Good Food

So much good food.

In lieu of maple syrup, I’ve been using brown rice syrup, and it’s so much better!  You get that moist, yummy texture, but without the sting-my-teeth sweetness.

Chips while working… And a few pieces of chocolate.

And for lunch:  leftover squash and a brown rice, egg, arugula, onion, tomato, and soy chorizo stir-fry.  This was REALLY delicious.

I wish there were leftovers!

And now – a little Henry video.  I filmed this yesterday in the car (we were parked outside a store).  He had just woken up from a nap and experienced every baby emotion in 45-second time frame.  He is smiley, babbling, laughing, confused, scared (don’t know of what!), upset, hungry, and finally satisfied.  All in under a minute.

And I thought I was temperamental.  Winking smile

Brown rice syrup sounds like something I might like – where do they sell it? Trader Joe’s?

No they don’t have it at TJs but they do at WF.

Oh my gosh, I swear Henry is one of the cutest and most expressive little babies ever! I love his laugh and his sad face, so sweet!

I’m not sure if you’re familiar with this issue, but I’ve cut out brown rice and brown rice syrup specifically (I don’t even buy products made w/brown rice syrup anymore) because of the scary-high levels of arsenic:
http://abcnews.go.com/Health/Diet/arsenic-organics-rice/story?id=15642428
It’s scary because they say brown rice (rather than white rice), and domestic brown rice and rice products are the worst offenders. You may want to try maple syrup again!

That is adorable. What a cutie!! And your food looks delicious as always! Interesting about the brown rice syrup. Is there a health difference between that any maple? Taste difference?

Aww so cute!! If I’m woken up from a nap, I think I probably have a similar frown/crying expression on my face too!

Hey, I’m from maple syrup country, and it’s never too sweet :) What kind were you using?

I love that video!

Wouldn’t get too into the brown rice syrup, it’s a source of arsenic – rice absorbs arsenic from soil (in very small amounts) but the concentration in brown rice syrup is much higher because of the way it’s made.

Okay, I’m totally not even a baby person (hell, I don’t even really like kids) but that video was freakin precious! Especially his sobby lip just before he cried, and then that total “ahh, now I’m good” face when he got his bottle. Too cute!
