Mommy and Me

in All Posts

Howdy!  Mom and I spent the morning window shopping.  Well, mostly we window shopped.  ;)  I couldn’t help but snag these $1.95 placemats at West Elm.  You know you’re a food blogger when you buy placemats in singles.

Expect to see dinner with new backdrops soon.  🙂

Mom bought me this comfy throw, which the dogs have now claimed as their own.

They are so totally in lurve.

I took Mom to Providence Cafe for lunch.  We were both in the mood for a veggie-centric lunch, and I knew this would be the perfect dish for both of us to order!

IMG_6145

It always looks too small when the waiter puts it in front of me, but the combination of goat cheese, pecans, and balsamic vinegar and olive oil leaves me feeling SO satisfied.  Plus, I love arugula and asparagus.

IMG_6147

I also love bread.  Word!

IMG_6146

After lunch, I talked mom into attending a Vinyasa Basics class at Y2Yoga.  This is the perfect class for beginners because the instructor carefully explains every pose and you go really slowly.  We only did two flows and they were at the end of class.  Mom really loved it!

I wish she lived in Charlotte and we could do more classes together.  🙁

Hehe.

Throwback for you: Mommy and me, circa Christmas 1985.

Fueled up with a Green Monster (1 cup almond milk, 2 cups spinach, and 1/2 a banana):

The Husband has a special night planned.  Both of my parents are in town tonight which only really happens for major life events like weddings and graduation! So we’re all going out to dinner to celebrate some recent news.  I don’t know where we’re going, but it involves reservations so I’m excited. 🙂

Have a wonderful Saturday night!

  • Jen November 27, 2010, 5:06 pm

Huge congrats on the book deal! A fantastic idea – I had noticed a lot of your presentations really focusing on teens. And with the onslaught of bullying in the news today, it’s great timing.

How long is your mom visiting for? Where do you guys go for for your Christmas?

    • Caitlin November 27, 2010, 5:09 pm

She leaves tomorrow 🙁 Sad face. I think we’re going to Florida to see my in laws. It should be fun!

    Just wanted to say congrats!
I am such a fan of your blog, I read it religiously.

I went out to dinner with a bunch of my friends that are on thanksgiving break from college. I’m still a senior in high school so I always make a point to see them when they are home. I don’t remember how it came up but my friend Lauren mentioned how she was in the bathroom at Oneonta and she saw an operation beautiful note. My friend Nick said “They are on almost every mirror at Sienna. They proceeded to talk about how it made there day so much better. I got really excited and told them that I post them all over my high school and how I have been reading your blog and following Operation Beautiful for a long time.

I am so proud that you amazing vision is being spread. You are such an inspiration and when I was in a really dark place, you helped me to believe I am beautiful. I can not thank you enough for that.

Best of luck, can’t wait for the new books.
    Julia

  • ProjectLifeBy Sue November 28, 2010, 4:44 pm

OK I wish I loved these green monsters. Gotta find a way to love these green monsters! Anyone have any input?

BTW: cute kid you were Caitlin.

Oh, and I bought your book today for my step-daughter for Christmas – there was only one left in the whole bookstore!! Yeah Yeah!

    • Caitlin November 29, 2010, 12:46 pm

      Thank you so much Sue!!!

    • Caitlin November 29, 2010, 12:47 pm

Have you tried them? What do you like about them? You can add spinach to pretty much any smoothie and it won’t really alter the taste.

      • Project Life by Sue November 29, 2010, 1:18 pm

Ya, I have…..I don’t LOVE them, but wish I did. Maybe they are a required taste. Also a little hard to get past the “green”. Will keep working at it. LOVE that they are so good for us though, so all worth it. 🙂

  • Kat November 29, 2010, 9:50 am

That goat cheese lunch looks amazing! I don’t think goat cheese gets enough credit for how yummy it is. 🙂

  • Julia @ Brides Up North November 29, 2010, 11:28 am
