Two-A-Days Make Me SLEEPY!

in All Posts

I could barely sleep last night because I’m so excited for the Healthy Living Summit.  The simple solution to ensure I get a good nights sleep in tonight:  Two-a-days!  Exercise always exhausts me in a deep, deep slumber!

First up: running!   Before my run, I had some dates and almonds.

I did a 6.0-mile run around the beautiful downtown Orlando.

Three cheers for flat land! :)  I do NOT miss the hills in Tennessee at all!

Here are my statistics:

  • Duration:  59 minutes 57 seconds
  • Distance: 6.0 miles

I came home and was greeted by my wonderful hubby, who had brought me FLOWERS!

Love him! 🙂

We both ate a bowl of granola (this is about 2 servings):

And then we took off on a bike ride!

We only got to do 6 miles before it started to thunder and rain, so we hightailed it back home ASAP!

  • Duration:  30 minutes
  • Distance: 6 miles

We came home and I tackled my very long to-do list.  The Husband made dinner:

He made whole wheat pasta with kidney beans and pinto beans, pasta sauce, and a mix of roasted veggies.  I couldn’t finish all the veggies, though!  It was good.

Next up: an army of gingerbread men!

I ate a little iced man for dessert:

Nom nom nom!  These guys will be going up for auction at the Healthy Living Summit, with proceeds to benefit Team in Training and the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society!

Here’s my To Do list:

  • Confirm decorations for Summit
  • Sort through e-mails
  • Unpack
  • Re-pack
  • Bake cookies
  • Ice cookies
  • Grocery shopping
  • Stop by the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society for Bake Sale supplies
  • Stop by Dress for Success to meet with volunteer coordinator
  • Finish book proposal
  • Run
  • Bike
  • Write Operation Beautiful posts for the next four days!

Ahhh!

I've heard about dress for success before! MY supervisor at work actually participated in it during high school. Awesome 🙂

It's so close – have a great time!!

I have a question regarding your knee – I know you learned how to properly tape/brace it, ice it, and PT exercises/stretches to do. But is that all you do for your knee, and it pretty much cured your pain? Because it seems like you're running longer and farther (two 6-mile runs this week!), which is AWESOME!! I'm just curious as to if your knee has bothered you at all since running more, or if those simple things helped a ton. I'm still in the process of curing/figuring out my knee problem, and am not sure where to go from here.

    Thanks Caitlin!

it's true that two-a-days are making me tired, but then i have to be careful not to run too late at night, because then i can't sleep!

  • wholebodylove August 12, 2009, 10:50 pm

How sweet of him to surprise you with flowers!! I still think gingerbread men are the best kind…when you're feeling frustrated, you can bite their heads off

I love your blog, and am happy to come across another foodie with similar interests. I have a food blog, but recently launched another site dedicated to hiking, running, strength training etc… (it is in its infancy at this point, but more content to come). Anyways, check it out if you'd like. I will be back to puruse yours!!!

    hey it stay –

    hey there!

re: your question on my blog + what i read on your blog, i think you need to find another doctor. the first doctor i went to was TERRIBLE (http://www.healthytippingpoint.com/2008/10/bones-and-cartilage.html) and the second doctor actually understood me and my knees (http://www.healthytippingpoint.com/2009/06/patellomoral-pain-syndrome-not-as-bad.html). i found the second doctor by calling a runner's club and asking the marathon coach for a recommendation (i had to ask three people before i found someone who could recommendation a doctor).

my knee pain is almost entirely gone! i havent worked up to super long distances yet and i do fear i'll have some trouble, but the combo of PT + icing + foot supports + knee braces = a happy runner.

    seriously try a new doctor!!

Have a great time! As I've started to get to know other bloggers, I'm been thinking the same thing recently about how awesome it will be to one day meet some of them. What a great opportunity!
