Rise ‘n Swim

Good morning!

I am so quiet this morning because I am attempting an early(ish) swim workout with DadHTP.  I only have energy for one thing – i.e. not to drown in the pool because I fall back asleep mid-stroke.  Wish me well. Winking smile

On the stovetop:

1/2 cup oats

1/2 cup water

1/2 cup soymilk

1/2 banana

Toppings: sunflower seeds, cranberries, blueberries

Quote of the Day:

“Almost everything–all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure–these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important. Remembering that you are going to die is the best way I know to avoid the trap of thinking you have something to lose. You are already naked. There is no reason not to follow your heart.” – Steve Jobs

I love that you and DadHTP get to have workout time together! Thanks for that inspirational quote this morning – definitely needed! 🙂

Have fun swimming with your dad! I’m so jealous you have him as a workout buddy, that’s a great way to get to spend time with him!

Good luck on the swim! I hate to be a downer, but I’m not a big fan of finding inspiration in Steve Jobs (and I freely admit that i am typing this on a MacBook).

The guy was a marketing genius, but more and more articles show that he might not have been as ethical as he was creative. Apple has one of the highest profit margins of any company, yet it has side-stepped billions in taxes, exploits factory workers in China, and Jobs himself, certainly one of the wealthiest Americans, claimed no donations to charity on his taxes.

Admittedly, his quote was nice, but I just don’t find him to be the best role model.

Here are links to news articles about my points about:

    Avoiding taxes: http://www.nytimes.com/2012/04/29/business/apples-tax-strategy-aims-at-low-tax-states-and-nations.html?_r=1&gwh=8FF980A99D97922909BD4378F1BEB208

    Exploiting workers:

I am such a quote lover and I adore this one! I never realized all of the insightful things Steve Jobs used to say, but I’ve seen lots of them since he passed. What an incredible man…an incredible example of following your dreams :).

I think it’s hilarious that there is a Call of Duty Black Ops ad on your page. Food Buzz, seriously? I think they are missing their target market 🙂

    Have a good swim!
