LAST DAY

in All Posts

of work!!

I would rather be doing this…

DSCN0008

But I’m sure I can get through another 8 hours of technical writing.  And then, I’m free-free-free for a whole month.  One more reason to have a long engagement (so you can save up your paid time off!).

I made a glorious bowl of Cinnamon Sugar Raising Oatmeal for breakfast.

DSCN9984

My oatmeal contained:

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 sliced banana
  • Toppings:  1/2 tablespoon cinnamon, 1 tablespoon brown sugar, 2 tablespoons hazelnuts, a bunch of raisins.

DSCN9985

And to think I had never eaten oatmeal ONCE in my ENTIRE life a year ago… and now I am addicted.  Thank you, Kath!

DSCN9989

On a slightly sappy note, Future Husband found his old journal last night (yea, he used to kept a journal! Isn’t that cute?) and there’s an entry dated March 14, 2004 (about 1.5 month after we started talking on the phone… we met in real life through friends but we were long distance) in which he wrote that he thought we  were soul mates!

He also wrote about this time that I was right on something he didn’t expect me to be right on, and then he wrote, "That is the last time I will ever doubt Katie’s word again."  HAHAHHAHA.  We’re going to photocopy that page and FRAME IT!

Do you believe in soul mates…. that there is one perfect person out there for everyone?  My grandpa used to say, "A girl can have a million soul mates. Some are rich. Some are poor. Pick a rich one!"  :)  Nah, just kidding — I, of course, believe in soul mates!

AND don’t forget about the OnlineShoes.com Ratty Sneakers Contest – you could win $100 gift certificate!

Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy for your last day! I am so jealous of your month off! I hope you get some time to snuggle with those snoozing puppers!

  • jenngirl December 19, 2008, 6:40 am

So glad you are almost on vaca!! yay! And I would always rather be doing what my pets are doing 😉

That’s really sweet about your husband. I do believe in soul mates. But I think so many people confuse the “right person, at the right time” with someone being theirs.

  • Anonymous December 19, 2008, 6:44 am

    Caitlin,

I would definitely recommend you give physical therapy a try. I had the same problem as you with my knees, and ended up having to give up all the sports I played when I was in middle school because running hurt so bad. I would even be in pain if I walked too much.

I decided to give physical therapy a try and going a couple times a week for a few months made a BIG difference. I barely even have pain anymore and if I do it seem to really only be when it cold (not nearly as bad though) for some reason.

Oh and I do not believe that just one person is your soul mate.

  • Angela December 19, 2008, 6:47 am

LOL!!! This is the last time I will doubt her words again….OMG!!! Frame it!! Not many men will ever admit that! 🙂

I don’t believe in soul mates but I believe that there is someone out there for everyone 🙂

Congrats on the last day of work- its mine too!

You Maggie pictures always make me laugh – she is too darn cute!

That’s totally awesome you have a full month off – I hope your last 8 hours of work fly by! 🙂

  • girlrunningaround December 19, 2008, 6:57 am

I totally believe in soul mates. Hubby and I connected right away, and althought I didn’t want to admit it then, I knew I was going to marry him just a few weeks after we met.

  • K December 19, 2008, 7:02 am

Haha – your FH is so cute! Definitely frame that quote, girl!

Enjoy your time off! It’s WELL deserved!

  • Lacey Nicole December 19, 2008, 7:03 am

awwwwwwwww i keep journals too and anytime there is a moment like this it is totally worth it 🙂 i love reading back thru to remind myself of things i was thinking about. i think on soulmates that you have more than one and it is a timing thing. the right person for you at that time. people change so much so i think relationships work if the two people can grow and change together.

  • Andrea (Off Her Cork) December 19, 2008, 7:03 am

I totally believe in soul mates. 😀

Is the weather changing where you are? Sometimes if it’s been super damp for a while or when the seasons change and we start hitting the super cold weather, my knees will act up and ache a bit. After a day or so they are back to normal. And sometimes my PMS can cause them to be sensitive as well.

  • Annie December 19, 2008, 7:06 am

Awww. Future husband is such a sweetie!<3

I believe in soulmates. 100%. Nathan and I were "boyfriend/girlfriend" in 7/8th grade (as much as you can be at that age!) and swore we were in LOVE! We were eachothers first kiss and all the mushy goodness. We remained friends through highschool and after we graduated we got back together and the rest is history! I believe we're soulmates. 🙂

  • Meghann December 19, 2008, 7:13 am

awwww…. too cute. And so random since we were talking abut journals yesterday. By the way I was reading entried that said I was so lucky to have Brian and he was a good guy…hahahahaha…. I was sooo DUMB back then. Which goes to show you why I don’t believe in coulmates. I believe in finding someone you love and work hard to keep that love going. Maybe I’m just cynical becuase I have had my heart broken one too many times.

  • just me December 19, 2008, 7:15 am

yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy! today is my last day of work AND the last day at my internship before my new job near YOU AND MEGHANN!!! YAY!!!!!

ah, so cute about the soulmates…i’m still look’n…or waiting; whichever.

  • Angela December 19, 2008, 7:37 am

    Agh my post just disappeared!

Anyways, lol, I was hoping Caitlin that you could tell me a bit about Glucosamine and the benefits of taking it! I know you are the go-to person for supplement info so I would be really greateful if you could tell me your own experiences with it!

I have had a very slight on and off pain in my knee since running (which may or may not be eliminated with my orthotic insoles) so I was thinking about possibly taking some. Any help you have is appreciated!

  • MacDuff December 19, 2008, 7:45 am

I was just thinking the same thing about oatmeal. I used to HATE it, now I crave it every morning.

  • Danielle December 19, 2008, 7:47 am

That is absolutely adorable. I do like to believe that everyone has a soul mate… that person that complements yourself near perfectly and makes you feel more complete. How romantic :).

I always take your word 😉 have a great last day of work!

  • Caitlin (see bride run) December 19, 2008, 7:56 am

hey girl! here is my breakdown on glucosamine!

Glucosamine Sulfate increases the strength and flexibility of the cartilage in your joints. It works by stimulating the production of a very important structure in your cartilage called the Glycosamine Glycans ( GAG). Your GAG acts as a nutrient base for the growth of your cartilage, thereby increase the production of your cartilage over time.

if you are experiencing new trouble, i would recommend you start taking ChondroCare, which is a knee supplement that contains MSM (methylsulfonyl methane) and Chondroitin Sulfate, in addition to a full-day's dosage of Glucosamine Sulfate. studies have proven that gluco works better when taken with chondroitin.

MSM (methylsulfonyl methane) supports healthy connective tissues like tendons, ligaments, and muscle. People taking MSM may notice additional benefits such as softer skin, harder nails, and thicker hair (yayyyy!).

Chondroitin Sulfate is an important structural component of cartilage and provides much of its resistance to compression. It prevents other body enzymes from degrading the building blocks of joint cartilage.

ChondroCare contains (in 1 daily dose, or six tablets):

    MSM (methylsulfonyl methane): 1000 mg
    D-Glucosamine Sulfate: 1500 mg
    Chondroitin Sulfate: 1200 mg
Also contains: Zinc, Selenium, Copper, and Maganese

you can buy chondrocare or glucosamine by itself at our supplement site. first you have to register: https://theholisticdoctorisin.com/shop/register.php

  • Mrs. LC December 19, 2008, 8:08 am

Hooray for your last day! 🙂

I do believe in soul mates, but more importantly (esp. today when it seems like there is such a high divorce rate in America) I believe in finding a love you believe in and making that love a commitment. Love, marriage, soul mates and all that jazz is wonderful, but there are times when you’ll still hurt each other and when it is just plain HARD, and you have to stick to your commitment and not even think about divorce as an option. That’s what I think! 🙂

Oh and random – did you ever figure out if you’re doing anything with extra ceremony decor?

  • Katie December 19, 2008, 8:17 am

Yay! You can totally make it through today so you can get ONE MONTH (and a honeymoon!!!) off!

I don’t know what I think about soul mates… I don’t think I believe in there being just one person for everyone. The boy and I were just talking about that this morning!

  • Tina December 19, 2008, 8:19 am

Yep, I do! When Mal and I broke up in 1998, I remember us saying that if it was meant to be, we’d find our way back to each other. It only took 5 years! 🙂

  • VeggieGirl December 19, 2008, 8:28 am

GOOD LUCK WITH YOUR LAST DAY!!!

**Yes, I DO believe in soul mates – I'm a big believer in fate & destiny.

  • Rose December 19, 2008, 8:42 am

    Wooo for your last day!

I do believe in soul mates.

  • tfh December 19, 2008, 8:44 am

That’s so sweet about FH’s journal!

Good luck getting through your Last Day. Hope it flies by!

I like what Mrs. LC said about soulmates– I completely agree!

  • ashley (sweetandnatural) December 19, 2008, 9:04 am

So cute Future Husband! I believe in soulmates. My bf and I dated for 2 years in college and were madly in love and talked about forever all the time. Then it turned into a long distance thing, both our lives were changing and we went our separate ways. The timing wasn’t right. Two and a half years later we found ourselves once again in the same city and I knew we’d find our way back to each other. Even when I wasn’t quite ready to be with him again, I knew I would be some day. Now we’ve been bf and gf for 1 year, 9 months and counting. 🙂

But I also agree with what Mrs. LC said – very right on.

  • Betsy in Pittsburgh December 19, 2008, 10:14 am

Are you near Ft. Lauderdale? Or is anyone else? I’ll be there next week for a night and I’m wondering if there are any good restaurant recommendations. Thanks!

  • ttfn300 December 19, 2008, 10:35 am

i would love to be napping too 🙂

fantastic, a month off for you! plus a wedding! and christmas! so much excitement 🙂

  • eatingbender December 19, 2008, 10:35 am

I like your style – saving up all that paid time off was SUCH a great idea!! Enjoy it :o)

I definitely believe in soulmates – there’s just something that separates one person from all the rest and I don’t think there’s any other way to explain it – you just belong together! I love the story about the journal!

  • Erin of Care to Eat December 19, 2008, 11:50 am

I’m so sorry about your knee. I just read your last post. It’s the worst thing ever!
I may be in the minority, but I don’t believe in soul mates!

  • Kath December 19, 2008, 1:39 pm

    Haha – you’re welcome!!!

I don’t believe in soul mates, but if I did, I would claim to have found mine.

  • Kristina December 19, 2008, 5:07 pm

Lucky you! Make sure you have a WONDERFUL month off!

That’s so sweet of your future husband! I do believe in soul mates..haven’t found mine yet, but I’ve got plenty of time.

  • Marissa December 19, 2008, 5:32 pm

I had my second surgery from my pre-wedding fall yesterday so I have over 2 weeks off. It is awesome!

Your wedding is SO close!!!! 🙂

  • HangryPants December 19, 2008, 8:00 pm

    Enjoy that vacation!!!

Also, yes, I 100% believe in soul mates. It’s so great you found that little journal entry. I have so many old little notes and letters from Mark and I love looking at them. 😀
