Today was training for the spring semester of Girls on the Run!  The Husband and I spent the entire day at headquarters (GOTR was started in Charlotte).  I was actually trained last season, but since I’ve switched counties, I have to be re-trained under Charlotte policies.  I’m really excited to get started and be a head coach for the first time.  Doing it with the Husband is an added bonus!

I only got six hours of sleep after Nicole’s party… So this AM, I required a lot of coffee and a warm bowl of banana oatmeal:

IMG_8325

Training was well-organized and interesting.  Plus, they fed us twice!  🙂

IMG_8334

Anyone who’s coached for GOTR knows the best part are the Energy Awards.   A deserving girl gets an Energy Award at the end of each practice.

IMG_8328

This one is my favorite one.  🙂

Plus, I loved to watch the Husband practice the Energy Awards – hahaha!

We also reviewed all the official procedures.

IMG_8337

And I snacked on a bagel with hummus.

IMG_8329

For lunch, a sprouts, hummus, basil, and veggie wrap.

IMG_8331

And Baked Cheetos, which were the boooomb.

IMG_8333

Last, but not least, we got our coach’s box, which contains all the goodies for the season.  One of the BEST things about GOTR is that everything is so organized and easy to follow.

IMG_8341

Came home and snacked on a leftover vegan cupcake from Nicole’s birthday!

Guess what?  We are actually leaving for VACATION tomorrow!  I am very excited because… let me tell you… I NEED a vacation.  :)

This trip actually began as a business trip because GOTR asked me to speak about Operation Beautiful at their annual summit.  I said, “OF COURSE!” Then, the Husband and I talked about it and decided that he should come along, and we should extend the trip to make it a vacation for the both of us.  So, I have to work on Tuesday but otherwise, the Husband and I are going to try to relax and enjoy ourselves.

So…. we’re going to pack and cook some dinner.  And then I need to get to bed because we have (wait for it) a 6:30 AM flight out to Phoenix.  :(  Ugh!

It’s an AMAZING program Annette! It doesn’t look like there’s a lot of presence in Utah so far, but keep checking their site!

Caitlin, sounds like you had a great coach’s training! Go Bananas is our girls’ favorite spirit award as well. 😉

hi, i don’t comment often but i think you are simply awesome. i was an assistant coach this fall for GOTR and our girls all liked the banana energy award the best. only our girls insisted on one additional line, after “eat the banana”, “digest the banana, digest the banana,” while rubbing their bellies. too funny.
    peace

    • Caitlin January 15, 2011, 6:17 pm

Those energy awards remind of fun songs we sing at the summer camp I work at. They’re so fun to sing, even though they’re children’s songs, and the staff gets more excited than the kids about them sometimes.

  • Melissa @ Running with Needles January 15, 2011, 6:36 pm

I’ve been thinking this for a while, but I thought I should actually share it with you. I’m not sure why I am drawn to your blog, but yours has quickly become my favorite healthy living blog I read! Part of it is that you set a good example. You live healthy; are open and honest about your choices (the good and bad); and you stand for a great message for women and girls of all age about accepting yourself. We are also around the same age and are going through similar life experiences (marriage, jobs, growing up in general). You are someone I can relate to and feel like I am friends with, even though it is only virtually. I also think you and your husband seem to have a great relationship. I hope you go far with your message and Operation Beautiful; you deserve all the success in the world!

    • Caitlin January 15, 2011, 6:45 pm

Thank you so much! I appreciate it so much. 🙂 🙂

The banana video sooooo brings back jr high & high school memories from Snowflake/Snowball which were day/weekend positive thinking/living/safe&drugfree/selfesteem building workshops. I’m going to be singing the song in my head for awhile now. We just knew a slightly different routine.
