I noticed that too! And the shot with the hands/wedding rings. Not that you have to be married to have a baby, by any means, but that’s a “traditional” shot that I thought was another hint before the beans were outright spilled. Love that you kinda kept people guessing whether you were joking or not until the very end! Sooo excited for your journey!!!

BTW–don’t take that book too seriously, otherwise you’ll be calling your doc every day. One GREAT book for prenatal nutrition is “Feed the Belly,” which includes great recipes.

aww that is such a cute way to announce! is it weird i’ve had a feeling you’ve been pregnant for a while now bc you haven’t been boozing it up at all!! i’m like, whyyyyy isn’t caitlin drinking? even on halloween?! she’s pregnant! haha.. not like you are a big ol drunk or anything, but usually you’re enjoying a nice glass of wine or a good craft beer. that’s my biggest worry… how did you hide your “non drinking”? I’m afraid I’ll just become unsocial until I announce…. suggestions? CONGRATS! i hope the baby talks in a british accent! haha
I did lots of club soda + lime in drinking glasses at the bar – it looked like vodka sodas. Also I would just hold the Husband’s beer. That helped too. Or just get cranberry + club soda.
I do miss the booze. A lot.
yes, i’ve heard all those tricks… but i’m such a wine drinker people would be thrown off if i didn’t order wine, then i’d get all giddy and spill the beans… cannot. keep. a. secret. But, it’s such an exciting secret… how do you stay quiet for so long?! I read a funny article that says bartenders are usually one of the first people that know about a woman’s pregnancy cause they’re constantly confiding in them… CONGRATS again.. we want the deets!!!
Say you’re on antibotics. I did that, too.
We actually told most of our family and close friends within the first 7 weeks. It was easy to keep it a public secret because I had bleeding in week 5 and it freaked us out big time. But everything is okay! And we heard the heartbeat on friday.
I have always wondered…what if you don’t know you are pregnant and drink at a party or something? That’s always been a fear of mine. So happy for you, Caitlin
Honestly – I would never booze it up knowing I’m pregnant, but it’s really going to just be fine if you accidentally drink before you know. The human body is designed to protect the baby. If a few drinks ruined the baby, the human race would be screwed. LOL
Did that…until we had dinner at a wine bar with my FIL and his friend (both doctors). I knew the “I’m on medication” excuse wouldn’t fly because they would start asking (innocent) questions, so I just said I had to get up and run the next morning
I totally didn’t.

I hope you get preggers soon! We were actively trying but it, thankfully, did not take long. I used an ovulation predictor calculator from WebMD and that seemed to do the trick – I’m sure you’re doing that, though!

So happy for you – and how cool that at least 684 other people are too! It must have been so difficult keeping it quiet and continuing to post as normal.
Have to say though, in my experience cinnamon buns are (1) quieter (2) cheaper and (3) don’t tend to keep you up through the night.
Also love the little hints in the photos, the hands touching and particularly the first shot – egg and phallic beater waiting to combine, with a saucy glint in the Hubby’s eye!!

Okay, so I might be a little bit crazy…but as I near the end of my second (and final) pregnancy and you begin the first of yours I am been thinking about you. I only have once piece of advice: try not to have too many expectations. I often find that those who expect pregnancy and childbirth to go a certain way end up having the opposite happen. Read the DailyGarnish blog about her pregnancy. I love that she embraced whatever came her way even though she had to let go of a little control. (I am the same way). Enjoy the ride. You will only have your first pregnancy once. Congrats!

Congrats!!! I just found out a few weeks ago I’m due around May 31st (I was actually almost 8 weeks before I figured it out… I can be a little slow on the uptake apparently!)
My first ultrasound isn’t until next Tuesday though, I can’t wait!

Seriously why do all pregnant bloggers act like their child will be the first & last baby ever born? Is nothing sacred anymore? What happened to the days when personal & special moments were only shared with family and close friends and not broadcasted over the internet? Between sonogram pictures on facebook, private moments between 2 people being shared on blogs & the oversharing of information in general…something as special as a pregnancy is being reduced to a level on par with Kim Kardashian’s wedding. While I liked the pictures of you telling your husband…that is an extremely special moment that you just diluted by putting it out there for everyone to see. I just can’t.
Jenna Marie – While I respect what you are trying to say, and even agree with it on some levels, it’s MY personal decision to tell or not to tell. Nothing is diluted to me or my Husband by sharing. And there are plenty of personal things that I have not shared and will not share.
Thanks for responding so kindly. I realize reading back that my comment sounded a lot meaner than I intended it to. You are right that it’s your pregnancy and you can do what you want. I just feel that with social networking and blogs, pregnancy talk has become one of life’s greatest over shares when in fact it’s a really special time for 2 people and their families. I feel like adding a bunch of strangers into the mix somehow takes away from that but that’s my own opinion and when I have a child I will be free to do things my own way!

I am SO beyond the moon excited for you and your husband!!! I can not even tell you how awesome it is to be a parent, you will see, and its truly a miracle! A blessing, it is probably going to be the BEST moment of your lives when that baby is born, its just amazing!

what a creative and fun way to do your baby announcement
A friend of mind recently sent me a picture with a bottle of a spaghettice sauce called “Prego”. I thought that was clever but I got it right away. I love your announcement too and it’s creativity.
