Got Talent

in All Posts

We were watching America’s Got Talent, and during a commercial break, I casually said to the Husband, “If you auditioned for American’s Got Talent, what would your talent be?”  I thought he’d say, “Oh, I dunno” and make a joke because – heck – that’s what I would say! I have no talent show skills.

But then he ran into the back room, grabbed his golf club and a ball, and did this:

I can’t believe he busted out this cool hidden talent that I never knew about.  Still learning new things about each other after all these years.

It was harder than it looks.  Trust me.

Do you have a secret hidden talent?  Spill!

  • Baking 'n' Books July 6, 2011, 9:57 pm

You guys are too adorable and made for each other.

And there’s something about discovering new talents that’s kind of sexy 😉

  • Kristina @ spabettie July 6, 2011, 9:57 pm

  • Dori July 6, 2011, 10:07 pm

WOW! What a cool talent! How do people discover they can do these things! I love that you had no idea too.

  • Maria July 6, 2011, 10:12 pm

I think at some point in a boys life, they sit around and practice things like this. He’s kind of awesome!

My secret talent is cleaning. Seriously, I’m great at it. I hate practicing though. 😉

  • Bee Goes Bananas July 6, 2011, 10:12 pm

Wow that’s incredible!! I don’t have any special talent like that.

  • Wendy July 6, 2011, 10:15 pm

Haha that’s awesome! No secret talents here, unless being a good navigator counts – I’m a truck driver’s daughter and inherited my sense of direction. 🙂 When I was in high school I backed out of the local fair queen contest because I couldn’t come up with any kind of “peforming” talent.

    • CaitlinHTP July 7, 2011, 11:01 am

I wish I had your talent!

  • Mary July 6, 2011, 10:18 pm

    Haha!! Go husband goo!!

  • Rebecca July 6, 2011, 10:22 pm

That’s so cool! I would enjoy watching something like that.
I like the guy who did the yo-yo thing; one of the guys I graduated with can do that. It’s so neat. 🙂

I don’t think I have any hidden talents, unfortunately. Haha.

  • Steph July 6, 2011, 10:24 pm

    that is sooooooooo cool!!

  • Eve July 6, 2011, 10:27 pm

Hilarious! I love that show, too. I can say the alphabet backwards, but I don’t think that’s exactly the stuff of prime time tv, haha.

  • DadHTP July 6, 2011, 10:32 pm

Was it supposed to say ” an error occurred” when I tried to watch your segment? LOL

    Bravo, Kristien

  • katie @ KatieDid July 6, 2011, 10:34 pm

hahahha i think its hilarious that you had no clue he could do such a thing! And A for effort on your part, it looks tough.

  • Deva (Voracious Vorilee) July 6, 2011, 10:34 pm

That’s cool! Where do guys learn to do stuff like this? Where can I learn??

-your earlier post inspired me to write a post of my own, btw: http://www.voraciousvorilee.com/vorilee/2011/07/choices-choices.html

  • Sarena (The Non Dairy Queen) July 6, 2011, 10:37 pm

Mine’s not really a secret talent…I bake. Your man is super talented! I love seeing people do fun things and finding hidden talents!

  • Presley (Run Pretty) July 6, 2011, 10:39 pm

    Ok, Tiger! That’s seriously amazing.

And I have no talents. haha. I can’t even whistle.

  • Laura @ Cookies vs. Carrots July 6, 2011, 10:44 pm

Hahaha, I love this! I think he should try out!

  • Lisa @ Sunny Seed Stories July 6, 2011, 10:46 pm

I am never without a creative idea. Does that count as a talent?

  • Anna July 6, 2011, 10:50 pm

I can open beer bottles with my teeth! Trick I learned in Africa, where openers are sometimes scarce.

    • CaitlinHTP July 7, 2011, 11:02 am

      Omg don’t chip a tooth!

  • Ashley July 6, 2011, 10:50 pm

I can recite the alphabet backwards (taught myself when I was 8)…other than that, no talents to be had here.

So jealous of your husband’s skills. I wasn’t blessed with coordination or dexterity 😛

  • Jessica July 6, 2011, 10:52 pm

you two are the most adorable couple ever… you have the greatest vibe… even in separate videos! Way to go, Husband, very impressive!

    • Brita July 7, 2011, 1:20 pm

That’s exactly what I thought! Super cute 🙂

      • Caitlin July 7, 2011, 9:53 pm

        Thanks girls 🙂

  • Jazmine July 6, 2011, 10:53 pm

    • CaitlinHTP July 7, 2011, 11:04 am

      Aw man! he would’ve died.

  • Katy July 6, 2011, 10:58 pm

I can say the alphabet backwards realllllly reallllly fast. but that’s it, as far as I know!

  • Krystina (Organically Me) July 6, 2011, 11:08 pm

    Hahaha, he’s adorable.

  • Katherine July 6, 2011, 11:15 pm

    No secret talent lol

  • Ciera @ Rose and Thistle July 6, 2011, 11:19 pm

Oh my god, he is bordering on the freakishly good at that!! That *is* really hard, I tried to do that when playing golf with my dad and failed miserably!
I have yet to discover my elusive mysterious talent 😉

  • Holly @ The Runny Egg July 6, 2011, 11:21 pm

That is hilarious!!! Good try 🙂

I have no clue what I would do — I can wiggle my ears but I don’t think anyone is interested in seeing that!

  • Sarah July 6, 2011, 11:37 pm

Cute:) I have no talent like that at all. No show for me!

  • Danielle (Shrinking and Studying) July 6, 2011, 11:40 pm

Hahaha, this post made me smile! That is actually an amazing talent!! He should be on Ellen’s hidden audience talents. 🙂 I love how you guys have so much fun together!

  • Reenie July 6, 2011, 11:46 pm

You guys are too cute ~ but dang, he’s good!! 🙂

  • Ellie @ The Mommyist July 6, 2011, 11:47 pm

Wow! I’m impressed! But I can’t help but wonder when he had enough free time to develop that skill?!?!

    • Caitlin July 7, 2011, 9:54 pm

He used to play golf like 12 hours a day as a young teen back in England! He is good 🙂

  • Stephanie July 6, 2011, 11:49 pm

That’s so funny! OK, he’s got my vote. haha!

  • Amanda (modernation) July 7, 2011, 12:23 am

OMG – Kristien! That is amazing! Major props. I also have no talent show skills. That is the only reason I haven’t entered a Miss America pageant – that damn talent portion. Hahaha!!!

  • Jen July 7, 2011, 12:27 am

Oh, my! That is seriously IMPRESSIVE – he should be on Letterman! (Not even kidding – this would be awesome for “Stupid Human Tricks.”). Love you for giving it a try! 🙂

  • Ellie July 7, 2011, 12:28 am

Haha that is such a cool talent! I am impressed! I have a couple very lame talents. I can cross my eyes then roll them in opposite directions (or roll just one at a time). I’m also good at walking with books or other objects balanced on my head.

  • Laura July 7, 2011, 12:29 am

So cute!!! Get the husband to do the accent vlog pleaseeeeee!!! I want to hear him talk! Haha, that’s not creepy, right?!

    • CaitlinHTP July 7, 2011, 11:04 am

I want him to do it so bad but he just wont! He’s too shy.

  • Katy July 7, 2011, 12:55 am

Does putting your legs behind your head count? Probably not for all the yoginis who subscribe to this blog! I’m totally asking my fiance this tomorrow just to find out what I don’t know about. That was awesome!

  • Lesley Lifting Life July 7, 2011, 1:16 am

As a golfer, I am thoroughly impressed. That is not easy at all!

  • Khushboo July 7, 2011, 2:00 am

Haha too cool! I think I am gonna go with the expected ‘oh I dunno’ *insert joke*

  • Lauren July 7, 2011, 5:52 am

Question – is there a reason you refer to him as “the Husband” and not “Kristien”? I’ve always wondered as it seems odd to not use his name, especially when you have previously on the blog. Does he refer to you as “the Wife”, not “Caitlin”?

    • CaitlinHTP July 7, 2011, 8:15 am

Honestly, I do it because his name (Kristien) kind of looks like a girl’s name, and I always thought it would be really confusing for new readers. Plus, at the beginning, he liked to be kind of anonymous. Well, he still does to a point, which is why you don’t see him on the blog a ton!

  • Lauren July 7, 2011, 6:47 am

    That’s awesome! 🙂

  • Laura @ My Reason to Tri July 7, 2011, 6:52 am

thats way cooler than my secret talent. i can recite “the humpty dance” by digital underground by heart. im so lame!

  • Molly @ RDexposed July 7, 2011, 7:14 am

Fancy leg work, too?! You snagged a good one!

  • mel July 7, 2011, 7:19 am

You and your hubby are just beyond cute!!! He’s got talent!!

  • Julia @ Brides Up North July 7, 2011, 7:54 am

    HELL yeah!

    He’s in the final.

  • Kelly July 7, 2011, 7:59 am

    Wow…that was impressive!!

  • Hayley @ Oat Couture July 7, 2011, 8:02 am

Haha I would so vote! 😀

  • Hillary July 7, 2011, 8:13 am

I can touch my tongue to my nose. It’s actually kind of hideous!

    • CaitlinHTP July 7, 2011, 11:06 am

Oh so can I! We could be twin tongue touchers.

      • Hillary July 7, 2011, 11:18 am

So glad I’m not alone in my freakishness!

        • Jenifer July 8, 2011, 10:32 am

Darn… I thought I was unique in this!! My dad taught me how to do it when I was about 5. My mom was mortified because I use to do it in church. : )

  • cj weaber @ http://cjh002.wordpress.com July 7, 2011, 8:23 am

OMG my husband can do that too! Did you ever see the old commercial with Tiger Woods when he did this and then did it behind his back, through his legs, etc. Its so hard!
Im with Hillary, touching my tongue to my nose is probably my only talent!

  • Jumanah @ Healthy Living in the Middle East July 7, 2011, 8:40 am

So cool! And hes really good!

  • The Teenage Taste July 7, 2011, 8:42 am

    LOVE THAT!

  • Ash @ Good Taste Healthy Me July 7, 2011, 8:45 am

Haha! Nice! I would so give the “uhhhh I don’t know” answer.

  • Chelsea @ One Healthy Munchkin July 7, 2011, 8:53 am

That looks like it would be so hard! I have no hand eye coordination to do things like that!

  • Andrea @ Onion in My Hair July 7, 2011, 9:15 am

    That’s so awesome!

I always thought that Tiger Woods commercial was FAKE…but apparently there are really cool and coordinated people out there that can do it!

PS – Your camera takes great video!

    • Caitlin July 7, 2011, 9:57 pm

      It’s the SD40 from Canon!

  • Kristin @ Wounded Fawn July 7, 2011, 9:39 am

I have no hidden talents now that I think about it. How could that be? I must work on this…

I dominated at flip cup on the 4th… does that count?

The Husbands talent is pretty good!

  • Sara @ OurDogBuffy July 7, 2011, 9:51 am

Nothing that I wonder consider to be so great that I deserve a million dollars and my own show. But then again, they put through a lot of people they shouldn’t have, in this girl’s opinion.

  • Carolina John July 7, 2011, 9:54 am

haha! That’s fantastic. It is really hard to bounce like that. too funny!

  • Ashley O. @ The Vegetable Life July 7, 2011, 9:59 am

Aww that is awesome! I love when random moments like this happen between the hubby and I!!!!

I am probably the least talented human being ever, but I own my awkwardness!

  • Evan Thomas July 7, 2011, 10:15 am

    I am so thoroughly impressed

  • Stephanie @ Food and Fitness 4 Real July 7, 2011, 10:18 am

So cute that you tried to imitate your husband… but failed.

I knew that my husband was in gymnastics as a kid, but I was still surprised to see him throw a perfect standing back-tuck when he had not practiced in over 10 years!! I impressed him by doing the same thing (I was a cheerleader for more than 8 years).

  • Jo @ Jo In the Kitchen July 7, 2011, 10:35 am

    Impressive!!

  • Lindsay July 7, 2011, 10:45 am

That is awesome! Very impressed 🙂

  • Michelle July 7, 2011, 11:15 am

I can write with both hands at the same time (script or print), but it has to be the same text. It won my team full points on a scavenger hunt type event on a cruise!

    • Caitlin July 7, 2011, 9:58 pm

That is a pretty cool talent, Michelle!!! Your brain must be ginormous! 🙂

  • Rika July 7, 2011, 11:32 am

Impressive and amusing! I can click my tongue really loudly like a snapple cap is popping open.. if that counts as a talent, haha!

  • Amber K July 7, 2011, 12:50 pm

lol, that is so cool! And so funny that you had no idea he could do that. Ok, I must ask my husband this today! My answer is totally “umm…I dunno!”

  • Brita July 7, 2011, 1:23 pm

I have a freakishly strong sense of smell… and can tell you what perfume or cologne you’re wearing (by name) in one sniff. I spent a lot of years trying to find a perfume that wasn’t too strong for my little nose, and while I failed, I at least got a cool party trick 🙂

  • Emily July 7, 2011, 4:53 pm

BAHAHAH! Loved watching you try…you’re hilarious!

  • Cristy July 7, 2011, 9:45 pm

    OMG that talent is awesome!

  • Julie (A Case of the Runs) July 8, 2011, 12:12 am

Wow, that is an awesome talent!

    I don’t know what mine would be… =(

  • Jolene (www.everydayfoodie.ca) July 8, 2011, 1:28 am

Ha – that is awesome!!! I can’t believe he kept those mad skills hidden from you all this time!!

  • Halley (Blunder Construction) July 8, 2011, 10:22 am

My talent is eating grapes. I love that he had a special talent on cue for just this very occasion!!

  • Jenifer July 8, 2011, 10:29 am

I can touch the tip of my nose with my tongue. Weirdness, I know.

  • Elle July 8, 2011, 5:30 pm

    Bahaha Awesomesauce!!
