Chicken Crock Pot Soup

in All Posts

So, PerezHilton.com and BreatheHeavy.com have been abuzz that Britney’s new album has leaked online.  I managed to wait three days before trying to get my hands on the songs (illegally).  I downloaded one of the songs this AM ("Kill The Lights").

Then, I realized I was being a BAD FAN so I stopped myself from downloading the whole album.  Even if I could get the whole album for free, I’d still purchase it on iTunes to boost the sales, but really…. I should just wait for the official release (I am EAGERLY waiting for December 2).

Do you steal music online or purchase it on iTunes?  Normally, I never download illegally….

My mid-morning snack (eaten while jamming to stolen Britney) was NF plain yogurt + 1/2 cup portioned Grape Nuts.

Lunch was a crock pot soup that I prepped this AM.

I love crock pot soups…. they are so easy and cheaper than buying canned soup!

Ingredients:

  • 10 small red potatoes, cut into tiny pieces
  • 5 frozen chicken tenders, thawed and cut into tiny pieces
  • 2 large carrots, chopped
  • 5 stalks celery, chopped
  • Wolfgang Puck Organic Chicken Broth (large box)
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 tablespoon dried parsley
  • 1 tablespoon pepper

Preparation:

  • Add all ingredients to a crock pot.
  • Cook on low for 4.5 hours.
  • Serve!

Easy, right!?  And delicious.

After portioning out my lunch, I put four cups worth in the fridge and the rest in a freezer ziploc bag for a rainy and cold day. 🙂

With some pickles on the side….

Back to work! Have a great day! See you later for a nice long run.

PS- How silly does Wolfgang Puck look on the soup box?

I had Grape Nuts this weekend for the first time in what seems like forever. I love how they absorb the milk but still have a little crunch!

  • VeggieGirl November 18, 2008, 11:16 am

    Comforting soup!!

Enjoy the rest of your afternoon!

  • Halie November 18, 2008, 11:17 am

Great use of the crock pot! Yummy Yummy soup!

I’m not big on music in general, but my household has downloaded music illegally. But it’s not that often, very very rare!

  • Katie November 18, 2008, 11:21 am

    Delish! What good comfort food!

  • Meghann November 18, 2008, 11:21 am

I have been all about the soup lately!

Thanks, i try to keep my voicemail professional. Did you get my work number from the business card I gave you?

  • Tami November 18, 2008, 11:24 am

i normally don’t get illegal music but they don’t need to charge as much as they do for music these days. most make plenty of money!

  • Tami November 18, 2008, 11:26 am

and i don’t think it was a “mistake” to leak the album

  • Oh She Glows November 18, 2008, 11:28 am

Ohhh I love crock pot soups! I haven’t made mine in a while…I should this week. Its COLD here. 😛

I can’t wait for the Britney album!!!

  • ksgoodeats November 18, 2008, 11:32 am

Fantastic bowl of soup! I love how you’re such a big Britney fan 🙂 It makes me mad when magazines put the worst pictures of her on the cover.

  • Emily November 18, 2008, 11:33 am

That soup sounds really good! I have bookmarked it to make later 🙂

I don’t usually download anything illegally. I once downloaded an episode of Gossip Girl I missed, because (here in NZ) the episodes are not on iTunes or anywhere else I could pay. So I guess, if I can’t find where I can buy it legally, I will download :/ Saying that, if I want the whole thing I get your wonderful Amazon.com to mail it to me 🙂

  • Caitlin (see bride run) November 18, 2008, 11:34 am

ksgoodeats – grrrrrrrr it makes me so mad too!!!! people seem to be out to get her, and i really felt bad for her when she had that breakdown — who can blame her for cracking under all that pressure? i also really hate it when people judge her music without listening to it — it’s actually really great and so different than the “hit me baby one more time” days (although that’s good too). 🙂

    Hi Caitlin!

I want to compliment you on your post about giving the girl at the gym your phone number. My first job out of college was a teaching/traveling gig in which I lived in a different place nearly every month. I did this alone so I never knew anyone in the places I lived. I loved it but it really taught me how difficult it can be to make friends, especially when you are the new person and do not know anyone. If someone like you had done that for me it would have meant the world to me.

Now that I am more settled, I have made an effort to make friends with the new people I meet. I recently gave a girl my number who had just moved to my town and now we are pretty good buddies. I honestly do not care if someone thinks I am weird or being too forward! It is worth it to reach the people who need friends in this world.

Sorry for the long winded post – I just wanted to say great job!

I don’t know about you, but I’m so so so excited for Britney’s MTV Documentary to air on November 30. I commend her for being so open and honest about her struggles over the last few years and I can’t wait to hear what she has to say. How can you not root for her when she says things like this:

“There’s no excitement, there’s no passion. I have really good days, and then I have bad days. Even when you go to jail you know there’s the time when you’re gonna get out. But in this situation, it’s never ending. It’s just like Groundhog Day every day. . . I think it’s too in control. If I wasn’t under the restraints I’m under, I’d feel so liberated. When I tell them the way I feel, it’s like they hear but they’re really not listening. If you do something wrong in your work, you can move on, but I’m having to pay for a long time. I never wanted to become one of those prisoner people. I always wanted to feel free. I think I’ve learnt my lesson now and enough is enough.”

    Oh, wolfgang….

    YUM CROCKPOT!!! AND PICKLES 🙂

  • girlrunningaround November 18, 2008, 12:24 pm

I ALWAYS buy on itunes. Getting music free of the internet may seem enticing, but if you get caught doing it you can be fined over $500/song. Even for songs you no longer think you have on your computer. I just had a client who was fined over $300,000. It’s just not worth it.

  • Sharney November 18, 2008, 12:24 pm

Your soup looks so delicious. Can you believe that I’ve never made homemade soup. I never even have thought about it, but after looking at yours, I gotta say I’m gonna give it a whirl! YUM!

You are right, Wolfgang Puck looks like such a dork on that soup box!

Good luck with your long run tonight, but most importantly, HAVE FUN!!!!!!

MY BEST FRIEND (KNOWN AS DRUM MAJOR ON THE BLOG) JUST MET HIM!

She said he looks like a good in person too, but was super nice and came over to their table to see how their meal was.

  • Kristin November 18, 2008, 1:46 pm

    Fun story:
On my way home from Italy this summer, our arrival was on time, but getting off the plane took extra long, and my friend and I (both big foodies and future chefs!) had no idea why… until we got off the plane and the first thing my sister said to me was, “Hi, Wolfgang Puck was on your flight! He’s really short!”
Not “Nice to see you after being away for a month in Italy”, no. Wolfgang Puck had to come first 😉

  • vegannurse November 18, 2008, 1:58 pm

Normally, I TRY to buy my music on iTunes, but if it’s not available, or I’m broke, or I’m just too darn impatient, I will download illegally.

I’ve been pretty good about now downloading illegally these past few weeks though.. I just listen to online radios or youtube it. 😉

I can’t wait for Britney’s album, too, Caitlin! I liked the Kill the Lights preview, but the one song I REALLY liked and can’t wait til it’s available is “Unusual You”.

Food looks yummy, btw, as always…
