Sunrise 10K

in All Posts

I am SO glad I had Megan to motivate me to get my booty out of bed this morning!  We went on a lovely 10K run and watched the sun rise.

Megan‘s neighborhood run is so much prettier than mine that I don’t mind driving to her place in the morning.  Our route goes through nice neighborhoods and about half of it is next to a lake.

Before I left, I had a slice of toast with almond butter:

Megan‘s friend Debbie joined us for the first 4.0  miles.  It’s so nice to have someone to talk to during long runs — and honestly, I don’t think I would’ve gone for my run this morning if it hadn’t been for running buddies!  We took a few walking breaks, but managed to finish with a decent time:

  • Duration:  1 hour 3 minutes
  • Distance: 10K (6.2 miles)

I raced home (I’m sooo late) and quickly threw together a special Friday breakfast:

Very egg-y Flax French Toast:

Plus fruit and real maple syrup:

Thanks for all your advice on my marathon training plan!  I’ve answered some of your concerns/comments/questions in the comments section of the previous post.  I really appreciate your feedback!

And whenever I get nervous about tackling such an awesome challenge, I’ll just think of my friend Megan (who I’m running the race in honor of) and I’ll look at my Road ID:

Have a wonderful Friday!

I can't think of a better way to start the day! Running and working out with friends first thing in the morning is one of my favorite things. Have a great Friday!

Caitlin, I love that even when you are "running late" you manage to put together the yummiest looking breakfasts! Combined with the run, it sounds like a lovely start to a Friday morning.

The Penguin was the one of the speakers at our TNT dinner before the race. He was so awesome and inspiring! He made me feel so much better about not being able to run as fast as I wanted to because of my injury. Love it!

P.S.-I just looked at your training plan as well, I ran only 17 miles on the road at my longest run because of my tendonitis and I finished just fine. I was in pain, but that was because of the injury. I really would do only one, maybe two 20 milers and not do 22. It's so hard on your body and it opens you up for overtraining injuries.

what a great way to start your day 🙂

Do you have any suggestions on where to find training schedules for a 1/2 that only have 3-4 days of running per week? or how you would do it only running 3-4 times per week?

I'm thinking of doing a 1/2 this November and know I need to start training, so I'm looking up stuff today but wanted to get your feedback since you've done it before!

brandi – i like hal's plans. http://www.halhigdon.com/halfmarathon/novice.htm i think you could get away with eliminating one of the runs. you def can do a half with 3 runs/week. hell, people argue you can do a marathon with 3/week..

I didn't get to read your post last night but I almost cried when I saw the Martha Dixon Run T shirt!

I am from Mt. Lebanon and have volunteered at it or run in it for the past 12 years! It is something I'm very passionate about and I'm so glad you were able to run it. I ran it that year too and got first in out age group! Just made me so happy to see you participated in something so near and dear to my heart!

I'm obsessed with running with the sunrise! Except, it's rising later and later now, so sometimes it's still dark when I get out :\
