Not as Planned

in All Posts

ARG! The trouble with living with someone else is you can’t count on *knowing* what’s in the fridge.  I had a plan to make a really yummy wrap, but I think Future Husband took the last wrap with him to school today. Oh well.

Also, I realized that Future Husband crushed a WHOLE LOAF of bread yesterday.  OK, I ate four slices, but seriously, the rest was all him.  I wish I could eat like a boy!

Since I couldn’t have my planned lunch, I just decided to eat what I was craving.  I wanted something sweet, and I knew if I didn’t have it, I would likely snack the afternoon away.

I had a PB sammie with banana.

And an apple.

My mid-morning snack consisted of Honey Bunches of Oats.

NOT my favorite cereal, for many reasons (taste, nutritional profile), but Future Hus wanted it and I can’t dictate the shopping list every week. :)  Marriage is all about compromise.

Speaking of marriage, I have an appointment tonight with the golf club today to pay the 50% deposit for the ceremony and reception fees and catering fees.   Yea — it’s basically the cost of a used car.  We’re also going to finalize the menu!  And talk about seating.  It’s SO exciting that we’re getting down to the final days and get to work out the details.

Only 40 days to go!

See you for some PM cross-training. Do you always work out on Mondays to get "back into the groove" or do you like to take Monday off?  I prefer to take off Thursdays, I always have!

    wohooo… I hear weeddding bells 🙂
    yummy lunch!

  • VeggieGirl November 24, 2008, 10:35 am

Your lunch looks great to me!! Yum!!

I don't designate rest days ahead of time – I see how I feel on that morning, and decide then. Today I have personal-training & zumba, and I'm excited/ready for it!! 🙂

Hey girlie! I hear you on this one! Poor Josh always asks now before he eats anything different that we have in the cupboards because one time he ate something I really needed for a recipe I was bringing to a friends house haha. Yes, Mondays are workout days for me. Usually weights (Body Pump). 40 days- how exciting!

  • ashley (sweet & natural) November 24, 2008, 10:44 am

I usually just go with the flow in terms of work out days vs. rest days. My work schedule is too unpredictable to plan them out ahead of time. Though I always do what I can to work out Sat. and Sun.

  • therunningaddict November 24, 2008, 10:47 am

I really do try to have Monday gym time…I think it gives me some sort of relief for the rest of the week…everybody has their own craze and I guess thats mine! I ALWAYS take Saturday off though

  • Tami November 24, 2008, 10:55 am

monday’s are usually difficult days for me at the gym! only becuase i like a HARD workout, HITT’s or lots of weight lifting….I am trying to just take one day off a week, either Sat. or Sunday.

  • Halie November 24, 2008, 11:00 am

Definitely a yummy lunch! I’m usually the one who gets to food items before my husband does. And then he’s like “You ate ALL the cereal!?!” but it will have been a week or more before he goes to reach for some! He always forgets when we have things stocked in the pantry.

So so exciting wedding details! It’s amazing how things are priced. But finalizing the menu is super exciting! Thats like the start of the last tasks that need to be done!

I love working out on Mondays! I certainly did today! I usually take Saturday or Sunday off if I don’t have fun plans to play soccer or Walliball with my friends. I was able to have yesterday as a rest day, but I watched Run Fat Boy Run too, so that made me want to go run a marathon!

  • lauren November 24, 2008, 11:03 am

oh my goodness – your wedding is so close! exciting! and I have to hide certain things from my BF or else they will not be there when i want them!

  • seeleelive (for the love of peanut butter) November 24, 2008, 11:04 am

oh my gosh!! are you going to tell us whats on the menu!! ?

i used to eat honey bunches of oats alllll the time as a child-they are my favorite to this day! i usually get 2 boxes a year though..not often, they are awesome though!! a nice mix-up!

    love the pb&banana!

  • Bridget November 24, 2008, 11:04 am

Mondays are almost always workout days for me! I feel like it starts my week on the right foot.

  • Katie November 24, 2008, 11:27 am

I like to work out in the mornings on Monday so I start the week off right!

Have fun finalizing your dinner menu! So exciting!

  • Erin of Care to Eat November 24, 2008, 11:59 am

I take Sunday off because it’s the only day Rob and I have together, but I really like doing yoga or something on those days.
Rob is the same way. Asshole!

  • Oh She Glows November 24, 2008, 12:16 pm

haha I wish I could eat like a guy too…

I am still trying to get comfortable with the whole ‘day off’ thing. I always just have listened to my body, so I will keep doing the same even when training for a half marathon I guess. I’m sure as my milage increaes I will need them much more than now.

    40 days! Yay!

I like to workout on Monday. It makes me feel like I got the week off on a good start.

  • tfh November 24, 2008, 12:37 pm

Ah, yes, the food thing. Occasionally my husband will see me heading for the fridge and quickly say, “I’m sorry, I’m sorry, please don’t be mad,” about something he finished, so I do the whole, “Noooo, mad??? Why would I be mad? It’s not a big deal!” but I don’t think I pull it off that well because he always looks a little scared. I can’t complain, though. He never yells at me when I finish our chocolate stash.

  • Allison November 24, 2008, 12:39 pm

My sister and I just had PB and Banana sammies for lunch! Great minds think alike 🙂

  • Tina November 24, 2008, 12:54 pm

That happens all the time in our house too! We usually fight over the bananas! “You had 4 this week and I only had 2!” 🙂

  • Sharney November 24, 2008, 1:01 pm

Sorry to hear that FH ate the last wrap (and the loaf of bread!). I am all too familiar with this problem. I've been married since June and did not live with my husband beforehand. It has been a real adjustment getting used to "sharing" stuff! He goes through food so quickly, while I tend to make it last much longer. I don't know how many times he finishes stuff up that I was planning on for one thing or another! Oh well, like you said, it's all about compromise!

Your lunch looks yummy! I'm with you- you've got to eat what you're craving or else it will haunt you all day long. PB & bananas are sooo good together 🙂

Good luck with your appointment later. It's so hard parting with so much money, isn't it 🙁 Look on the bright side, it will be a beautiful wedding with enough memories to last a lifetime 🙂

I always work out on Mondays to get back in the groove. Especially because I tend to eat a bit more on the weekends and like to start the week off on the right foot. The only time I don't is if I have an event or appointment that keeps me from a workout. I usually like to take off Friday or Sunday. It all depends on how many workouts I got in during the week.

    Have a great workout later!

  • Andrea (Off Her Cork) November 24, 2008, 1:59 pm

I can’t take Monday’s off as I have personal training on those days. Between running, personal training, and martial arts, I’m working out everyday. I consider Friday my relaxing day because I only run that day and nothing else! It’s glorious!

  • Bridget November 24, 2008, 2:19 pm

I’m definintely a Monday work out person! I need it to feel better about the week and the past weekend! I’d much rather have thursdays off too.

I’m nervous about the sharing food thing too, I really like knowing whats available for me. Luckily mt fiance doesnt eat as much as most boys I know, or I’d really be worried haha.

  • Catherine November 24, 2008, 3:04 pm

Hah that has totally happened to me! The bf has been known to eat an entire 1/2 block of cheese in one day (he has a nachos obsession), so I often go into the fridge to get the food I just bought or made only to find an empty spot where it once was.

Wow you’re almost a month away – so awesome!!

  • Amanda November 24, 2008, 3:31 pm

Yummy pb and banana combo!! I really like that cereal as a little extra to something more substantial! The sweetness/crunchiness is a fun little add-in!

I have always liked trying to get a work out in on Mondays just to kindof start the week out right. If I have a wide open night at least I know that I have one workout under my belt!!

Only problem is that with my half-marathon training, long runs were Sundays and then Monday is a rest day! I did my half yesterday (!!) it was totally awesome and I am feeling it today. I plan to do some stretching and abs just to feel a little accomplished!

  • strongandhealthy November 24, 2008, 4:15 pm

My Mondays are pretty hectic, but if I have time I’ll squeeze in a workout.

Glad you’re loving wedding planning!! How fun!!!

  • magpie November 24, 2008, 5:00 pm

I try to do something every day, so I don’t really have designated “rest” days… but only about half of my days have intense workouts so I think it works out. And it just completely depends on what kind of mood I’m in that day. This morning I did the 30-day shred, and I walked during lunch… Tomorrow I’ll probably do yoga and walk… the next day I might run and walk. It’s all very unplanned 🙂

  • thehealthyhostess.com November 24, 2008, 5:37 pm

I always take Thursdays off too! I think that after the whole week you feel like you deserve a break, and then you have to workout on the weekend because you have time and eat and drink more!
    🙂

  • Mica November 24, 2008, 7:00 pm

I second the "I wish I could eat like a boy!" Seriously, I eat two loaves of bread each week for the boyfriend; he eats two PB&J sandwiches for lunch every day!

  • runningwithfood.com November 24, 2008, 7:27 pm

ahh … men are always a riot when it comes to food!!

wow – 40 days! it’s going to be here before you know it! so exciting!!!

  • Justine November 24, 2008, 7:28 pm

I always work out on Mondays. Actually, I tend to work out every day except for when my body just says “no” or I simply don’t have time (however my workouts are a priority for me, so there’s not many times I just don’t have time).

Those boys…they eat so much! I wish I could. My boyfriend doesn’t usually eat things he’s not sure he should. I’ve told him he can eat whatever he wants since he pays for it too but I think he’s still a little worried about certain things. The one thing I hafta watch out for though is salsa. He eats chips and salsa ALL THE TIME and sometimes I need the salsa for a meal and we’re out!

  • Lara November 25, 2008, 9:55 am

Mondays are my off days a lot… simply because it usually means I’m at work until late, and the gym is always packed! Plus I usually get good workouts in over the weekend.

  • Nicole (anotheronebitesthecrust.wordpress.com) November 28, 2008, 6:27 pm

Boo, I never enjoyed it much when my roommates would use up the last of the bread!

I don’t plan out rest days, I just go with the flow.
