Yoga Heals Me!

in All Posts

Good evening!  I just came home from yoga, which was FANTASTIC.  I feel so much better about life in general after yoga.  :)  And, I’m really starting to think that yoga is an integral part of training.

Thanks to all of your feedback on my lunchtime post, I learned that I should NOT eat a large dinner before yoga… lest I vomit during a downward dog. 🙂

I planned ahead by pushing back one of my mid-day snacks to 3:00 PM and the second one to 6:30.  Of course, I had my normal yogurt + granola.

And, I had a smoothie about 1 1/2 hour before class…

The smoothie contained:

  • 1 cup skim milk
  • 1 large banana
  • 1 scoop Muscle Milk Light

Last, but not least… I also munched on a serving of canned peaches packed in pear juicemmm mmm mmm! These are a great alternative to fresh fruit!

And, when I got home from yoga, I ate the dinner I had made in advance…. Kashi Pilaf, chicken with BBQ sauce, and broc.

Orthopaedic Doctor Appointment

I am so, so glad the work week is over (I’m on a flex schedule and have tomorrow off).   I’ve got a FUN run planned for tomorrow morning.. wooo hooo!

Plus, I have an appointment with an orthopaedic doctor who specializes in sports medicine!  My leg has continued to give me trouble, and I want to nip this problem in the bud before it becomes a BIG DEAL

I picked this clinic because the website boasts, "Jewett Orthopaedic Clinic serves as the official team physicians for the Orlando Magic, University of Central Florida, Rollins College, and the Orlando Predators."  If they’re good enough for professional athletes, they’re good enough for me! 🙂

Does anyone have any questions they want me to ask the doctor while I’m there?  My insurance sucks, so I might as well squeeze as much as I can out of this appointment! 🙂

Sleep tight!

Hooray for fantastic yoga session!! It’s definitely refreshing/healing.

    Peaches + broccoli = yum :0)

Good luck with your appointment tomorrow!! Could you possible ask the doctor about “charley horses”??? I get them in my feet and calves from time to time, during my dance practices :0(

By the way, I saw what you commented on Kath’s lunch post, about my guest post – LUV YA!!! :0)

Hope your leg quits giving you problems and the doctor can give you some good advice! I’d been fortunate to not have any problems until recently with my hip thing. It may be my IT band…not sure. I just did some cross-training today though and will tomorrow, too…then the 5k is Saturday! Hopefully I can still do a long run Sunday, but we’ll see how my hip/IT band/whatever is feeling. Can’t wait to hear how your appointment goes!

I do yoga at least once a week, and I definitely feel that it is an integral part of training! All those muscles need to be stretched and strengthened!

best wishes w/ your appt. Great blog!! and OH-keep buying those Z bars! never feel bad about that-you should treat yourself with someone every day!! I eat bars alot as well, and although i’d like to switch to more whole foods to satisfy my body, bars are sometimes the most convenient. and plus…..they usually taste awesome. some of them are so sweet i eat them before bed, but usually they are an in-between snack. And I love Clif and everything they have to offer!!!!!

  • Caitlin (see bride run) October 17, 2008, 3:51 am

    Lee – Thanks!

I guess i feel bad about my excessively Z-BAR eating habits because (1) its boring for the blog and (2) i don’t like to feel addicted to any food, which is how i’m starting to feel about z-bars 🙂 but otherwise, i completely agree with you!
