Starbucks Pancakes

in All Posts

NEW OBSESSION ALERT!

CIMG3249

I mixed 1 packet of Starbucks Instant Coffee into my regular Hodgson’s Mill InstaBake Pancake Mix and the result was TO DIE FOR!

CIMG3253

I only added the Starbucks coffee to my half (1/2 cup dry) of the pancake mix because I wasn’t sure if Husband would be keen, so these little pancakes definitely pack a CAFFEINE punch!

CIMG3248

The pancakes kind of tasted like Starbucks coffee ice cream, actually!  So…. freaking… DELISH! (Can you tell I’m excited? And caffeinated?)

Maple syrup love:

I actually woke up on time to do Level 3 of the Shred.  Level 3 is truly a killer, everyone!  But it’s  a great workout and I’m so glad I’ve managed to stick with it pretty consistently for the month.  Only a few more days to go of the 30 Day Shred.

I don’t think I look any different, but my abs and arms are so much strong! Jillian is a beast.

Off to work I go!

What’s your favorite – coffee or tea?

I love level 3!! Seriously, I don't know why but it's my favorite. I feel like it's a killer but POSSIBLE. Level 2 for some reason did not mesh with me. Maybe I know the end is near and that makes it better… 🙂

By the way, really interesting article: http://www.nytimes.com/2009/03/26/health/nutrition/26best.html?pagewanted=1&_r=1&ref=fashion

Oww coffee in pancakes? I’m for it! I’m glad you’re enjoying the 30 day shred- Have you taken any mid way photos to compare them to your initial? Def a coffee girl!

  • Carolina John March 26, 2009, 4:12 am

cakes sound great. glad you’ve gotten enough caffeine already this morning, that makes one of us. have a great day!

  • teacherwoman March 26, 2009, 4:24 am

    Mmm… sounds yummy!

  • Adi (oatonomy.com - repaired!) March 26, 2009, 4:27 am

Great idea!! I think I’ll have to try making pancakes with brewed tea sometime…

  • Mica March 26, 2009, 4:30 am

I’m intrigued by this coffee-in-pancakes thing, especially after seeing what a peppy blogger it made you!

  • Ruby March 26, 2009, 4:32 am

Wow what an amazing idea! It also opens up all kinds of avenues…adding instant coffee to oother stuff. Hmm. Thanks!

  • Michaela March 26, 2009, 4:52 am

Coffee Coffee Coffee..it’s dangerous to talk to me in the morning until I get some!

  • itsawrapteacher March 26, 2009, 4:58 am

Such a cute heart dish. Flavored coffees are my fave in the AM but tea in the PM to wind down.

  • VeggieGirl March 26, 2009, 5:00 am

YOUR PANCAKES ALWAYS EXCITE ME!! 😀

I don’t drink either coffee or tea.

  • courtney March 26, 2009, 5:02 am

Great idea for the VIA pancakes!

  • Susan March 26, 2009, 5:04 am

Is there anything that coffee doesn’t taste amazing in?? Those pancakes sound delish!!

I like tea, but it doesn’t warm my insides like coffee does 🙂

  • Kimberly March 26, 2009, 5:10 am

Coffeeee! Specifically, lots of espresso with chocolate soymilk — tastes like a mocha =)

And what a brill way to use up instant coffee! It’s cute when you use British slang like “keen”; obviously a byproduct of living with an Englishman 😉

  • FoodsThatFit March 26, 2009, 5:20 am

    Sugar Cookie Sleigh Ride!

  • Hi! I'm Erin March 26, 2009, 5:25 am

I try to avoid caffeine as much as possible since it wreaks havoc with my GI system. So, I stick to caffeine free tea when I want something warm to drink. Occasionally I’ll break into the caffeinated tea stash, but only a few times a month. I’ve never actually had a cup of coffee but I do like coffee-flavored ice cream.

  • Red Head, Yellow Dog March 26, 2009, 5:36 am

whoooaaa those sound SO good!!! we’re actually having pancakes for dinner tonight..perhaps I need to experiment!!

coffee all the way man! I have never been able to like hot tea. bummer.

  • Megan March 26, 2009, 5:46 am

coffee rocks my world. if it had all of the necessary nutrients, i’d live off of it! i try to like tea, but it’s just not as good…. and i feel like it tastes like water from a mud puddle.

i looove the idea of coffee in pancakes!! starbucks just sent me some of the instant coffee and i havent decided what to do with it yet. such a good idea!

  • Trish March 26, 2009, 5:53 am

I love you heart shaped bowl. 🙂

  • Bi0nicw0man March 26, 2009, 5:54 am

Coffee…specifically Starbucks Verona. Two cups every day! (unless it’s the weekend and I go for a triple latte!)

I never made it past level 2 on the Shred. There were a couple of things that were too hard for my bad shoulder…I was disappointed. Booo.

  • Nicole (anotheronebitesthecrust.wordpress.com) March 26, 2009, 6:13 am

I used to be strictly a tea girl, but I LOVE COFFEE!

I love coffee in baked goods. It’s especially delicious in brownies!

  • Erin March 26, 2009, 6:14 am

You had me at Starbucks and pancakes. I will have to give this a try! I am drinking coffee as we speak!!!

  • Dori March 26, 2009, 6:16 am

Your pancakes sound so great, i want to make them like that buy my boyfriend HATES coffee. Maybe for myself one day. I am a major coffee lover.

I didn’t get to Shred today – I woke up to do it but my boyfriend is going away today untul Tues night so we decided to just cuddle instead. 🙂

But I did want to tell you that he says he sees a difference in my body! I need to stick with this…

  • Tina March 26, 2009, 6:17 am

YUM! That does sounds like a yummy combo! 🙂

  • mandypantz March 26, 2009, 6:19 am

I can’t live without either! I lurve my morning cup of coffee but my kitchen is STOCKED with every imaginable kind, brand, flavor, etc of tea. It drives my fiance crazy.

  • Kristie Lynn March 26, 2009, 6:21 am

If I’m going to do coffee or tea plain, then I’m all for tea. But if I can mix in some flavor, then I’m all about the coffee. Those pancakes are making me drool at work though!

  • Anne P March 26, 2009, 6:24 am

OMG!!!!!!! that sounds amazing. must try it once i am home!!

  • Nancy March 26, 2009, 6:26 am

omg I love coffee soo sooooo sooooo MUCH! I think about this everyday when I wake up.. I even sleep at night looking forward to having it in the morning! <3

  • Betsy March 26, 2009, 6:30 am

Blech, coffee! I’m a total tea drinker. But I always hear that adding coffee grounds to baked goods (especially when there’s chocolate) really pumps up the flavor.

  • Brandi March 26, 2009, 6:38 am

    mm..i love coffee AND tea!

i think I would love coffee pancakes – i may need to try that 🙂

  • Emily March 26, 2009, 6:39 am

Coffee in pancakes..what a fantastic idea!!

I love coffee…but there are certain times when I want tea. But overall, I’m definitely a coffee girl. 🙂

  • RhodeyGirl/Sabrina March 26, 2009, 6:40 am

definitely hot tea or iced coffee yum yum yummmmmmmmmmmmm

caitlin, i think i should hire you to come make me some of those pancakes. they always look so delicious.

  • jane March 26, 2009, 6:40 am

tea all the way! and i’m such a wimp i can only drink the herbal kinds. i just can’t handle caffeine- it makes me all shaky and nauseous.

  • Jenn March 26, 2009, 6:43 am

Caitlin, did you do level 2 for 10 days? I’m on level 2 now and I was trying to ready your re-cap, and it looks like you only did it for six before switching. Level 2 is hard! I am scared of three 🙂

  • Natalie March 26, 2009, 6:44 am

So, I just read your last night’s post and wanted to comment that in my running world we refer to it as the “dreadmill”!

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point March 26, 2009, 6:47 am

jenn- i decided i was going to switch levels every 10 days, regardless of whether or not i had actually done the level 10 times. 🙂

  • dailydulcie March 26, 2009, 6:48 am

    I'm a coffee girl 🙂

Adding the coffee to the pancake mix was a brilliant idea!! I love coffee ice cream so this is definitely something I need to try!!

    Have a wonderful Thursday<3

  • Graze with Me March 26, 2009, 6:54 am

  • ksgoodeats March 26, 2009, 7:07 am

THAT is my kind of pancake!! I’m a total coffee girl! Tea tastes like seriously watered down juice 🙁

  • Amanda (Two Boos Who Eat) March 26, 2009, 7:07 am

    mmm that sounds fantastic!

  • tfh March 26, 2009, 7:09 am

Ha! I love your caffeinated ode to the pancakes. But asking me to choose between coffee and tea is like asking a mom to choose her favorite child. (If I had to say: morning coffee, afternoon tea.)

  • Matt March 26, 2009, 7:15 am

    Coffee!

  • lauren March 26, 2009, 7:20 am

great idea to add the instant coffee into the pancakes!

  • Sheri March 26, 2009, 7:20 am

I just started the Shred DVD and I am on Level 1 and think she is a beast! I consider myself pretty fit and I sweat like crazy doing her workouts. I also tried Boost Your Metabolism and WHooooHeee…that was killer!

  • Rose March 26, 2009, 7:39 am

That’s a fun idea for pancakes!

  • Danielle March 26, 2009, 7:41 am

What a great idea for your pancakes!
I can’t imagine how hard level 3 is of the shred I barely made it through level 1 haha.

Oh my gosh! AWESOME idea!! I can’t wait to try this. The sound amazing.

  • Tyler March 26, 2009, 8:30 am

GREAT idea!! I’ve put coffee in brownies and cookies before, but never pancakes! Yum 🙂

  • Thinspired March 26, 2009, 8:49 am

This is such a great idea! I’ve also used instant coffee in brownies and it worked well, but these are much healthier 😉

  • redheadedjournal March 26, 2009, 8:52 am

I’ll have to try the coffee pancakes. I like coffee and tea. I’m drinking coffee right now 🙂

  • Haleigh March 26, 2009, 9:01 am

Coffee and pancakes made into one? Sounds like a perfect combination to me! They look delicious!

  • Jess March 26, 2009, 9:06 am

Seeing all your pancakes makes me crave them so badly haha!

  • runsarah March 26, 2009, 9:18 am

Coffee pancakes, I have to try those! Coffee is good with anything! I have been doing the Shred for 6 weeks, 2x a week and already people have commented on my arms looking more toned.

  • peanutbutterandjuli March 26, 2009, 9:25 am

That looks awesome! I love level 3 too- it flies by!

    COFFEE for me!

Sorry been MIA for the challenge- a two week vacation made it difficult, but I’m back in action 🙂

  • Dana March 26, 2009, 9:30 am

that breakfast looks so good. i will def. have to recreate it!

  • Sarah March 26, 2009, 10:36 am

  • ChickPea March 26, 2009, 10:59 pm

Definitely tea! I haven’t had coffee since I was 16!

  • Melissa March 27, 2009, 12:40 pm

I love any tea by Twinings and the Zen tea by Tazo.

  • bhealthier March 28, 2009, 7:25 am

I really enjoy level 3 too! it is my fav because of all the plank work and less joint probs on my knees.
