I love my new running skirt!

Don’t worry, there are little shorts underneath!  They are really comfortable and give you a nice breeze.  Plus, how cute is a running skirt??

Meghann and I went for THE MOST TORTOROUS RUN EVER this morning.  I was hungover and tired, and it was about 80 degrees outside and SO SUNNY (I know that sounds appealing to you Northerners, but trust me — it was NOT).

Before we left, I made blueberry pancakes for fuel.

DSCN0021

I used the Hodgson’s Mills mix and added a handful of blueberries.  So delish!

And some maple syrup for dipping.

After we digested, we set out on a 5.0 mile loop.  Thank GOD for Meghann or I would’ve never made it 1.0 mile.  As you can see from my heart rate statistics, I was basically dying the entire run.

Here are my statistics:

  • Duration: 49 minutes (5.0 miles)
  • Average Heart Rate: 179 bpm
  • Maximum Heart Rate: 202 bpm
  • Calories Burned: 517

When we got home, I promptly chugged a glass of water and a protein shake.

Now we’re sitting on my balcony relaxing.  I’ve got to shower, eat lunch, and do loads of wedding chores.

What do you have planned for today?

Today I am packing up the rest of my belongings and moving permanently to Kentucky! I leave tomorrow morning bright and early. So, today I will spend lots of time with my mom and hopefully not cry TOO much. ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, and I may go for a run on the treadmill later tonight since I will be travelling all day tomorrow and Tuesday.

  • VeggieGirl December 28, 2008, 11:01 am

Cute skirt, scrumptious pancakes; hooray for surviving the run!!

    **Today’s plans = “spring” cleaning.

  • Justine December 28, 2008, 11:14 am

I like the running skirts, but I’m not much of a skirt girl…maybe one day!

I’m still visiting my family at home, so my day today is pretty laid back…reading (2nd Twilight book!), maybe a walk or biking later on, and probably a nap since I was up at 4:30 to take my boyfriend to the airport! Enjoy your Sunday!

  • teacherwoman December 28, 2008, 11:19 am

As chilly as it is here, I don’t miss the 80 degree weather just yet… 60’s is more my kind of running weather!

  • Marissa December 28, 2008, 12:33 pm

    Cute skirt!

  • Laughing Lindsay December 28, 2008, 12:37 pm

Pictures of the skirt are hilarious! I love it.

So my plan for the day/night is my first hot date in a while. We’re going to diner and a comedy club. Definitely not wigging out or anything…haha

  • Tami December 28, 2008, 12:39 pm

i went to spin and then ran 9 miles through the snow and ice but it was 40* here…now i am sorting stuff and i might take a nap!

  • Laura December 28, 2008, 12:42 pm

Wow! I don’t think I’ve ever had my HR go over 200. You must have really been pushing yourself!

    I love the running skirt!

I don’t have anything planned today other than a trip to the gym and getting organized for the work week.

  • ohsheglows December 28, 2008, 12:54 pm

Oh what do I have planned? I did a 6 mile run and am now doing laundry, unpacking from the trip, cleaning up all the beer bottles from last night (lol), etc! I also hope to read more of the Marathon training guide book. Oh and groceries and Eric wants to buy X-mas lights 50% off. Random stuff I know!

The skirt looks adorable on you! They always make for better race photos, I’ve noticed. I just need a little bit trimmer of thighs to wear them!

Running in 80 degrees is NOT fun. Laying about, yes. Running, no.

  • Caitlin December 28, 2008, 1:23 pm

angela – from target! i linked it in the first paragraph of the post. only $19!

holly – i think skirts are really slimming, actually!! every girl can wear a running skirt. i think you should get one now! (why wait??)

  • Holly December 28, 2008, 1:27 pm

I didn’t mean a wouldn’t like the skirt for looks, I bet it would be very slimming! I’m talking about the rubbing! LOL. I carry the last of my weight in my thighs/butt and it sucks. I’m a capris girl. I’ve considered the running skirts that have carpis or pants under them though, like this one:

  • K December 28, 2008, 1:44 pm

Haha – love the skirt pics! Sorry about the rough run but I’ll be you’re glad you did it!

    Yum to the pancakes!

  • Anonymous December 28, 2008, 1:54 pm

    You are so adorable!

I am trying to think of a way to say this without being rude to some of the other bloggers who may (or may not) read here, but I just don’t know — I just want to say, some of the other blogs are so dripping with self-righteousness and obsession (you know who I mean, and as much as I enjoy those blogs for other reasons, it’s hard to take after awhile), and yours is just so much fun.

  • Katie December 28, 2008, 2:12 pm

    What a cute little skort!

    I LOVE those pancakes.

I’m working tonight but hopefully I’ll get off early so I can have some relaxation time… I feel like all I’ve been doing is working!

  • Katy December 28, 2008, 2:43 pm

I *knew you’d end up getting a skirt, too! Any other good bargain finds?

I have most definitely had torturous work outs like that. Cute running skirt.

  • N.D. December 28, 2008, 2:59 pm

Just saw your blog from another that I read. You are so cute! Love the outfit and sounds like a good run and yummy pancakes! It is getting close to the big day!!

  • That Pink Girl December 28, 2008, 3:11 pm

    Your skirt is precious!

  • Caitlin December 28, 2008, 3:42 pm

anon – thanks!! i love to laugh at myself. ๐Ÿ™‚ its better me than someone else!!

  • HangryPants December 28, 2008, 6:07 pm

    Nice bum!!! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • erin December 28, 2008, 6:27 pm

I think we can all tell how comfortable you feel in your own skin by the “bum shot”…good for you and for inspiring us to be silly too. I love it

  • ms December 28, 2008, 7:26 pm

Such a cute running skirt!! I have been eyeing those for months and decided that when I get to 8 miles for a long run, I’m getting myself the skirt as a reward. That was when I thought I would have to pay about $50 for one… now that I know they’re available at Target for such a reasonable price, I may just get the skirt now and give myself a massage as a reward for when I get to 8 miles!!! Plus, living in Florida, we can get year-round use of those!! Those are some great rationalization skills, huh?!?

    Happy Holidays, Caitlin.

  • Bridget December 28, 2008, 9:16 pm

Your hungover runs are pretty amazing…my friends and I usually just lay on the couch! I need a Meghann ๐Ÿ™‚

  • Mica December 28, 2008, 10:49 pm

Love the skirt pictures. I totally ran around today “flashing” people in my running skirt…with little shorts underneath. Haha.

  • Caitlin (see bride run) December 29, 2008, 4:54 am

erin: hahah how fun would life be if you couldnรขโ‚ฌโ„ขt flash your own bum on your blog? ๐Ÿ™‚

ms: the target ones are reallllly cute! and comfy! and cheap!

  • nibblesandwiggles January 6, 2009, 2:12 pm

Love the skirt – I have 2 with attached pants from skirtsports kind of like: http://www.skirtsports.com/products/FA08-Ice-Queen-Skirt.cfm, but with bootcut pants. Love them! Too hot for you though I suppose, but they have many styles and are very good quality.
