Freak Out

in All Posts

Poor planning got the best of me today.  You know when you haven’t eaten enough, and your blood sugar starts crashing? UGH!  That’s what happened to me in between my workout and lunch.

Before we left for the bank and gym, I had a slice of WW bread + PB.

Then we the bank to open our FIRST JOINT ACCOUNT! I kind of felt like I was getting married when we signed all the papers.  We had this special hand-squeeze and stare into each other’s eyes moment.  We’ve been together for 5 years, but we’ve always kept our money separate, so it’s a pretty big deal for both of us!

The bank took longer than expected…. when we finally arrived at  the gym, I did 30 minutes on the elliptical and 15 minutes of strength training.  I did bicep curls, tricep dips, assisted pull-downs, dual pulley rows, etc.  It felt good to lift weights, I’ve been putting it off for days…. I very much prefer cardio.

Here are my statistics:

  • Duration: 45 minutes
  • Average Heart Rate: 126 bpm
  • Maximum Heart Rate: 149 bpm
  • Calories Burned: 235

THEN, we decided to go directly from the gym to the medical uniform supply store to get Future Husband a new lab coat.  Afterwards, we stopped at the grocery store.

By the time we got home, I WAS FREAKING OUT I was so hungry.  I should’ve packed a bar or something to hold me over.  I rarely go 4 hours without eating, and I usually eat within 30 minutes of finishing my workout.

I raced into the kitchen and made lunch at 2 PM.

I managed to hold off on eating my arm while I broiled a ham and cheese sammie on sourdough bread.

I also had cantaloupe and a plum.

And 1/2 cup of Kashi Go Lean Crunch! with plain NF yogurt.

I feel much, much better now that I ate! WHEW!

Now…. time to SHOWER and head back out to run MORE errands.  I think I’ll play it safe and take some food with me! :)  Have a nice afternoon!

    Hi Caitlin,
I know what you mean about poor planning. I hate when I run out of the house without any healthy snacks because I’m not hungry at the moment. It always seems that sooner or later I get hungry and wind up making some not so nutritional choices! Your lunch looks so good-at least you were able to grab something nutritious once you got home. You did real good!

I just wanted to share the news with you that I ran 10 miles this afternoon! I got a late start and wasn’t sure that I was going to be able to do it, but I did! I didn’t have any pain and it got easier as I ran. Do you find that happens to you, too?!? It’s weird because I would think that my energy stores would deplete after each mile, but for some reason I feel stronger. I am SOOOOOO happy! I have never run double digits before. I took your advice though and didn’t over do it this week. Yesterday was a rest day and so is tomorrow. I also made sure that I did not exceed my usual mileage of 25-30 miles max per week. Thanks for all your advice and help- you are so nice and helpful all the time. We should definitely catch up when I’m in the Orlando area!! Have a GREAT day, Caitlin!!! 🙂

Just stumbled upon your blog (looking at blogs of folks who like “In Defense of Food). Wish I hadn’t–as your photos of all the food makes me incredibly hungry! Now I have to go to the fridge and find something to eat…

    Wonderful photos!

    Cheers!

That’s so sweet. 🙂 I remember feeling so excited about fusing out finances too. We went and got a cookie afterwards to celebrate.
Hope the rest of your day was beautiful!

ha – you were getting … hangry! Sorry, I just like to point that out sometimes. 🙂

Anyway, that’s really cute. I love reading about you and your fiance. You’re both so sweet.

Also, regarding the Z-bars, that was v. nice of Amanda and v. nice of you.
