Beers and Pizza > Exercise

in All Posts

Good evening! Tonight was a good time! I met up with Lisette (my BFF from high school), her husband Danny, her cousin, and her cousin’s boyfriend for dinner at BJ’s Brewhouse.  Future Husband had to work, so he didn’t get to come. 🙁

I knew I’d be guzzling loads of beers and pizza, so I made sure to squeeze in a quickie workout before dinner.

I did thirty minutes on the elliptical while reading The Secret Lives of Bees (a very good book!… I hear it’s becoming a movie now, too).  But the elliptical was tremendously boring, so I decided to pound out the fastest mile I could on the treadmill.  I did 1 mile in 7:45.   It rocked!

Here are my statistics:

  • Duration:  38 minutes
  • Average Heart Rate: 135 bpm
  • Maximum Heart Rate: 198 bpm
  • Calories Burned: 275 bpm

I came home from the gym and quickly showered, and then I met up with Lisette, Danny, and company.

We started dinner with a 7 beer sampler.  DELISH!

Each sample was 5 oz…. obviously, I didn’t drink it ALL! But I did try everything….

From left to right….

  • Brewhouse Blonde
  • Harvest Hefeweizen
  • Piranha Pale Ale
  • BJ’s Jeremiah Red
  • Nutty Brewnette
  • BJ’s PM Porter
  • Pumpkin Ale

The Pumpkin Ale was the best.  It was so flavorful and spicy! Delish!

We also got a appetizer sampler… I had a few chips and artichoke dip… and I sneaked an egg roll. 🙂

For my entree, I had two slices of artichoke and spinach pizza… totally worth the calories!! 🙂

Other Eats of the Afternoon

I’ve noticed that lately I’ve switched from two afternoon snacks to three smaller afternoon snacks.  I don’t know if I’m eating a smaller lunch unconsciously or if I’m just lacking in a perfect combo of protein + fat, but I seem to be craving more snackies.  That’s alright with me! 🙂

Around 1:30, I had dried apricots + salty pumpkin seeds.

Around 3:30, I had two Ryvita Pumpkin Seeds and Oats with Laughing Cow cheese and a few slices of sweet ham. This was a VERY satisfying snack!

And RIGHT before my workout, I had some cantaloupe and a slice of WW bread with PB.

Alright… time to sleep!  I AM SO GLAD IT’S THE WEEKEND!

And… Future Husband brought me home a new JOINT SUPPLEMENT to try!! I’ll share it with you tomorrow! 🙂

Sleep tight!

    Hi Caitlin,
Within your blog can you write of about how you went about losing weight? I know that now you are maintaining that weight loss, but I’d love to know what you would suggest with each meal as a way to lose the weight.

meghann – it was BJs, which is near the Mall of Millenia. We should go! It was delish!

Anon – hi there! well, i CAN tell you generally how i lost the weight. i calorie counted and kept a food journal, which isn’t necessary for some, but was for me. i tended to snack mindlessly and eat large portions, so food journaling helped me get that under control. i shot for 1600 – 1700 a day and had one ‘splurge’ meal a week. i exercised 3 – 4 times a week, doing about 30 minutes worth of cardio and 15 minutes of strength training. i actually didnt exercise as much or as hard as i do now, and i think that was (ironically) key in losing weight, because it allowed me to control my food intake…. the more you work out, the more you need to eat! 🙂 i focused on eating small meals and snacks over the day (like i do now) and was mindful not to eat dessert or drink everyday (like i had been doing before). GOOD LUCK!
