I used to drive 25 minutes to the nearest dog park, which was an all-around horrible experience because Maggie cries and whines the entire time. She’s a rescue dog and has the worst anxiety ever! Luckily, this past spring, we found a MUCH closer park–only about 1/4 mile away! It was right under our noses the whole time!

I went to the dog park right after the gym, all smelly and sweaty. The dog park closes at 8 PM so I only had 30 minutes at the gym. I hopped on the elliptical for 15 minutes and the stairclimber for another 15 minutes. I usually find these machines SO frustrating because I feel like I get such a better workout running outside. To make sure I got the maximum burn, I bumped up the resistance level very high, and I left feeling satisfied!
Here are my statistics:

  • Duration: 30:11
  • Average Heart Rate: 139 bpm
  • Maximum Heart Rate: 167
  • Calories Burned: 198 (mehhhh!)
After the gym, I raced home, grabbed the poochies, and threw my tupperwared dinner in my bag. Once we got to the park (with minimal whining), I sat at a picnic table and enjoyed my salmon salad.

This scrumptious salad contained:

  • 1.75 ounce of baked salmon, encrusted with some Grape Nuts (got to use up those two boxes!)
  • 1 cup of spinach
  • 1 large carrot, chopped
  • 1 plum tomato
  • 1 tablespoon goat cheese
  • 1/2 tablespoon pine nuts

Keeping on eye on Maggie and James (they had fun, as usual!), I flipped through a bridal magazine. There was a feature spread of wedding flowers, which was timely because I’m going to book our florist this weekend or next!

So You Think You Can Dance? Snack

Now, we’re watching “So You Think You Can Dance” (we watch American Idol, America’s Got Talent, and SYTYCD obsessively) and Mary Murphy’s SCREAMING is making me want to throw up, but I’ve still got room for chocolate!

I had two delicious square of Dove and a cup of skim milk. Doesn’t that just look GORGEOUS?

Unspectacular Quirk # 1

I have horrendously bad taste in music. It’s actually really embarrassing. I never let people look through my iPod because they always end up staring at me in horror. For example, my current workout playlist boasts the likes of: Britney Spears, Rihanna, Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus…. sometimes I stumble upon some “good-bad” artist, like Kerli. Check her out!

Unspectacular Quirk # 2

I have an intense and undying obsession with cupcakes. All my family and friends know about this obsession, and I’ve actually been given the SAME cupcake cookbook 3 times by 3 different people. My love affair with the petite cakes started in Pittsburgh at this amazing place called DOZENS. If you are ever in Pittsburgh, you must go to Dozens! Once, I called the bakery manager and begged him to give me the icing recipe–and he refused!

Unspectacular Quirk #3

About three months into our engagement, I bought a wedding dress on a whim, and I ended up hating it a week later. It was really different and unusual…. and actually kind of ugly. Future Husband would’ve gagged as I walked down the aisle! So, I called the bridal store and asked about their return policy. They said you can only return a dress in an “extreme circumstance.” I went into the store, put on my best serious face, and said, “My future mother-in-law told me she hated my dress, and I can’t possibly wear it!” They took it back, and I got my dream dress.

Unspectacular Quirk #4

We have two dogs, Maggie Thatcher and James Bond. I bake them birthday cakes, they sleep in our bed, and we generally consider them to be our babies. We love animals SO MUCH!

Unspectacular Quirk #5

I am SCUBA certified and have dove to depths of 110 feet! It’s a great sport, but I haven’t done it in a long time. The last time I went on a dive, my father and I got into a bad car accident on the way there. We actually crashed in front of a military base, and there were paramedics on site so we got help right away. For some reason, we never went diving again.

Unspectacular Quirk #6

I am really bad with money, but I’m trying to learn how to be better for Future Husband’s sake! I’ve worked continuously since I was 15, but I’ve always spent my money on huge trips–I’ve been to Europe four times, Mexico twice, and all over the US. I like to “live for the moment,” but as I am getting older, I realize there are a lot of things I should be saving for–like our wedding, a house, babies, etc.
