I’m So Happy I Could CRY!

in All Posts

GUESS WHAT?? I got to go on a RUN tonight! :)  The miracle cure?  My new knee sleeves!!!

DSCN0002

Looks pretty silly, huh? But seriously…. they WORKED.  I literally could feel them holding my patella in place.  Plus, the knee sleeves didn’t slip down, chafe, or otherwise irritate me!  They are made of a wet suit-like material, which isn’t exactly a sweat-wicking fabric…. but that’s OK with me, as long as I can run!

If any of you are having trouble with your knees, I recommend you try these out.  Each one is only $18.99.  I ordered a small and it fits perfectly.  If you sign up for the REI newsletter, you get 10% off your first purchase!

I quickly ran 3.0 miles with a stupid grin plastered on my face the entire time!  I didn’t want to push it, so I came home after 26 minutes.  Here are my statistics:

  • Duration: 26 minutes (3.0 miles)
  • Average Heart Rate: 169 bpm
  • Maximum Heart Rate: 188 bpm
  • Calories Burned: 250

Today’s Eats

I ended up having FOUR afternoon snacks because I worked until 7:00 PM (stupid overtime).  I started with a Z-Bar.  Continuing the tradition of photographing my daily Z-Bar in front of an interesting background, here’s my Z-Bar in front of all my wedding supplies.

It’s pretty messy…. I need to organize!

Later, I had some cantaloupe.

And around 3:30, I had Kashi Go Lean Crunch! with yogurt and a drizzle of maple syrup.  I used to be a big fan of Kashi Go Lean Crunch!, but…. I don’t know.  Not as crazy for it as I used to be.

Once I realized that I wasn’t leaving work until really late, I knew I needed a BIG snack.  I ate two waffles + some PB + MORE maple syrup (just a smidge) around 6:30.  This served as my pre-run snack…. by the time I left for my run, it was TOTALLY dark out!

After my run, I ran some errands and stopped at the grocery store to buy a whole rotisserie chicken.  Each chicken is only $7 and the ingredient list is rather short.

I had 1/2 a chicken breast, 1 cup of brown rice, and some steamed asparagus.   Quick and easy.

I microwaved the asparagus in a bowl of water for 6 minutes and then sprinkled garlic salt on top.

DSCN0007 Off to relax! I hope you had a GREAT evening, too! 🙂

    Hi Caitlin,
I posted a comment earlier today on your last post, but it’s not there (???) Anyway, I just wanted to answer your question about the color of my dog. Yes, he’s red!! So funny, huh?! It’s an interesting color that you don’t see everyday. Anyhow, he is a Vizsla which is a Hungarian breed used for hunting. On a funny note, Clifford the Big Red Dog (you know, those series of children’s books by Norman Bridwell) well, Clifford is supposed to be a Vizsla. I didn’t know this when we got our dog or else guess what his name would be?!?!

    Yay!!!!

Sometimes I don’t take pictures of things I eat all the time, but I like how you do and show them in context (i.e. ZBar).

By the way, I’ve been seeing your French Waffles all over the place. I need to try them. Yum.

    Hi Caitlin,

When you run in the dark, do you have one of those lights that attach to you or do you just run in well-lit areas?

  • Caitlin (see bride run) October 22, 2008, 7:33 pm

    tina:

I used to have one of those for my right knee when I played soccer. They do work well!!

  • Simple and Divine October 22, 2008, 7:43 pm

YAYYY! I used to wear the straps that go UNDER your knee… NOW I wear nothing because I can’t do ANYTHING that puts pressure on my foot.. :-\

Oh well… Luckily there are other parts of life that I enjoy haha.

I’m SO RELIEVED though, that you found your salvation! After all of this crazy doctor mumbojumbo it’s about time! And I’m sure the hubby is happy? No more Western Medicine Crazies 🙂

And your eating is SO well balanced! You really have the epitome of a balanced diet and are so noteworthy in your lifestyle, Cait. I really admire that 🙂
