Itinerary for the Bach

in All Posts

Good afternoon!

I had another wedding-related freak out around 9:30.  This was a major oversight on my behalf, but I completely overlooked ceremony decor.  Our site provides chairs and an arbor, but the arbor isn’t exactly great on its own…. and we are a little overbudget already, so the last thing I want to do is go to Future Husband and ask for *more money* (he manages the budget because I’m seriously not responsible enough to do so).

I’m just NOT good with decorating or envisioning stuff, so it’s already a challenge.  I could feel my chest getting all tight just thinking that I need to sort out yet another issue. So, I took a quick break from work to talk to my mom, and I think we’ve sorted things out.  Also, I took a deep breath and reminded myself that I wasn’t really freaking out about decor — I’m freaking out because I’m overloaded and there’s a lot going on.

OK – sorry for the mini-vent.  I’m just one of those people who get overloaded easily.

My first thought was, "I’m going to skip my evening run, I’m too overloaded."  But, the more I thought about it, I realized I NEED to go on this run to let out some steam.  So, my 3.0 miler is back on.

My mid-morning snack was just a bowl of grapes, which I couldn’t finish!

And lunch was a yummy salad….

An a vegetarian entree — rice and beans!

I always put cheddar cheese on my rice and beans…. it makes it taste so much better, and it adds a little healthy fat!

And for dessert…. a Z-bar.

Itinerary for the Bachelorette

The lovely and talented Lee asked if I would share my bachelorette itinerary.  Here it is!

  • Friday morning:  Fly to Philadelphia; meet up with girlfriends.
  • Friday @ 3:00:  Hop on a bus and go to NYC.
  • Friday evening: Check into hotel, start drinking, put on silly bachelorette gear, go to a dive bar, mock all my ex boyfriends, talk about how awesome Future Husband is, and drink some more.
  • Saturday morning: Recover from my wicked hangover.  Walk around the city.  See the Rockefeller tree.  Have a cocktail with my lunch.  Shop.  Get really cold and wish it was warm like Florida.
  • Saturday evening:  Drink some more.  Go to a fancy dinner.  Go to a fancy club.  Get loads of free drinks.  Refuse to dance with creepy random men just because they bought me a drink.  Drink some more!
  • Sunday:  Recover from my wicked hangover.  Get on a bus and go back to Philadelphia.  Get on a plane and fly back to Orlando.

I’m forewarning all my readers now — this is not going to be a healthy weekend.  But, obviously, I am a human, not a robot, and I need to cut loose and have fun!  🙂

See you tonight for a run recap and dinner!

**Because a couple of people have asked:  Future Husband is doing his bach on December 26.  A group of his friends are renting an RV and they are driving to Key West to do a long weekend of camping and bar hopping. 🙂

    Ahh, don't get overwhelmed!!

    Beans & rice!! Classic yum.

Faaaabulous itinerary!! Oh man, I cannot WAIT to read all about your adventures!! 🙂

  • Tina December 4, 2008, 10:25 am

No worries! We didn’t have any decorations for our ceremony and it was beautiful (from what I remember)!

  • Erica December 4, 2008, 10:26 am

Hey girl! We bought some really inexpensive material from the fabric store and drapped it and it looked gorgeous. I will try to find a pic to send you. Other cheap decor- you can usually rent flowing plants from a flower store (that way you don’t have to buy a ton of flowers and you’re not stuck with them. Give a few places a call.

  • girlrunningaround December 4, 2008, 10:29 am

Don’t be overwhelmed! It’ll all come together! It really will. I overlooked something big for our wedding too–the ceremony musician. Luckily I was in a friend’s wedding about a month before ours and realized we had not hired anyone to do our music. With a little internet research (thank goodness for the internet) I was able to find, meet and hire a musician in just two days.

And ceremony decor can be so simple. Seriously, all we had were flows on the ends of every other row on the aisles and two pillars with floral arrangements on top at front of the pavilion. We got married outside, so we let the natural decor take over from there.

I get overwhelmed easily too. Just think about how you’re going to have a crazy fun weekend!

  • girlrunningaround December 4, 2008, 10:30 am

    oops, flowers not flows. 🙂

  • therunningaddict December 4, 2008, 10:34 am

You should have had your bachelorette party here in Prague! It is the ULTIMATE city in Europe (if not the world?) to get drunk and go clubbing!

  • RhodeyGirl/Sabrina December 4, 2008, 10:34 am

yayyyyy!!! bachelorette weekend is so close!!

i don’t think you even need to worry about decorations for the ceremony! no one really notices as the focus is so much on YOU, you know?

  • RhodeyGirl/Sabrina December 4, 2008, 10:35 am

and that will make the reception decor pop even more too!

  • Katerina December 4, 2008, 10:40 am

Have a great weekend Caitlin, you deserve it. Much like your thankksgivibng advice I think the key is all about no guilt. Its your bacholrette party. If you don’t drink enough and eat pizza at 4am you are going to regret it! Live it up.

As for the wedding decor, I think there are lots of creative ways to do things on the cheap, and not doing anything I am sure will look fine too. I am not sure if you have alot of evergreen trees in your area, but since it is a winter wedding what about using some tree boughs everywhere.. pretty and basically free if you can just grab some from the trees around. I am sure other natural branches more native to Florida would be great too, but I have no idea what those would be! Winter and Fall weddings are my favorite!

  • jenngirl December 4, 2008, 10:48 am

wonderful rationalization this morning, I know that I ALWAYS need to step back from situations to see what is “really” causing my emotions, and you’re right, there’s just a lot going on, no MAJOR crisis has happened that cannot be averted!

    Ahh funn bachelorette plans!

  • bitesoflife December 4, 2008, 10:58 am

Sounds like you have a fun trip planned! Enjoy it! 🙂

  • Mica December 4, 2008, 11:02 am

What an exciting weekend. I’m sure you’ll have great stories to tell when you get back.

I’m also really impressed at how well you handled your mini-freakout. So logical. I probably would have just started to cry and break things.

  • Halie December 4, 2008, 11:02 am

Good to let of some steam. Don’t let yourself get overwhelmed though! Since your wedding is going to be outdoors, you needn’t worry too much about decorations. My wedding was out of doors at a winery, and they had an arbor that we used. I don’t even think we decorated it! I had two huge beautiful bouquets of flowers (that my mom ordered to perfection) on either side of the arbor and that was it! We didn’t put anything on the chairs either! Afterward people couldn’t stop gushing about the “simple elegance” to it. The last thing I wanted to do was drown a beautiful outdoor setting with tulle!

Yummy eats by the way! I’m now wishing I had beans and rice for lunch today! I think I’ll have to have it for dinner! Thanks for the inspiration!

  • Elsa December 4, 2008, 11:05 am

Just think Caitlin.. in less than a month you will have all this time on your hands and you won’t know what to do with yourself!
As much as wedding planning is stressful I would do it over in a heartbeat (keeping my husband of course!)=-)

  • seeleelive (for the love of peanut butter) December 4, 2008, 11:06 am

  • Emily December 4, 2008, 12:05 pm

haha your itinerary is awesome! I especially love the part about refusing to dance with creepy guys just because they bought you a drink. I totally feel ya on that one!

  • Beth December 4, 2008, 4:34 pm

Hi Caitlin! I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now and wanted to say that I tried my first Chocolate Chip ZBar today and absolutely loved it. I saw them on sale on Target ($2.99/box) and thought maybe I’ll try them since Caitlin raves about them. I totally understand your addiction to these bars. I’m curious have you tried the PB and the chocolate brownie bars, are they any good? New York sounds like its going to be a blast, I loved all your descriptions especially “go to a dive bar, mock all my ex boyfriends, talk about how awesome Future Husband is, and drink some more”. Have a good evening! 🙂

  • HangryPants December 4, 2008, 4:39 pm

An unhealthy weekend is part of a healthy life!

I am sorry about the wedding freak out. Seems like you handled it ok. No one will notice that detail, but I know it wasn’t about that as you explained. Hope the run helps.

  • Katie December 4, 2008, 5:24 pm

Rice and beans are soooo much better with cheese! Too bad I can’t have them because the only beans I have have been sitting in the fridge for a month (and I don’t want to touch them so they’ll probably sit there for a month more)!

Your itinerary sounds amaaaazing… especially the part about the free drinks and no obligations to dance with creepers!

  • Sam December 4, 2008, 5:56 pm

Sounds awesome I hope you have a BLAST! I wouldn’t worry too much about decorations the focus is supposed to be on you!

  • Caitlin (see bride run) December 4, 2008, 6:25 pm

beth – OHMIGOD arent they amazing!!! i love the chocolate chip! i have tried the PB and the chocolate, and they are pretty good, but choco chip is the best 🙂 glad you tried them and like them! be careful…. they are like cookie crack! LOL
