Brews and Lunch

in All Posts

Hello, all! I’m definitely enjoying my vacation.  I’m also VERY glad I snuck a run in this AM, because it’s only 3 PM and I’ve already had two beers. :)  And Lisette just asked me if I wanted a glass of wine!

Haha…. so… yes, I’m on vacation, blogging, and drinking this in the middle of the afternoon:

So, anyways…. after breakfast, the husbands went to the football game, and Lisette and I drove to the fancy part of town to buy her bridesmaid dress.  Isn’t this the most beautiful drive, ever?

After a quick trip to David’s Bridal, we decided to stop at an intimation German Bierhaus called Fritz and Franz (please, please visit their website for a good laugh).  I had a 14 oz.  Warsteiner Octoberfest brew.

And we split a beer pretzel.  I felt like I was in Germany.

After a lot of gossiping, we left the beer house and went to Chili’s for lunch…. we split a buy-one-get-one free beer.  I had Sam Adam’s Octoberfest.

And I had a Guiltless Grill Chicken Sammie with a side of black beans and veggies.  It was pretty good.  I liked how the menu gave me the nutritional information–this lunch was 480 calories…. not counting the beer, of course!

Lisette and I were going to go lay out by the pool, but its currently thunderstorming.  So now we’re drinking wine and playing Mario Cart Wii.  I’m SOOOO EXCITED because I’ve never played Wii before!

Off to be the Princess! 🙂 See you!

How do you feel about restaurants posting nutritional information in the menu? I love it–I feel like it helps me make an informed choice!

Hooray!! So much fun you’ve been having already!!

    Gorgeous drive, indeed!!

I too think that it is great to have the nutritional information available on menus.

KEEP ENJOYING YOUR VACATION, GIRL!!! :0)

Live up your vacation! I have a Sam Adams Octoberfest beer in the fridge I might just consume tonight 🙂 And think of the Chili’s beer as half of a beer becuase thats really what they served you!

By the way your video made me dizzy!!! 🙂

I really like having the nutritional info, but I do wonder about the accuracy. A ballpark is better than nothing though, fo sho! I recently, out of sheer curiosity, slapped two pieces of my favorite bread onto my food scale (which piece of equipment I had retired after my crazy counting days, but still use on occasion for baking and measuring out meat for burgers, etc.), and lo and behold, it was much heavier than what two pieces are supposed to be for the listed calorie count. I’m kidna pissed. I almost wish I didn’t know now! argh

Sounds like you are having a wonderful time on your vacay! I am super jealous! I love Sam Adam’s!

BTW, I love the idea of posting nutritional values at restaurants. It definitely makes me think twice before choosing my meal!

Vacation looks like it’s going great, funnesss 🙂

I like it when the nutritionals are posted on the menu… i’ve read horror stories about people realizing their “salads” were 1,000+ calories. ridiculous!

    you’re gorgeous, girl! 🙂

meghann – do ittttt! then i won’t feel like an alceey!

tara – i’ve seen you tube videos about how measuring food with cups and tablespoons always serve up much higher portions than weighing your food. don’t let stuff like that get to you. its no way to live! 🙂

BSL – oooo yes! some salads at restaurants can be big whoppers!

I read religiously, but have never posted, and I just HAD to comment — whooeee, look at those legs! You’re gorgeous!

  • sportsnutritionliving October 11, 2008, 4:01 pm

I actually really like chilis menu.. i get the blck bean burger and you can tell it is healthier because it is not all greasy. I think they often mis-judge nutritional info but at least it is some step foward!

  • Caitlin (see bride run) October 11, 2008, 4:44 pm

anon – ::blush:: thank you! i have running to thank for my glams, for sure!

sportsliving – i agree. the nutritional info is probably a little off, but its better than nothing.

  • Bridget October 11, 2008, 5:54 pm

OMG it looks like your having so much fun this weekend!!! Jealous!! I love oktoberfest beers…so yummy!

I really like seeing nutritional info as well. I don’t think I would feel it necessary for a more high end restaurant (because you’re usually there to celebrate anyways), but for everyday type places definitely. I think it would be a great wake up call for a lot of people.

  • HangryPants October 11, 2008, 7:51 pm

Glad you’re having such fun with your friend. I like nutritional info on menus. It’s a reality check!

  • BOBBI McCORMICK October 11, 2008, 8:48 pm

Yeah for girl times! I love that they post the nurtitional values, if they dont I just bust out the Iphone…lol

  • Elina October 13, 2008, 6:57 pm

OMG, I loooove when restaurants post nutritional information. I wish they all did! This way you can make an informed decision about what you’re eating.

Your blog is still not updating on my bloglines account 🙁
