Personal Mission Statement

Good afternoon!  After my lovely meditation session this morning, I had a bowl of Oikos Greek yogurt, a crushed Kashi TLC bar, a banana, and raspberries:

Plus, 1 million cups of coffee.

Later, I found myself aimlessly wandering into the kitchen and grabbing a slice of cold bread for my mid-morning snack:

:)

Lunch was a cold rice and bean mix:

It contained rice, steamed spinach, pinto beans, and sprouts.   I wasn’t sure how all these flavors would mesh, but it was great!

Mixed into the rice was about 1 tablespoon of this dressing, which kept it from being too bland.

Personal Mission Statements

Lately, I’ve been tossing the idea of writing a personal mission statement.  You know I’m really big into writing down my goals, and I think it would be helpful for my "general life path" if I wrote down my mission statement.

I spent a few days working on it….  here it is!

Caitlin’s Mission Statement:  I strive to be the best friend, wife, daughter, worker, and runner that I can be.  Many times, this means putting others above myself, but I promise to never neglect my own needs and wants.  I want to live a life full of laughter and joy, and even when the going gets rough, I will find a silver lining.

There are aspects of my personality that I would like to improve, so I promise to learn  from my mistakes.   There are aspects of my personality that I think are unique and amazing, so I will cultivate these characteristics.  No matter what the situation or the trials that I face, I will give my best each day.

Most of all, I will remember that life is short, and I should never, ever sweat the small stuff.

What’s your personal mission statement?

I've been thinking about this since your "tweet" about it last week. I'll be working on my own personal mission statement this week. Love, love this idea. Thank you for always being an inspiration!

I love your mission statement! It's very well thought out. I'm the same as you with writing out goals. I don't have a mission statement, but there is a quote that I love that I try to follow each day.

"The secret of health for both mind and body is not to mourn for the past, worry about the future, or anticipate troubles, but to live in the present moment wisely and earnestly"
    -Buddha

PS I love your shirt (or dress) that you're wearing!!

My mission is to stick to my guns, always. Never be afraid to speak up in class. Never be afraid to take your own running route. Never be afraid to be unique. Set out with a journey, and stick with it to the end. That's what I hope to do in every aspect of life

    I like your statement!

Like you, I love to help other people. But I need to always remember to not let people walk all over me – it's such a fine line sometimes, I think.

The personal mission statement is an exercise done during career planning, since much like a company, action is planned based on its mission. I wrote mine a while back, it went something like,

"…to make my existence worth something by improving some aspect of the lives of the people I care about… and to always be able to find that connection to other human beings regardless of our differences"

    Hi Caitlin,

I love your blog! You have def inspired me to run more! I'm pretty new to running, I worry about being too slow. Any advice??

Also, I noticed you had Kayne on your playlist for last weekend's race…what are your thoughts on his recent activity at the VMA's?

Wild mama – try walk/run intervals. that's how im training my friend harry to run. we walk for 2 minutes and run for 1:30. and then we do it again. we're at about 1.8 miles. don't worry too much about being slow and speed totally comes with time. when i started, i couldnt even run 1/4 mile. stick with it and you'll get there!!

and kayne west is a DOUCHE. who does that?!!?
