I am STILL the world’s worst fisherwoman!  Now, it’s the 6th time fishing, and I still haven’t caught my large mouth bass.

Before our BFF Harry and I went fishing, I had to finish up work…  here are my mid-afternoon snacks:

Chobani and cereal:

Cantaloupe:

We went back to the same spot as last time, which is super gorgeous.

This lovely deck is located behind Harry’s parents’ friends’ mansion (they let us fish in the afternoons… isn’t that nice!):

We fished for a few hours, so I brought my dinner and ate it right here:

I brought a grilled chicken, cheese, spinach, and mustard wrap.

Plus, lemon raisins.

CIMG3725

I actually DID catch a fish, but it was a mud fish.  I reeled it in and was so disappointed to see that it was not a bass.  We tossed it back.

Harry actually caught a *bass*, though! It was so exciting.

CIMG3728

Give it a kiss!

CIMG3729

We stayed until the sun set… I love Florida sunsets.  So beautiful!

CIMG3731

On the way out, I heard the HOOT HOOT of a big owl, so I talked to it for a little while….  I am such a Southern girl.

Here I am hooting:

HOOT HOOT!

After coming home, I did the 30 Day Shred (Level 2).  It’s so nice to have a great DVD workout like the Shred!  I love being able to squeeze in a quickie sweat session.

And after shredding, I had a small bowl of whole wheat flakes and skim. Oh and some dates (not pictured).

And…. time for The Office!  :)  Have a great night!

What do you think — after 6 fishing trips with no success, should I give up or keep casting that rod?  It’s fun regardless of whether I catch something, but I’m sure I would have MORE fun if I caught a fishie!

  • Brandi April 9, 2009, 6:50 pm

    beautiful place!

eh…I never catch anything either 🙂 it’s still fun, though! I usually take a book, just in case I really don’t get any bites for a while.

  • Matt April 9, 2009, 6:52 pm

I suck at fishing too! I’d rather just buy fish to eat!

  • Oh She Glows April 9, 2009, 6:57 pm

Wow what an amazing day! I miss FL! To think I used to live in that gorgeous sunshine year round.

  • Erin April 9, 2009, 7:00 pm

Like my dad has always told me, “A bad day of fishing is better than a good day of work. “

    🙂

  • just me April 9, 2009, 7:01 pm

no wayyyy should you give up! fishing is all about patience!

and how can you hoot at an owl w/o telling me WHAT KIND it is?!?!

  • jenny April 9, 2009, 7:02 pm

ooh i have never been fishing, but i tried eeling once!

  • Betsy April 9, 2009, 7:09 pm

Keep fishing! I’m like you… I always only manage to snag small mouths (if anything), but persistence pays off! Plus, someone has to be there to take pictures of the big ones, even if you didn’t catch them. 🙂

  • sweetandfit April 9, 2009, 7:09 pm

oh no! don’t give up! I’m so envious of all you Floridians with your beautiful weather.

  • thecleanveggie April 9, 2009, 7:14 pm

    gorgeous house!

  • Meg April 9, 2009, 7:19 pm

    Keep casting the rod!

It is so beautiful there! Enjoy!

  • Rachel April 9, 2009, 7:26 pm

That looks like a bass he caught, not a trout 🙂
    I’m just sayin, cause I’m a fisherman’s wife.
Does Harry use a fly rod or a spinning rod, and what do you use? These are all very important questions 😉
    Dinner looked swell!

  • Lisa D. April 9, 2009, 7:38 pm

KEEP fishing! If you stop now then you know you will never catch one, plus that spot looks pretty sweet!

  • Mica April 9, 2009, 7:51 pm

Glad you had a fun time, even if you didn’t catch anything. The scenery is beautiful, and I giggled at the owl picture.

  • Kimberly April 9, 2009, 8:07 pm

Just think that every time you don’t catch anything, there will be that many more fishies in the lake to catch next time! Ergo, you must keep trying 🙂

  • Brandy April 9, 2009, 9:13 pm

    Don’t give up!

  • Runeatrepeat April 9, 2009, 9:13 pm

Keep fishing! It looks like you enjoy hanging out with your friend and fishin’ the afternoon away 🙂

  • Anonymous April 9, 2009, 9:40 pm

anon again.. parks and rec was NOT good.

  • Heather April 9, 2009, 10:17 pm

    Lemon raisins? Tell me more!

What kind of chobnai do you usually eat?

If you caught a fish, what would you do with it? Just wondering if you would just throw it back or eat it.

What kind of wraps do you use again?! Yours always look so soft and doughy!

Sorry the fishing didn’t turn out so well, but I’m sure you will catch one next time!

What a beautiful place! Thank you for sharing that sunset.
Good food, good company and a good location – a very health promoting day! I say who cares whether you catch something if the rest is all that good 🙂

  • Alison April 10, 2009, 4:40 am

I haven’t fished in years, but I never caught anything more than the tiny Sunnies. My family lives in a neighborhood with a fake lake, but it’s so polluted that we always threw the fish back. Was the fish in your lake clean enough to eat? I’ve never eaten freshly caught fish – I bet they’re wonderful.

anon- i was going to watch parks and recreation but i read a variety article that said it sucked…. so i skipped it 🙁 too bad.

heather – i eat vanilla chobani and the raisins are from europe (i won them on a blog raffle). when we catch fishies, we throw it back. i could never kill and eat it.

jess – they are flat out wraps. so good and only 100 cals or so!

alison – you prob could eat these fish if you wanted to, but we release them all!

  • Adi (oatonomy.com) April 10, 2009, 4:50 am

My roommates are fish researchers, and so is my ex-boyfriend, so I am all too familiar with the joys… and the boring moments…. of fishing (and everything else fish related… ahhh!). I’ve never come to like fishing for the activity, but I like being outside when the water is quiet, enjoying a nice day. Can’t beat that.

  • K from ksgoodeats April 10, 2009, 5:07 am

What a gorgeous setting! I’d say don’t give up just because that place is too pretty to not go to!

  • Rose April 10, 2009, 6:12 am

What a gorgeous evening. Looks like you both had a fun time!

Don’t give it up! You’ll catch something eventually.

  • Red Head, Yellow Dog April 10, 2009, 6:53 am
