Birthday Day Recap

in All Posts

As mentioned, I had not one but TWO birthday parties to attend today, which was a huge challenge for Crap Free Week!  This was the "exception day," because what’s a birthday without some cake (and booze)?

But first… I have to confess something. I had a complete and total meltdown on the way to my dad’s birthday lunch.  We were in the car when I realized that I had forgotten his present at home.  This was my first full day without caffeine, and my body was going crazy.  I sobbed into the steering wheel and kind of screamed a little bit (Husband said I looked like a 7 year-old version of Paris Hilton throwing a temper tantrum. Not hot.).

This incident made me realize that I am truly a coffee addict.  I don’t mean that in a funny way! It’s pretty crazy to think I would have a literal meltdown due to lack of coffee.  It reaffirms my desire to BREAK the HABIT.

The rest of the day was VERY FUN!

Dad’s birthday was a success… my aunt made a lovely feast.  Our starter was a cranberry salsa citrus salad.  She’s going to send this recipe into Southern Living; it’s that good!

CIMG1774

I broke the bread fast and had a slice of French.  It was divine!  Our main dish was spaghetti and roasted veggies.  There was also Italian Sausage, but I passed.

My yellow cake cupcakes went over pretty well! I ate 1 for dessert.

We drove back to Orlando, quickly changed clothes, and headed back out to birthday party #2….

YAY Meghann!  She’s 24!  For a few glorious months, I get to say we’re the same age (I’m older and hate it).

A large group of us met up at Seasons 52 for Meghann’s birthday, and we had an absolutely fabulous dinner!

The Husband accompanied me….

Other guests included Lindsay and Ryan! Plus Ross (Linsday’s Husband) and a few of Meghann’s friends from college and high school.

The Husband and I ordered champagne for us to enjoy with Meghann.

We went to Schramsberg on our honeymoon (here’s the recap!), but we’ve never had this type… it did not disappoint! Fabulous!

CIMG1782

Mmmm.

And for dinner, I ordered the quail, which I got the last time I ate at Seasons 52.  It’s just so succulent and flavorful, I couldn’t pass it up!

CIMG1788

The quail came with sweet potatoes and green beans.

I love how everything at Seasons 52 is made without butter and is under 475 calories.

Then… the waitress brought out the DESSERT TRAY!

CIMG1791

I chose the Pecan Pie dessert shot glass…

And took a bite of the Husband’s Key Lime Pie dessert shot glass…

All in all, it was a very busy, but very happy birthday day!  I love spending birthdays with people… it just makes me so happy. 🙂

Where’s the RUN?

So, I missed a 5.0-mile run today.  This week is actually my "rest" week on my training schedule.  Most training schedules will throw in a rest week or two to give you both a mental and physical break.

However, I only have 26 days until the Bud Light 3 Races in 2 Days (5K, 15K, and Half Marathon) Challenge!  I am getting a little nervous, and I definitely plan to kick it up a notch with training for the rest of the week!

As for Crap Free Week, I still have 4 days to go.  I’m glad I got a little ‘break’ from Crap Free eating today (hello, everything I ate was a-maz-ing!!!), but I’m ready to go back and finish strong!

Have a wonderful night!

I feel a little nutty without caffine sometimes too! I went all day yesterday and most of today without it (but really only because I had to workout all day and I knew it would make me sick)…but on my way home from training I stopped for coffee. It felt so good haha.

What fun birthday celebrations! Ya’ll look so cute in your pictures 🙂

I love Season’s 52!! I’ve never gotten the quail before, but it looks really good! My favorite shot dessert is their carrot cake, but of course there are no bad dessert decisions there!

BTW-Hubby and I have the same couch that you and your dad and husband are sitting on. Crazy!

Fun day and absolutely worth a little “break” in Crap Free week. Those shot glass desserts look perfect!

I had a melt-down today too when I was cooking dinner. And mine wasn’t even caffeine-related–just my spoiled and impatient side coming out when the eggs just weren’t cooking right, haha!

All that birthday stuff looks amazing!!! Glad it sounds like you had a good time!

Caffeine is so dangerous. I know if I don’t have it I can get really moody and get headaches. On the other hand, when I do have it I can have weird reactions. My emotions will be all over the place. And that can be after just one cup of regular coffee!

  • HangryPants February 8, 2009, 8:01 pm

Caffeine is a drug I guess! Do you think you will still have at least 1 cup a day? I went coffeeless today because like you, I don’t want to be an addict!

Anyway, your parties looks fabulous! I am older than you and I hate it too.

I have panic attacks just THINKING about not having a cup of coffee in the morning…or before a run…or in the mid-afternoon. And you thought YOU had problems.
