Mornin!  I am SO pumped about this week – I leave on Friday for my bachelorette party in NEW YORK CITY! Wooooo hoooo!

Breakfast was SUPER SPECIAL because I got out the Christmas dishes!  I can’t have them out before December, it’s just a personal rule of mine. 🙂

DSCN9992

My mother had a set that looked identical to these dishes when I was growing up, and two years ago she stumbled on this set at a garage sale and bought it for me!  It’s a 10-person dish set, so it’s a little intense!  But oh so pretty.

Breakfast included:

  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 sliced banana
  • Dash of cinnamon
  • Toppings:  glob of cranberry-orange relish and sprinkle of Grape Nuts
  • DSCN0003

Wedding Details:  Table Numbers!

Future Husband and I wanted to do something different with table numbers.  Instead of numbering the tables 1 – 10, we’re naming them after places we’ve traveled to together (or are going to travel to on our honeymoon).

Our tables are named:

  • London, England
  • Great Smokey Mountains
  • Brighton Beach, England
  • Miami, Florida
  • Napa Valley, California
  • Reading, England
  • Philadelphia, Pennsylvania
  • Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania
  • Puerto Banus, Spain
  • St. Augustine, Florida

Each "table number" is 5 inches by 7 inches.  Under a photograph of each of the places, we’re describing why the place is special to us and a fun fact about the area.  Here are some examples (you can click on each one to see a larger version):

miami

Have a GREAT MONDAY!  See you for some speedwork tonight!

If you were to number tables by the places you love to visit, what would they be called?

I love the personalized table numbers! We did 1 table for each person in our wedding party, our parents, grandparents, us etc! We had a large wedding party (8 each) so it worked out really well!

  • VeggieGirl December 1, 2008, 5:33 am

SOOOOO exciting that your bachelorette party is coming up this weekend!! 😀

    Lovely table numbers theme!!

  • Meghann December 1, 2008, 6:11 am

When I went to Robert’s cousin’s wedding in Ireland they has the table numbers as potential honeymoon destiantions. They had kept the location a secret and announces which table they would be traveling to during the reception. I thought it was a cute idea bt I am awful at keep secrets and probaly would have blurted out the destination as soon as it was confirmed

  • ashley (sweet and natural) December 1, 2008, 6:27 am

    So cute and personal!

  • Mica December 1, 2008, 6:37 am

I LOVE your table idea! That is seriously one of the coolest wedding ideas I’ve ever seen, and I’m generally inclined to by cynical about the cheesiness of weddings. Great job, and so cute/classy!

    Also, hurray for Christmas dishes!

  • girlrunningaround December 1, 2008, 6:39 am

I love your table numbers! And it makes it even better that you have a little story about why each place is special to you. It’ll make a great converstation started at the tables.

  • strongandhealthy December 1, 2008, 6:40 am

  • Meg December 1, 2008, 7:05 am

Love your table numbers! What a great idea! My husband and I didn’t travel anywhere together before we got married and we still haven’t traveled to a variety of places, but we have been to Hawaii 3 times and Austin many so…if we did it now, we would have to have lots of Hawaii and Austin tables.

  • just me December 1, 2008, 7:09 am

i love the table number idea! my friends that got married this summer did the same thing since they met while studying abroad in europe!

  • HangryPants December 1, 2008, 7:13 am

I love the holiday plates! So festive.

I also love the idea of the personalized table numbers. It was such fun reading about your travels. Mark and I haven’t really been anywhere exciting, but I think it’s a great idea!

  • *Andrea* December 1, 2008, 7:16 am

LOVE THAT IDEA! your guests will be so entertained 😀 if it were me i would do paris, hollywood, banos (ecuador), basel (switzerland), Amsterdam, and Dublin!!!

  • Mrs. LC December 1, 2008, 7:23 am

    Love your Christmas dishes!

Cute idea with the table numbers! We almost did that, but instead we went with personalized numbers. Like one table was 777 (we got engaged 07/07/07), one table was 726 (our wedding day, 07/26/08), another table was 136 (our combined height in inches)…haha it was really fun coming up with all those numbers. 🙂 Then we wrote a note on the back w/ the significance of that number. 🙂 I think your guests will just love anything that is a little more personalized/ allows them more insight into your lives. 🙂 YAY weddings!!!

  • Aimee December 1, 2008, 7:27 am

I love your table numbers:) We just did plain numbers because I ran out of time. I was nuts having my wedding a week after law school finals.

I need to get christmas dishes! I’ve been wanting them for a while, maybe I should ask for some this year for Christmas!

  • Tina December 1, 2008, 7:51 am

Such a cute idea! Mal and I were going to do this for our tables too since we’ve done so much traveling together, but we nixed the idea once we realized how much work it would be!

    Our favorite places:

    Burlington, VT
    Newport, RI
    Paris, France
    Black Butte, OR
    Seattle, WA
    NYC, NY
    Prague, Czech Republic
    York, England
    Dublin, Ireland
    Turks and Caicos!

  • Rose December 1, 2008, 7:59 am

Great wedding idea! That makes it so much more personal than just a number.

A couple of the places Bill and I have been together:
    Chicago, Illinois
Washington, DC (and now we live here)
    Philadelphia, PA
    Charlottesville, VA
    Knoxville, TN
    Los Angeles, CA

We need to get out of the country, I think!

  • D10 December 1, 2008, 8:07 am

    Love the table numbers!!

I watched the Britney special last night and felt so bad for her – she has one crazy life!

  • Rae December 1, 2008, 8:21 am

Wonderful idea!! INstead of numbering our tables, my fiance and I are naming them after triathlons we’ve raced. makes it more personalized that way 🙂

  • RhodeyGirl/Sabrina December 1, 2008, 8:45 am

shoot i guess i forgot to hit “post comment”!!!

watched the britney interview last night and thought of you. i feel so SORRY for her!

    Hi Caitlin,
Happy Monday! You must be so excited that it is a short work week for you! You will have so much fun at your bachelorette party in NYC!! Yayy 🙂

I love your Christmas dishes. They are so pretty and festive. I also have the same rule with Christmas decor- I wait until December 1st before pulling any of it out.

I love your idea for the tables at your wedding. What a fun & unique way to number your tables! All the pictures are soooo pretty and it was nice to read the little excerpt as to why the places are so special to you guys.

Have a wonderful day and enjoy your speedwork session later on!

  • chasedaylight December 1, 2008, 9:34 am

  • Catherine December 1, 2008, 9:43 am

Love that!! My sister actually did the same thing for her wedding dinner. The rehearsal dinner was themed after the Golf Masters so each table was named after a course and had a pot with a little tee flag in it with the name on it.

My fav places I’ve gone with the BF would be:

    – Barcelona, Spain
    – London, England
    – Lisbon, Portugal
    – Kauai, Hawaii
    – Maui, Hawaii
    – Kennebunkport, Maine
    – San Francisco, CA
    – Niagra Falls, Canada
    – Ludlow, Vermont
    – Nantucket, Massachusetts

Love the X-mas dishes, perfect time to whip ’em out, I agree!

  • angelcubbie December 1, 2008, 11:09 am

Love the table numbers! I’m curious why was that your “first and last” camping trip? lol sounds like there’s an interesting story there.

The one time I went camping with my boyfriend he remembered the beer, the food, the tent, the marshmallows, sticks to roast marshmallows, FORGOT the firewood, the blanket, the lighter fluid. haha. Needless to say that may have been our first and last camping trip as well lol.

  • Caitlin (see bride run) December 1, 2008, 11:58 am

    angelcubbie –

hahah oh lord. this is a good story. great smokey mountains was our first and last camping trip because (1) we were really underprepared for the temperature drop in the evening. i froze my ass off! (2) we didnt bring a blow up air mattress and ended up sleeping directly on the ground of the tent… the cold seeped straight thru to my bones! (3) i got really drunk on wine to compensate (4) i was so scared of bears the entire time that i was nearly crying at night (5) because i was so drunk and so scared of bears, i made future husband go with me to pee in the woods every time i needed to go… like 10 times over the course of the night (because i was so drunk). and (6) there was a creepy man camping near us who i swear was a perverted axe murderer.

  • aron December 1, 2008, 12:03 pm

we did table numbers just like that! all places we have been together. we included a picture of us at the place on the table too along with a story… the guests LOVED it 🙂

have a great time in NYC!!!

  • carolinebee December 1, 2008, 12:39 pm

SUCH a cute idea….and if you put that camping story on the actual placecard, that would be HILARIOUS 😀 haha great story but i guess leaving the mystery is good..have a great day!

  • lauren December 1, 2008, 12:55 pm

what a cute wedding idea! I was actually glad my wedding was too casual for table numbers – there are so many cute things you can do and I would have gotten way too caught up!
