Running On Empty

Our fridge is seriously, seriously EMPTY.  We’re trying to eat up everything before we go, but I think we did too good of a job!

Mid afternoon snacks:  WW toast a pumpkin butter

Plus, carrots and PB.

Pre-run snack of nuts and raisins:

Side Note:  Maggie gave me the "evil eye" all afternoon! She’s so  mean sometimes.

After work, I set out on my 5 mile run per my training plan.   It was a little overcast and breezy — perfect Florida running whether!  And I had one of those strange runs when you feel like you’re slow, but you’re actually at a decent pace.  Does that ever happen to you?

  • Duration:  50 minutes (5 miles )
  • Calories Burned: 480 (estimate)

I haven’t really been sticking to my training plan…. which is BAD when in a 15 Mile Race on April 11.  Last week, I only ran 14 miles and my longest run was 5.   This makes me a little nervous, especially because we’re going away for five days.  Lord, I hope my hotel has a treadmill.

As mentioned, we’re running out of groceries… so dinner is a little slapdash!

CIMG2980

I had two Flat Out Wraps (Italian Flavor).  Each was stuffed with 2 eggs, cheddar cheese, and spinach

CIMG2981

Husband proclaimed these were surprisingly good (I put ham in his)!  I had a banana on the side.

I hate stressing about leaving food wasted in the fridge when I go on vacation..good for you for using everything up!

  • Red Head, Yellow Dog March 17, 2009, 5:45 pm

your egg wraps always look soo good!

If you ran 14 miles last week, you’ll be fine with your training! You’re doing great! You have so much endurance already built up. Don’t you worry!

I love Biggest Loser!! I’m watching it right now, I was soooo sad last week when Mandi went home!

  • Ryan (Chase Daylight) March 17, 2009, 5:52 pm

I totally had one of those days tonight on my 6 mile run! I felt like I was going like an 11 minute pace but was actually moving sub-10 for most of it! LOVE THAT! Have a great trip!

  • VeggieGirl March 17, 2009, 5:53 pm

    MAGGIE!!! 😀

We are trying to eat everything in our fridge too! Ah, weekend trips…

I had a similar run today. I was going at a great pace, but I felt slow and somewhat “blah.”

Your eats look pretty awesome to me (especially for not having much food in the house!!). Charlotte (I’m not exactly sure where you’re staying) actually has some pretty nice outdoor areas to run. I bet Kath could give you some great guidance!

I’m also watching BL now! Inspiring eh? So cool that they did the half marathon.

Your egg wraps looks so good. That might be on my dinner menu soon!

  • Brandi March 17, 2009, 6:17 pm

I don’t think I could say no to that evil eye! Maggie is so cute!

    Your egg wrap looks amazing!

  • Kelly March 17, 2009, 7:28 pm

    Those wraps look good.
Hey, today I did a 5k today! Woohoo. It was only a walk/run though. 🙂 but still. Maybe I’ll be able to keep up with you someday.

  • runningveggie March 17, 2009, 7:28 pm

I’m not a huge fan of eggs, but yours always look so good! I’m going to have to try them in a wrap sometime soon.

  • Nicole (anotheronebitesthecrust.wordpress.com) March 17, 2009, 7:44 pm

I had something really profound to say in this comment and now I can’t remember it!! Boooo.

    Maggie is adorable, though 😀

  • Rachel March 17, 2009, 7:54 pm

The Biggest Loser is definitely the best show ever invented, period!

  • Emily March 17, 2009, 8:09 pm

Thanks for the Shred contest link!

I haven’t been able to find Flatout wraps at my grocery store yet. 🙁

I wanted to ask you where you got your knee sleeves. I think I’m having similar problems with my knee, and I’m not sure if a sleeve would help? I don’t really want to go to a doctor because he’ll probably tell me not to run anymore and not consider alternative therapy.

  • Matt March 17, 2009, 8:55 pm

That happens to me all the time. Today, I thought I was running an 8:00 min pace and it turned out to be 7:20!

  • luckytastebuds March 17, 2009, 9:49 pm

See…i don’t see why the wraps would be “surprisingly good” because they really look SO DARN awesome and yummy to me!! 🙂

  • Sarah (lovINmytummy) March 17, 2009, 10:56 pm

We’re flog twins tonight….5 milers and eggs for dinner. I too am having trouble keeping up with that ole crumodgen Hal. I call him Hal-itosis. He hates that.

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point March 18, 2009, 4:25 am

emily – i got them at rei.com. just search “knee sleeves”. i wear the shorter version,

  • fitforfree March 18, 2009, 6:46 am

That wrap looks yummy, even if it was thrown together! Mmm.

I think if you’re trusting your body then it’s totally cool to modify a training schedule (esp. since you’re doing the shred too!)

  • kara March 18, 2009, 8:49 am

I do that with the food every time I have to go home from school. It gets kinda stressful!
