My pal Megan came to visit me! Megan and I have been friends since we both lived in Orlando a few years ago; it’s always such a blast to see her.
She got to Charlotte around 2 PM yesterday, and we spent the night drinking mimosas and playing video games with Nicole. Oh yeah. Wild and crazy.
Megan was my first serious running buddy – we used to run 2 – 3 times a week together – and we always make a point to go on a jog when she visits. It was terribly cold outside this morning (by Charlotte standards), but we braved the weather and did 3.0 miles. Megan actually just did two marathons (basically back-to-back – crazy!) and is gearing up for a half in March.
Post-run oatmeal.
This was the PERFECT BOWL of oatmeal. All on the stovetop:
1/2 cup oats
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup soy milk
Dash of vanilla extract
Sprinkle of cinnamon
1/2 a really ripe banana
Toppings: brown sugar, almonds, chia seeds
Baby photo bomb…
After our run, our mutual friend Katy stopped by, and we spent the morning drinking coffee and playing with Henry. Good times.
Lunch was pretty standard fare. I wondering when I’m going to get sick of this meal! :-/
It was such a nice visit… I wish Megan didn’t have to go back to DC so soon!

Best way to spend a morning, I say! Could’ve spent all afternoon hanging out. Great seeing you both!
Ah this looks like such a fun catch-up date! One of my blogger buddies is coming to visit (I’m picking her up at the airport this afternoon!) and I know the weekend is totally going to fly so we’ll have to pack as much in as possible. Oh, and for the record, scrambled veggies and kale never gets old if you ask me!
That’s so great to have an old friend in town! And I’ve never had a running buddy like that, my friends who like to run don’t live close enough to do it regularly!
I’m curious to know what the cold weather temp was….it’s 31 here right now and I’m contemplating if I’m going outdoors or hitting the ‘mill for my run after work.
That baby photo bomb is probably the cutest thing I have ever seen. Love that chubby little hand!
We all miss catching up with Megan on her old blog! Wish she would pop in even once to update us on what’s happening!
Running buddies are the best. I just moved from the east coast to Oregon and I miss my running friends back there! It’s harder to hit the pavement on my own!
Always nice to catch up with great friends! Also, looks like it may be time to invest in on of those “Lifeproof” iPhone cases if Henry is finding it more useful as a slobber/chew toy now!
Happy Holidays to your family!
Just wanted to let you know that I ordered 2 copies of your new book last night…one for me and one for my niece
I also ordered the original Operation Beautiful book. I cannot wait to read them!
Megan! I miss her blog so much, glad you caught us up on a small portion
I used to read Megan’s blog-I miss it. Glad to see she’s doing well!
I love visiting with old friends, so fun. I swear I could eat oatmeal for any meal!
Back to back? As in, consecutive days?
I’d have loved to have seen Megan blog about that
Could I plead for a guest post? I remember reading both of your blogs when you were training together – you’re the ones that inspired me to run marathons.
Ah…I miss the good old days of blogging
oh no, like within a few weeks
15 days apart… what a dumb idea.
Tell Megan I need a running/workout buddy in the DC area if she ever needs one!
Hi Alexa! I could always use workout buddies
we should get in touch!

Baby eats phone. Is that like the dog ate my homework? Is that covered by Apple Care?
I am going to Seattle in 1 week to visit my bestfriend and first running buddy. This post just got me even more excited than I already was.
That oatmeal looks really great! Brown sugar makes everything better.
I miss Megan too!! Come back, Megan! You two are a great team!
And that baby is cutest in the world, ever!
