That a girl goes through….

 

You know… today was just one of those days, as Mondays usually are! Not to be a Negative Nancy or a Debbie Downer (who are those losers, anyways)!  I did have some wonderful mid-day snacks….

And right before we went to the gym, I had a sample Jocalat (100 calorie size).  I tried the Mint flavor a while back and did NOT like it, but I really loved the Chocolate Hazelnut flavor!  I think the smaller portion made it more likeable — it’s a very strong flavor and a little goes a long way.

The gym was a disaster!  I forgot my knee sleeves and my iPod died within two minutes of arriving.  I managed to jog on the treadmill for 5 minutes and used the elliptical for another 15 before my knee started to make a funny popping sound and I gave up.

 

I lifted weights instead.  I did bicep curps, tricep pushdowns, dual pulley rows, Arnold lifts, and…. I did ab work!  Can you believe it? If you haven’t noticed, I never. ever. ever. do ab work.  I seriously hate crunches, planks, bicycle crunches…. everything!  But, today, I did 90 bicycle crunches and two 30-second planks. Woo hooo!

  • Average Heart Rate: 111 bpm
  • Maximum Heart Rate: 175 bpm
  • Calories Burned: 165

 

Dinner with simple and protein-packed.  I made Spaghetti Bolognese with ground turkey.

My rule with pasta is that I always balance it out with an equally large portion of veggies or salad.

I had a yummy spinach salad with a tomato, carrot, and a few raw broc trees.

Time to work on the holistic supplement website! Launch has been pushed back until Thursday so we can work out a few bugs and have it working PERFECTLY when we go live. 🙂

 

What’s your least favorite exercise? Mine is definitely ab work.  I’d rather run 10 miles than do 100 sit ups.

    I love your vegi/pasta rule! That is a great rule of thumb!

    Least favorite workout- other than pushups I hate almost all shoulder exercises

    So now that I know how much you hate ab work- does this mean you hated my ab post the other day? lol….jk…I’ll forgive you. 😉

    Mine would have to be stretching!!! I’d rather run 10 miles than stretch. Its sickening.

    What a bummer about less than great gym experience…oh well.

    My least favorite workout would have to me leg exercises – but I think I have the wrong idea about them. I have a very muscular build and I always felt that if I did stuff like squats, my legs would get huge! But I’ve recently decided I was wrong to think that.

    I also don’t like ab work 🙂

    I hate ab work too, and I know it’s because my abs are weak and I suck at the exercises. That should make me want to do them more, but that’s just not the case.

    Eww … a popping noise isn’t good! Glad you listened to your body and switched to weights.

    I can’t really think of an exercise I dread doing … at the moment. That will probably all change when I’m doing weights tomorrow! Ha!

    My least favorite workout is my back. I think it’s so uncomfortable laying on my stomach and lifting my arms and legs like I’m flying. Seriously, not fun!

    and what do i hate? i hate strength training and had never done it before i started the blog…i still do it, but i hate it…cause it makes me look buff. LOL.

    I’m not a fan of shoulder exercises because I hurt my rotator cuff 5 years ago and never fixed it… so, my shoulders aren’t strong at all and I have to use very light weights to do the exercises!

    I LOVE ab exercises though. 🙂 I do ab work every single day.

    I’d have to agree with the ab work — there are just so many complicated exercises — who can remember them all? I keep it simple and do crunches and leg raises, and they definitely work the abs! But yeah, that burning sensation in the tummy region is not so fun. 🙂

    I really dislike pushups because they’re really hard and for some reason, I feel really funny doing them at the gym in public.

    I also really dislike the bike unless it’s spinning class … I can’t motivate myself to go that fast unless I’ve got an instructor yelling at me!!

    I hear ya on the frustrating gym experience today – mine was just SO CROWDED and every machine I wanted was taken. grrrr

    I love big salads when I eat spaghetti, pasta, etc…it’s like you can FEEL the balance 🙂

    I don’t hate ab work, but it is definitely the thing I always seem to neglect. I am super fickle when it comes to exercise, one day it’s cardio, one day it’s weights…I NEVER hate spin though 😉

    I abhor running. Really and truly. I love ab work. Because I dislike traditional cardio (indoors or out, name a machine-hate it), I try to make my core work cardio by putting on a playlist and doing bicycle crunches til I’m winded and can do no more. I can do about fifteen minutes straight of bicycle crunches so I figure that’s 15 mins of cardio-ish, right? 🙂 After the 15 minute bike on my back session, I usually immediately flip over for planks. 3 sets of 3 minutes each. and bam a 25 minute workout that’s decent in intensity and short on time.

    sorry about the workout mess, I hate that happen, without music it’s so hard! but you managed to have a good one.
    And very good strategy to have equal size of pasta and salad… I try to not over-eat in pasta because it makes me want to sleep, but sometimes the small portion can’t satisfy my belly, so a salad would be perfect!

    Why is everyone hating on ab work? I LOVE IT. It’s the only thing that gives me results within 72 hours. I broke my rib and for the first time in 17 years, I couldn’t do my 500 crunches every morning. I WAS PISSED.

    Glad you’re feeling better. Your website is awesome, you’re in stellar shape, and you’re marrying the man of your dreams. Just take some deep breaths and get through the little stuff. You rock!

    My least favorite exercise is squats. Ugh! I hate leg related things.

    Also, I hate to be touched while sleeping! I’m not a snuggler at all while sleeping. You stay on your side and I’ll stay on mine! 😀
