Do you know what happens when you hand fifteen elementary school girls eight stickers each?  120 hearts and happy faces end up all over the Husband.

I think one ended up inside his ear.

Today’s Girls on the Run’s lesson revolved around positive visualization.  We discussed how you can choose to be positive instead of negative, and then the girls ran laps.  Every lap, they’d exchange a sticker for a lap counter – and Coach Kristien ended up covered.  Most of the girls ran TWO MILES today.

Not only was Kristien a winner at GOTR, but he also made lunch:

In the mix:

Steamed greens

Leftover white rice from Chinese food

Pinto beans

Tomatoes (raw + sundried)

Organicville Teriyaki dressing

After GOTR, we rushed to the clinic so the Husband could see patients, and when we arrived, we discovered the entire family was already there (my mother, sister, and father-in-law all work at the clinic, too).  My MIL had reception under control, so I talked Sophie into getting frozen yogurt.

Obviously, dessert at 5 PM totally ruined my appetite BUT WAS SO DELICIOUS that I don’t care.

I relieved my MIL from secretary duty and took over until we left at 8:30 PM.  Late night so we kept dinner simple.

Just hummus mixed with goat cheese (try it – so good!) and a lovely, light salad.

Can we talk about the fact that ALL the great Fall TV shows are back?  So excited.  Gluing my butt to the couch starting… now.

    caitlin,

this is a random Q, but your fro yo trip made me think of it. what does kristien think about cold foods from a chinese medicine perspective? my acupuncturist is ALWAYS on me about cutting out cold drinks, smoothies, ice cream, etc as they decrease circulation (and are especially “detrimental” if you are trying to conceive). it seems a liiitttle extreme to me, but just thought i would see if he had a different perspective.

    • CaitlinHTP September 22, 2011, 9:48 pm

Yup – it’s true. He hates cold foods and definitely recommends that many patients who are cold food-intolerant avoid dairy, smoothies, etc.

      • Amber K September 23, 2011, 12:52 pm

Wow, I had never even heard of this before. Most of what I eat is cold. Overnight oatmeal, smoothies, banana soft-serve, salads!

  • TheHungeredOne@MovingandMunching September 22, 2011, 9:46 pm

  • katie @ KatieDid September 22, 2011, 9:50 pm

You just reminded me that I missed Grey’s. I think. Oops. We only get about 5 channels anyways, so I want to get into that so I have at least a single show to look forward to occasionally! GOTR looked really fun, and 2 miles is so impressive for them wow!

  • Lisa Fine September 22, 2011, 9:55 pm

I love that the two of you volunteer together! So cute.

What kind of frozen yogurt did you get? I just found out about a self serve froyo place near us that I need to try out! Must satisfy those cravings.

    • CaitlinHTP September 22, 2011, 9:56 pm

  • Clare - Never Niche September 22, 2011, 9:56 pm

  • Sara @ RunnerWife September 22, 2011, 10:01 pm

That yogurt looks delicious!! We only have one yogurt place in Erie, PA but hopefully they will get a new one soon! Wish it was closer!

  • Katy (The Singing Runner) September 22, 2011, 10:03 pm

Haha! I love that picture of the husband! 😉

Menchie’s is amazing! I went to one when I was in Charlotte in June! We need one here in Jacksonville!

  • Katie September 22, 2011, 10:07 pm

That’s too funny. I was the one that got covered in stickers at our lesson today!

  • Jen September 22, 2011, 10:18 pm

There are TOO many shows on. It’s getting overwhelming. I can’t decide what to watch when and should just quit it and read 😉 Do they add blueberries at Menchies?

  • Ashley @ My Food 'N' FitnessDiaries September 22, 2011, 10:20 pm

We just got a Menchie’s near our house! I have never tried it but have heard all good things. Can’t wait to try it out!

  • Holly @ The Runny Egg September 22, 2011, 10:23 pm

  • Katie September 22, 2011, 10:53 pm

Aw, Kristien seems like such a good sport 🙂 And the hummus/goat cheese combo sounds awesome!

  • Sarah September 22, 2011, 11:00 pm

So cute of the Husband to be sticker bombed! I seriously need to try my hand at making my own hummus, there have been so yummy sounding recipes floating around the blog-o-sphere lately!

  • Chelsea September 22, 2011, 11:16 pm

My butt is glued to the bed watching fall TV shows. I’m talking about Dexter, The Walking Dead, Revenge (new show so good!), and the The Secret Circle (just started watching). Love the fall shows whooop 🙂

  • Verna September 23, 2011, 8:01 am

I have a feeling the Husband enjoys all the girl attention. ; ) He’s going to be such a good daddy!

  • Allie @ The Constant Pursuit September 23, 2011, 9:59 am

So funny that you got your girls to cooperate with that lesson – last night when I coached they were SO SAD about having to give up the stickers, that we reversed the rules and put stickers on the girls each time they completed a lap. 🙂

  • Hillary September 23, 2011, 10:01 am

This is kind of the cutest thing ever. Husband is a champ.

  • jane September 23, 2011, 10:31 am

  • Jill in Chicago September 23, 2011, 11:25 am

I can’t imagine working with family (especially in-laws.) Good for you guys (and his fam) for making it work 🙂

  • Sonia (the Mexigarian) September 23, 2011, 12:39 pm

we watch waaaay too much TV and DVR a lot of it. We have shows we like to watch together: The Office, Community, Modern Family, Walking Dead, Dexter (tho those two we wait til season is over so we can bust thru them) and a few others, and then we each have our own shows. Me: top model, proj runway, ghost adventures (i can’t help it) biggest loser. his are some comedies not in my taste. our DVR will eventually blow up.

  • Amber K September 23, 2011, 12:53 pm

This is one of the best Fall TV seasons in a long time! So many new shows to try out, so many oldies, but goodies that came back. I guess I’ll say hey to people again in the Spring 😉

  • Alexis September 24, 2011, 12:32 am

Yay, my girls in Tucson ran two miles today (including obstacle courses and stopping for water) – their race is in 7 weeks! 🙂 We are the pink cheetahs and are going to put pink hair paint in our hair during the race!
