VIDEO: Water Running!

in All Posts

Good evening! My first day of WATER RUNNING was so much fun!

I thought the concept of water running would be easier to explain via VIDEO, so here’s your first look at me in motion (Oh, the video cut off the beginning, but all you missed was, "Hey guys! It’s Caitlin!"):

Sorry if it’s kind of hard to understand me!  The pool is loud and everything ECHOES-ECHOES-ECHOES! 🙂

I water ran for 45 minutes.  It was a fun work out, and the water dumbbells definitely helped me burn MORE calories and work my arm muscles, too!  And yes…. I wore shorts in the pool. 🙂 The only swimsuits I own are string bikinis.

Here are my statistics:

  • Duration: 45 minutes
  • Average Heart Rate: 120 bpm
  • Maximum Heart Rate: 135 bpm
  • Calories Burned: 223

As you can tell from my statistics, water running is DEFINITELY not as intense as regular running…. but it was really FUN and I’m SO pumped about this new workout!  Plus, no pain in my knees! Yay!

After our workouts, we headed to the grocery store. I snacked on two slices of deli meat and a slice of cheese at the deli counter.

Dinner – Guest Chef!

Future Husband did the cooking tonight! He made Chicken Asparagus Szechuan Stir Fry.   We added two pineapple rings on the top.

Hubs LOVES sauces, so we bought a new one to try:

The pineapple definitely added a little SOMETHING SOMETHING! Plus, it cooled down the sauce A LOT. It was VERY spicy!

And we finally purchased some brown rice, which is just so much more pleasing to my palette than white rice.

And… for dessert… I had a Z-Bar.  No picture… but yes, I purchased MORE! ECK!

Mid-Day Snacks

Since we were out of pretty much EVERYTHING, I had to subside on carbs+ PB.  Mid-Day Snack #1:

And Mid-Day Snack #2 (a frozen waffle, PB, banana, and a drizzle of maple syrup):

Do you see the smiley face of PB and the banana hairdo? 🙂

Time for trashy TV! Have a wonderful night!

I have had a foot injury for quite some time now that…it even hurts riding the stationary bike! My doc said to try and stay off of my foot completely and I told him he’s crazy haha. He said I should maybe try water running, so I was wondering where you got your equipment for it? Was it expensive? Thanks!

DId you get the $2.99 whole pineapple at publix this week? I see a lot of pineapple in our future!

P.S. My Lentils won the contest! I think it was all your help at presentation that won them over. Want to sample a Lentil cookie when they arrive?

Nice Job on the Water Run! I have done that many times for track but NEVER with Dumbells!!! How cute- how did you get those??

I cooked organic red lentils today and they turned out like a green mush- is that right? What are they supposed to turn out like? I have never cooked them before and figured you would know…

  • HangryPants October 20, 2008, 7:10 pm

Thanks for the video! I am now informed to the ways of water running, but how on earth did you do that for 45 minutes? Were you not bored beyond belief? Were there other people with you?

  • Bridget October 20, 2008, 7:14 pm

I was wondering the same thing- did you get bored water running??

Monday night trashy TV is the best 🙂

    Hi Caitlin,
Thanks for posting the video- it was so cool! Maybe water running doesn’t burn as many calories as regular running, but I bet it does an excellent job of toning muscles! It looks like fun- maybe I will try it sometime soon! My husband is a swimmer and I’m a runner, so water running would be a great activity to do together! Anyhow, I’m glad you had so much fun!

P.S. I loved your cute little waffle banana person!

  • Justine October 20, 2008, 8:01 pm

    Yay, a video!
Glad the water running was a success! If I owned anything other than bikinis I feel like I would maybe do swimming and maybe even some water running for cross-training.
Dinner looks yummy! I love adding pineapple to savory/spicy dishes!

  • Katie October 20, 2008, 8:02 pm

Awesome! Thanks for the video 🙂

I’ve been pretty bummed about not being able to do anything recently so I hope I can get myself out of my apartment to give water running a try. I’ve got to find a place that sells the equipment!

  • runningwithfood.com October 20, 2008, 8:04 pm

Great video! Haven’t tried water running, but may need to soon. Yum dinner!

  • eatingbender October 20, 2008, 9:48 pm

I love this video!! Thanks for sharing the info because I’ve never really exercised in the pool before (other than swimming laps of course).

I also love the PB + banana smiley! So cute :o)

  • VeggieGirl October 21, 2008, 3:39 am

Ahhh, the sound on my laptop isn’t working right now – I can’t hear the video!! :0( But it LOOKS fabulous :0)

LOOOOOVE the PB-Banana smiley face!!! Too cute.

  • Sammie October 21, 2008, 5:31 am

Thanks for the video – that really does seem like a fun new workout. I wish they had a pool at my gym so I could try it out 🙁
You are a lucky girl having a FH that cooks and it always looks so yummy. Have a great day.

  • Kath October 21, 2008, 9:49 am

Great hilarious video!! Pool running is funny, but I can see how it will really help. My mom and her friends used to pool walk all the time when I was little.

  • Gail October 21, 2008, 6:19 pm

Your video demo was great – very encourging to anyone who has an injury or isn’t interested in running in the 90 degree heat of Florida. You look great!

  • Mom October 21, 2008, 6:24 pm

    Hi Caitlin,

It’s mom. I loved your video. Seeing the weight belt and hand weights was great. Your creativity lead you to another safer exercise training technic!! You go girl…..
