 5:19 am

How have I never thought to combine sp and black beans!

  • Brandi April 24, 2009, 5:50 am

45 minutes of spinning is better than 0! 🙂

I haven’t skipped out on a class yet, but we only go to one anyways.

If we skip, we just skip the entire thing 🙂

  • eliza April 24, 2009, 6:14 am

yess..I tried leaving a spinning class after 30 minutes and the instructor yelled at me and told me to get back on the bike! SO embarressing!!

  • Red Head, Yellow Dog April 24, 2009, 6:23 am

love sweet potatos and black beans! ya know NC is a very big grower of sweet taters 😉

  • kirsten April 24, 2009, 6:29 am

I’ve definitely skipped out of spin classes early too. When the music is awful I have a hard time staying the entire 60 minutes.

  • Eat, Live, Love April 24, 2009, 6:40 am

hah! Sometimes you just gotta do what you’ve gotta do! I ditched class for the first time a couple of months ago. The instructor well… I will just leave it at that. The treadmill was calling my name:)

  • Suzanne April 24, 2009, 8:47 am

Unfortunately yes 😛 I used to take yoga at my local YMCA and there was one instructor who would make the room freezing!!! I never knew when she was going to teach and when she did I’d stay as long as I could but then my feet would get so cold I would just peace out… It’s been to stretch in the cold anyways so I don’t feel too bad 😉

  • Christy April 24, 2009, 8:49 am

I usually leave early during the week so I can get to work. The instructors never really mind. They just yell “Thanks for coming! Have a great day!” But I know what you mean about the music. If the music is bad and not motivating then the class drags on and my mind wanders. You just gotta find the right instructor! ;p

  • Foodie (Fab and Delicious Food) April 24, 2009, 9:58 am

The sweet potato and black beans sounds like a good combo! I’ll have to try it!
