Cheesey Lunch and Wedding Details (Favors!)

Good afternoon! How are you? I’m good… work is work. I have a lot to do this week, so I’m totally buckling down and focusing.

A Fine Balance

I did take a brief break to look at the news (gotta stay up to date on the election!) and I saw this article on New York Times. It’s a very interesting profile of a gourmet chef who took up running and lost 45 pounds while training for the NY Marathon. Because he loves food so much, he has a very balanced outlook on running and eating:

“If you have to get up at 7 a.m. and run a 20k, maybe you have a half a glass of wine instead of three, because three at Mile 4 — you start to feel every ounce of that wine,” he said.

Love it!

It’s Freezing in Here!

By the way, it’s FREEZING in central Florida right now…. relatively speaking. I cracked all the windows so I could turn off the AC, and now it’s an ice box in my apartment. Maggie is walking around in her winter coat to stay warm (James has enough fur as it is):

She could be a model, seriously.

Snacks and Lunch

Around 10, I had a Spooky Smores Z-Bar. Do you think they’ll come out with a Christmas flavor?!

And for lunch, I was positively craving a grilled cheese sammie. I love to eat hot sandwiches when it’s cold outside!

I added some spinach to make it a tad healthier…

And I sliced the sandwich into quarters to make it last a little longer. Otherwise, I tend to just shove the whole half in my mouth at once!

On the side, I had a huge carrot and a Gala apple, sprinkled with cinnamon.

Wedding Details: Favors!

I wanted to show you all our wedding favors. We are doing tons of "DIY" projects for the wedding (favors, programs, candles, etc). We decided to go with candy for the favors because we wanted something inexpensive and practical. And who doesn’t like candy?

I bought silver boxes from Beaucoup.com, and we’re going to fill them up with yellow M&Ms (our wedding color).

I used MyWeddingLabels.com to create lovely scallop-shaped stickers that say our names and "Thank You." The palm tree motif is part of our overall Florida theme.

I hope our guests will enjoy them! I always like receiving candy at weddings. 🙂

I love those M&M ideas!! they are SO Precious!!! i know i cannot wait to pick out all my wedding stuff. how did you decide on yellow? that is such a fun, bright and happy color!

and that sammie does look delish ( i like the nickname, too.) but please, you think it's cold in FL?!!! HOW ABOUT PA?! It's sooo cold here girl!! But that dog jacket is sooooo adorable don't get me startedd

where did you get maggie that coat? i still need to get out puppies some practical ones (even though the pink and purple ones with fur collars are very cute)– they need something sporty for their walks 😀

SOOO cute! those are like ours… we had silver tins (but they were circle) with a label on them and black and white M&Ms inside… they were a hit! yours are SOOO cute!

I love dogs in coats! I made a peacoat for my pomeranian and I love her in it way more than she likes being in it, unfortunately.

Good choice on the wedding favors! I did candy boxes at my wedding too! (Three years ago) My colors were similar to yours, I had light green and yellow jelly bellies in pretty green boxes. But I added a splash of hot fuchsia pink by tying a thin ribbon in that color around the box.

Spooky Smores ZBar!? That sounds heavenly! I haven’t seen those babies around here! So jealous!

Maggie looks so cute in her coat! Where did you get it? We’re going to need one for my freezie cat doxie too!

I love the wedding favors, they are really classy. Plus you really can’t go wrong with giving out candy!

wouldn’t it totally rock if they came out with a christmas flavor? i still think they should try making a pb chocolate zbar…LOL.

i read on meghann’s blog it was in the 50’s in central florida this morning, and made you guys cold…it was in the 60’s last night/this morning here in SD and I was cold to the bone! i had way too many cups of hot tea at work this morning because of it! lOL!

A Christmas Z-bar would be great; maybe along the lines of gingerbread or sugar cookie; yum!

Our wedding favors are going to be quite similar. Our flowers are mostly sunflowers and I thought it would be cute to do a sort of trail mix, so we're mixing sunflower seeds with personalized M&Ms in little boxes.

I love those little tins… excellent choice! Don’t forget to make your bridesmaids do all the work… you are supposed to be the princess.

I turned the AC off at my aprtment too! That should save me at least a couple of dollars this month!

Very cute wedding favors! We did M&Ms too! Ours were pink and in little brown boxes with our names and the date on them. You're totally right…who doesn't like candy? 🙂

What cute favors!!!

Every time I see you have a S’mores Z Bar I get a tiny (TINY, i swear) pang of jealousy… my Whole Foods doesn’t sell them! They have boxes and boxes of Blueberry, but no spooky flavor. So sad.

P.S. that sammie looks delish, I might be having that for lunch tomorrow!

Thanks for the link to the article- it was very interesting! It is also sooooooo cold here. Unseasonably cold! I hate it-it feels like wintertime already. Maggie looks super cute in her pretty red coat! I am going to have to buy a coat for my dog. I feel so bad for him when we go on walks and I'm all bundled up. He's a short haired dog, I imagine he must be cold!

I hope they make a Christmas flavored z-bar! That would be so cool! I still never came across the halloween spooky s'mores, so I suppose I probably wouldn't find the Christmas one either!

Love, love, LOVE the favors!!!! So sweet & elegant! Everyone loves candy-especially m&ms. They will be a hit and everyone will have a nice keepsake box to reuse!

Everyone loves edible favors! I love that future husband is so involved with the wedding plans. I bet it will be beautiful.

So, I hope they have a Christmas flavor Z-bar, but I pray it doesn’t involve mint.
