Before leaving on our road trip, I had a bowl of Chobani Vanilla yogurt + Nutty Coconut Homemade Granola.

I was all out of granola and decided to make my own.  Granola can so EXPENSIVE even though it only contains a few basic ingredients that you probably have in your fridge and pantry right now!

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup rolled oatmeal
  • 1/4 cup mixed unsalted nuts (I used almonds and pecans), chopped
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened coconut
  • 1/2 cup real maple syrup.

Directions:

  • Pre-heat oven to 350.
  • Mix the dry ingredients together and then add the maple syrup.
  • Hand mix with a spoon until oatmeal is entirely coated with syrup.
  • Spread out loosely onto a non-stick cookie sheet and press flat.
  • Bake at 350 for 35 minutes, turning occasional and re-pressing.
  • Let cool and enjoy!
  • Store in airtight container.

That looks delicious! I love homemade stuff like that b/c it is so much cheaper and you know exactly what is in it and the nutrition stats. I bet that would be great on top of top of a berry or fruit cobbler, YUM!

I love homemade granola. It makes me feel so great to have CUPS of it on hand during the week, instead of buying a tiny bad for $6 on the weekend. Yay for being resourceful!

This is such a great idea! I think it’s a lot healthier than so many of the commercial granolas out there, and probably cheaper, too! Thanks for another great idea πŸ™‚

I made homemade granola this week too! It is very yummy. I got addicted to Bare Naked Apple Cinnamon but it is WAY too expense.

You are so right about the granola…I can’t believe how much some places charge for what is essentially a bag of oats with some nuts and things. I make a coconut version that uses flour, but I think I’m going to have to try your recipe-Lisa D.

That granola looks great! I always like to try to make my own stuff like that because it’s so much cheaper. I recently posted about homemade granola bars, and it’s fun to vary the ingredients each time too. I’m definitely going to try that recipe, is it crunchy and chunky like Bare Naked? looks yummy πŸ™‚
