Exercise Guilt, Be Gone!

in All Posts

I posted about exercise guilt a few days ago — and I’m proud to say that I’m kicking that feeling in the BOOTAY!

Exercise guilt is best relieved by 1) remembering that it’s really not a big deal in the grand scheme of life to miss a few days of training; and 2) getting back into the swing of things ASAP!

I attacked my training schedule by doing a 4.0 mile run and Level 2 of the Shred after work — and now I feel STRONG and PROUD!

  • Duration:  39 minutes (4.0 miles)
  • Calories Burned: 320

After I came home, I popped in the 30 Day Shred and completed Level 2.   I literally scream at Jillian when I am shredding sometimes!  Stuff like, "Jillian! YOU ARE A CRAZY LADY!"

Here are my eats of the afternoon:

Chobani yogurt + 1/2 cup of Shredded Wheat

CIMG3157

Cup of celery and carrots

CIMG3159

Slice of bread before my run

The Husband made my dinner and plated it, which means he served me WAYYYY too much food.  I ate exactly 1/2 of this meal:

CIMG3163

According to the Husband, dinner contained: "A delicious mix of brown rice, grilled onions, black beans, grilled chicken, and baked sweet potato."

I saved the other 1/2 of dinner for lunch tomorrow. 🙂 Perhaps!

Have a great night!

Boys, they always serve us too much food!

You’re absolutely right: getting off the exercise train for a couple days is totally fine and you’re back with a vengeance.

I am starting the 30 day shred tomorrow, I’m excited!

    Beautiful dinner!

I am glad I”m not the only one who screams at Jillian. I seriously think about kicking my tv off it’s stand sometimes I get so frustrated! But it feels oh-so- good in the end! Love you Jillian… I was only kidding 😉

I think my favorite part of it is realizing how NORMAL she is… who else loves it when she laughs?? It’s so funny, you can’t help but laugh along! I love it! She sounds like a PERSON not a celeb!

Good for you with the no exercise guilt! I try to abide by this when I find that I beat myself up if I miss a workout and then I realize I am being incredibley silly.
There is always tomorrow and the next day and the world will go on if I miss a day here and there.

Glad to see that you are getting back into your routine!

  • jenngirl March 23, 2009, 5:57 pm

Thank you for this reminder Caitlin…there is NO reason to beat ourselves up about a week or two off schedule, life needs to happen, and we can always get back on track! 🙂

  • Run Saraaah March 23, 2009, 5:59 pm

Yay for getting back on track…I am getting off track today by avoiding my run in the rain, ugh!

Guys always give girls way too much food! When my husband sets my plate he usually gives me double the right amount! The sweet potatoes look fantastic though! Yum! Enjoy your evening girl!

    hi caitlin..
just wondering if you have any tips on portion control and learning how to stop eating when you’re full! it seems like you have really good portion control. that dinner didn’t even look that big but you said you stopped 1/2 way through. which is awesome if you were full and satisfied! i am one of those people that eats everything on my plate no matter what! thanks!

Glad you’ve found your groove again and you got rid of that lame exercise guilt feeling (I can totally relate). Way to go! Nothing like getting back into it, eh?

  • haya March 23, 2009, 6:38 pm

that looks super delicious and healthy!

funny enough, it’s when my boyfriend serves me that i don’t have a bit of a tummy ache after dinner because he knows exactly how much i can eat. my eyes are bigger than my tummy and i always end up serving myself and eating too much!

  • Megan March 23, 2009, 6:39 pm

    mmmm, dinner!

i ALWAYS yell at the TV during exercise DVDs! i feel so much hatred during the workout, but within 30 seconds of ending, i loooove them to kicking my butt 🙂

  • Mica March 23, 2009, 6:55 pm

Hahaha, the boyfriend has learned to plate my food on the 8″ plates (instead of his 12″ ceramic monstrosity) because unlike you, I will EAT THE ENTIRE PLATE until I want to burst. (Ew, TMI.)

Yay for banishing exercise guilt, you rock!

  • Meg March 23, 2009, 6:57 pm

I love that you scream at Jillian!

  • therunningaddict March 23, 2009, 10:54 pm

I really HATE exercise guilt! It feels so much better to know I actually exercised!

  • Melissa March 24, 2009, 8:55 am

I think healthy eats help with banishing that exercise guilt too, and you are doing a great job with that!

    Lovely dinner your hubby made!

  • Rose March 24, 2009, 9:07 am

Bill always gives me too much food when he plates it too. Which means I usually eat too much!

  • erinbee March 24, 2009, 1:38 pm

haha. i swear that is a compliment!
