Two Breakfasts and Two Workouts!

Good morning! I hope you are having a lovely Friday so far.  Normally, I have Fridays off from work (because I work 10 hour days Mon – Thurs), but today I have to work at least a half day.

I decided to get in not 1 but 2 workouts in the morning, and I’m feeling GREAT and AWAKE as a result!

My day started off with breakfast #1:

CIMG2622

A WW waffle topped with maple syrup, toasted almonds and pecans, and a sliced banana.  Plus a coffee!

Workout #1 was Level 1 of the 30 Day Shred.  It was a great workout.  I’ve really never gotten into workout videos, but the 30 Day Shred is soooo challenging and FAST. Click the widget on the upper right hand corner of the blog to learn the details of today’s 30 Day Shred workout!

After the 30 Day Shred, I decided to go for a run.  I actually had planned to do 20 minutes of cross training (elliptical) and yoga class at the gym, but I decided that would be too time-consuming.  Plus, I wanted to SWEAT.

Workout #2 was a 10K!  This was the first long-run since the Half Marathon on Sunday, so I felt pretty slow.  But it was relaxing and peaceful to run in the morning, and I listened to The Beach Boys, which put me in a great mood!   If "Surfin’ Safari" doesn’t make you happy, you have a cold, stone heart.  🙂

  • Duration: 1 hour, 4 minutes (10K, 6.2 miles)
  • Calories Burned (on run only):  480

Since I had two workouts, I needed two breakfasts!

Breakfast #2 was a slice of WW toast, melted cheddar cheese, and a scrambled egg.

Plus a side of fruit:

Alright, I’m OFF to get some work done!  TGIF!

How do you do eggs – scrambled, fried, over-easy, sunny side up, in omelettes, in casseroles??  I like them all ways, but I think Eggs Benedict is my favorite way to eat eggs!

2 breakfasts is always a good thing 🙂

Good job on the 2 workouts!

Eggs – I’ll eat them anyway, but I love them over easy the best. I LOVE runny yolks 🙂

  • VeggieGirl March 6, 2009, 8:16 am

    I’m partial to breakfast #1 – SCRUMPTIOUSNESS!!!

    Good luck at work!!

  • Erica March 6, 2009, 8:18 am

WOW! What a great morning. I am totally jealous. Enjoy your half day 😉

  • Amanda March 6, 2009, 8:22 am

Love doing the Shred and then some cardio! It’s such a nice feeling to get off a machine at the gym and feel fine about just going home, since I already got in my strength training. I used to fake my way through some crunches and arm exercises, but I definitely prefer this new way more 🙂
    HAPPY FRIDAY!

  • Graze with Me March 6, 2009, 8:23 am

I love my eggs whisked together with a little skim milk and then cooked open faced omelet style with various toppings. I can never flip it just right so I kind of let it form whatever shape it wants to…

  • talieworld March 6, 2009, 8:24 am

    Love the waffle breakfast!

    Enjoy your half day. 🙂

  • Erin March 6, 2009, 8:25 am

    You have been so productive!
I love eggs all ways too, but I’m currently eating a soft boiled and I love it. I like them undercooked for sure.

  • Courtney (The Hungry Yogini) March 6, 2009, 8:33 am

I LOVE eggs! My fav. are over medium and in omelets. YUM!

  • Kailey (SnackFace) March 6, 2009, 8:38 am

Shoo two workouts already?? That’s rather enviable. Breakfast #1 looks so good I’d want to repeat it for breakkie #2. I do scrambled eggs, well, because I can’t do them any other way! I’ve tried to make omellettes, but it just doesn’t work for me!

  • Mica March 6, 2009, 8:39 am

Two b’fasts and two workouts? You’re already more productive than I am!

  • Run Saraah March 6, 2009, 8:47 am

Yummy! Sounds like a fun morning. Surfin’ Safari reminds me of Florida – we would always listen to the Beach Boys when we were visitng my relatives there. I love my eggs scrambled – or sunny side up.

  • Rose March 6, 2009, 9:00 am

Great job with your double workouts this morning. That’s great!

    I like omelettes 🙂

  • Kelly March 6, 2009, 9:08 am

OMG! You’re a machine! I can hardly walk after a shred session.

That’s it! You’ve inspired me to go for a run today. The first one I’ve had since last summer. I know, I know. Will you be my trainer? LOL

BTW, I have the exact same pair of shoes as yours in the banner. 🙂 Love em.

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point March 6, 2009, 9:11 am

kelly – yay for running!!! take it easy and go slow if its been a long time since your last run 🙂 i find it really helps to “build up” the run in my mind first. i talk myself into looking forward to it.

  • Tyler March 6, 2009, 9:12 am

mmm…eggs benedict is the best!!! i love poached eggs, but i am way too lazy to make them, so i usually go for scrambled mixed with a little milk (to make them fluffy) and cheese (yum!).

i’m jealous of your productivity….i just woke up, haha

  • peanutbutterandjuli March 6, 2009, 9:17 am

I love my eggs scrambled on top of a piece of toast with jam.

    DELICIOUS.

Great job on the 2 workouts! You definitely needed that second breakie!

  • HangryPants March 6, 2009, 9:25 am

    Yay for running!

Have you worn your HRM during the shred yet? I would be curious about the calories burned.

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point March 6, 2009, 9:27 am

hangrypants – i have not worn my HRM yet while doign the shred because its broken, but i would estimate 140 – 150 calories during the 20 minute workout.

  • Sarah (lovINmytummy) March 6, 2009, 9:28 am

Those are mini-breakfasts…I think you could have even had 3 and been alright 😉

I only like eggs scrambled or in quiches, etc. I cannot stand runny icky yolks. Heave.

  • Becca March 6, 2009, 9:35 am

I love runny yolks so poached or over easy is my favorite way to eat them. Sometimes you can’t beat a good scramble or omelet though! Whats funny is I hated eggs up until a few years ago and now i love them!

  • tfh March 6, 2009, 9:36 am

Sounds like a perfect start to the day! You know what I have a weakness for? Deviled eggs.

  • Dori March 6, 2009, 9:44 am

Both breakfasts looks so delicious! When I make food it never looks so pretty. Probably why I don’t like to cook so much!

I plan on beginning my challenge TOMORROW!

  • talesofexpansion March 6, 2009, 9:48 am

i had 2 breakfasts today, too!! (but only 1 workout, hehe). you made delicious choices 🙂

poached eggs are my favorite, but i don’t like any runniness! so i guess they’re more like hard-boiled eggs, just in a poached shape …

  • Emily March 6, 2009, 10:04 am

    Love both of your breakfasts!

I really like eggs in omelets with lots of veggies and cheese.

  • RunningLaur March 6, 2009, 10:17 am

Wow, the first breakfast looks AMAZING!!
    Great job on the 10k!

  • Kelly March 6, 2009, 10:26 am

Well, I didn’t actually run but I did walk. Hubby wanted to go with me but he is just recovering from surgery so we took it easy. Started wearing my bodybugg again to see how many calories I burn.

    Your breakfasts sure look yummy.

  • alessa March 6, 2009, 10:33 am

good job keeping up with the 30 day shred! i am still completely struggling with getting up in the morning.. i think daylight savings will help me 🙂

your breakfasts look great! did you end up having any knee pain after last weekend?

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point March 6, 2009, 10:40 am

alessa- grrrr yes my knees hurt this AM. i’m mad!!!

  • leslie March 6, 2009, 10:55 am

    yum to the double breakfast!

thanks to both you and sharon for the responses to my treadmill question yesterday! i hadn’t thought about speed, but that could definitely be part of my problem. i actually asked my physical therapist about it this morning, and she said it really depends on the person, but the treadmill does change your gait and stride length, which then affects the way your knees track (which is the source of most runner’s knee problems). thought i’d share the info! good thing the weather is about to get gorgeous up north. 🙂

  • RunToFinish March 6, 2009, 10:58 am

great job on the run! I love eggs pretty much any way they come

  • aron March 6, 2009, 11:36 am

I loooove eggs! Only scrambled or in omlettes though 🙂 YUM

  • kara March 6, 2009, 12:09 pm

LOVE the Beach Boys! I got to see them in concert this past July with John Stamos 🙂

  • Meaghen March 6, 2009, 3:11 pm

I like them all ways too, but over easy is my favourite.

Mmmm.. I love the way melty cheese looks!

  • Sarah March 6, 2009, 3:22 pm

I love eggs! I agree that Eggs Benedict is probably the top winner. Eggs over medium or a veggie omelet are my next picks.

  • kristine March 6, 2009, 3:52 pm

how long do you spend stretching before and after your runs? also what stretches do you do?

  • emily March 6, 2009, 4:27 pm
