Foodies at Whole Foods

Girl date!

DSCN0065

Lindsey from Life According to Mrs. LC and I had a "blind date" at Whole Foods tonight.  I’m so glad we finally met in real life — she’s so fun!

We browsed the world’s most awesome hot and cold bar for 10 minutes before piling the goodies in our boxes.

Obviously, I can’t remember all of what I got — let’s see…

  • Raw broc and cherry tomatoes
  • 1/2 BBQ chicken breast
  • Mashed sweet potato with cranberries
  • A bunch of different cold tofus
  • A sweet potato cold salad
  • A fried plantain (OH MY. SO GOOD!)
  • Tomato + brie cheese salad

And a lovely Organic Yerba Mate with Lime by Honest Tea:

Yerba Mate is the new ‘thing’ to drink instead of coffee. (So I hear!)  It’s packed with nutrients and antioxidants and comes from a tree native to the forests of South America.

Lindsey also got a fun tea:

After dinner, we browsed Whole Foods and I worked reallllly hard not to spend our life savings.  The WALL OF BARS was the most difficult to navigate:

I only spent $11 on groceries…. it’s a miracle! 🙂

Other Snacks of the Day

I was snacky all day long, so I ended up eating loads of little things while wrapping up some items at work.  🙂

An apple….

A spoonful of PB….

Plain NF yogurt….

And a TLC bar to hold me over before dinner (Yes, three bars in one day — well, one was a sample size. But still – not good! I need more variety than just a bunch of bars!)

Food for Thought – Part II

I’m really impressed with the discussion that occurred on my lunch time post.  We all have different views on the benefits and drawbacks to food and fitness blogs, and we all have different reasons for reading/writing.  It was interesting to read the 50-something (and growing!) comments.

I think it’s wonderful that we managed to have a civil discussion without fighting.  Six months ago, this wouldn’t have been possible — there was a lot of negative lurking on our little community of blogs.  These toxic people have either changed their tunes (yay) or gotten a life (even better).  A few of you had constructive criticism of my blog and that’s OKAY! In fact, I think it’s great that you guys are willing to say what you think and that we can exchange thoughts in a polite and calm way.

Basically, you guys rock.  And I love being part of this online community.

xoxox.  Sleep tight!

    Hi Caitlin!
Glad you had fun with Lindsey! It must've been so fun eating & shopping at Whole Foods. I love that place, but I spend some serious money when I go so I try not to go too often! That's amazing that you only spent $11- great job!

    Have a wonderful evening 🙂

    Yummy Whole Foods grub!

I was also impressed how open and cordial the discussion has been. Thank you, Caitlin, for bringing up a very important topic. It got me to rethink why I read food blogs and I’m glad the thought was stimulated!

Whole food’s is what Amy and I would call a “foodie Blog-gasm”!! Drool!

On a more serious note, I love the blogging community–seriously, it makes me so happy. Waking up each morning, going to be at night. Love it! Finally, I’ve found people I can connect with and share my interests with. Yipppeee!
