So, my IT department guy called me today and said I needed to take a "professional" picture of myself for our company website.  They’re going to Photoshop me into the group picture.  I immediately groaned because (1) this meant I had to go brush my hair and put on make up and (2) do you have any idea how hard it is to take a good self-portrait?

Attempt #1 (whoops, professional people probably have heads)

CIMG2726

Attempt #2 (oops, no self timer)

CIMG2722

Attempt #3 (ehhh… dogs, their toys, and crates are not professional)

 CIMG2729

Attempt #4 (HOORAY!)

CIMG2731

In other news….

Mid-morning snack was WW toast and pumpkin butter.

CIMG2711

Lunch included a Flat Out wrap with an egg, cheddar cheese, and spinach.

CIMG2713

Plus strawberries.

CIMG2712

And a side of carrots + PB ("lunch" actually stretched over over 3 hours).

CIMG2717

Mid-afternoon snack was homemade granola and Chobani yogurt. Divine!

What do you wear to work?  A suit?  Business casual?  A uniform?

Hilarious pictures! I love that they are going to just photoshop you in. Lucky girl getting to work at home! I have to wear a suit every.single.day. Yay for always having to be in court!

  • Beadie @ What I Ate Yesterday March 9, 2009, 12:29 pm

Ha! Your attempts at self portrait are too funny. Glad you got a good one!

I work for an upscale golf course so my dress code is a cross between business casual and golf casual.

  • Leah March 9, 2009, 12:29 pm

Working in a school I always try to look a bit ‘professional’ as they say i’ve got to set a good example for the kiddies!

Cute photos tho, lucky girl to work at home I say!!!

Nice lunch.. your wraps ALWAYS trump mine lol πŸ˜›

  • FoodsThatFit March 9, 2009, 12:30 pm

Ahh, the benefit to nursing is wearing scrubs to work! They feel like pajamas!

  • Erin March 9, 2009, 12:32 pm

I love the photo attempts, haha. It would have taken me muuuuuuch longer as I have no idea how to even attempt to do that!

  • thechiclife March 9, 2009, 12:34 pm

If I’m at a client site, I have to wear whatever standard of clothing they wear. Last project, I wore business casual – dress pants, nice sweaters, sometimes suits. Since I’m currently at my company’s main office and not on an official project, I can dress down all I want. Today, I’m wearing jeans, tennis shoes, a “nice” t-shirt, and my northface…so comfy! πŸ™‚

  • Amanda March 9, 2009, 12:35 pm

I work at an accounting firm so it is pretty professional. Luckily no need to wear a suit (good thing, because I still don’t own one) but it is pretty conservative – button downs, work pants/skit, heels. Even though it’s a pain every morning, I don’t think I’d be productive if I was TOO comfortable!

  • Mica March 9, 2009, 12:39 pm

Ho ho, this cracks me up! I love that they’re going to photoshop you into the picture. I hope they get the scaling right or it will look rather amusing!

(I also hope they leave Maggie and James in the photo!)

I usually wear pretty casual clothes to work (=school) because–hey–I can! Though I am trying to look nice by wearing make up and drying my hair because I don’t want to be an oogly grad student.

  • Amanda @ Fake Ginger March 9, 2009, 12:39 pm

That sweater is a great color. I love purplish colors right now.

I work from home too so I’m usually in jeans, a t-shirt, and flipflops. Some days I just stay in PJs. πŸ™‚

  • Colleen March 9, 2009, 12:40 pm

Your picture turned out so pretty!

I have to dress like you are in your picture every. single. day. BLAH.

My hubby never gets to see me dressed nice because the second I get home I’m in my comfies with a ponytail and no makeup!

  • Kaye March 9, 2009, 12:40 pm

Haha, I think it’s hilarious that they are going to photoshop you in!
It’s like an episode of The Office, where Michael couldn’t get everyone to cooperate during the photo!
They should have put the puppies in too! Technically they work with you…near you atleast!

  • Dori March 9, 2009, 12:40 pm

Very good, professional picture! I love the ones with the pups in it though – they are adorable! My job is business casual, and I would love to find business casual pants that feel like sweats if such a thing exists.

  • Hi! I'm Erin March 9, 2009, 12:43 pm

I’m fairly new to your blog (found you through Holly on the Run). I love that you take pictures of EVERYTHING! Also, you have such good meal ideas. And, once you give yourself both a head and a body, you look very professional πŸ™‚

I only wear a suit when I’m leading a training session or presenting to anyone higher up the university food chain than myself. Otherwise I wear dress pants and a nice shirt/sweater. Sometimes a skirt or, in the summer, capris. I actually like dressing up.

  • Amanda (Two Boos Who Eat) March 9, 2009, 12:46 pm

Awesome shots! Ha! I actually have to wear a uniform to work since I work for a bank. It has saved me so much money!

  • Carlee March 9, 2009, 12:46 pm

Nice photo shoot! I am a teacher and usually wear dress pants and a top. At my old school we could wear jeans on Fridays which I miss terribly, but less people have mistaken me for a student this year…

  • talesofexpansion March 9, 2009, 12:47 pm

they’re going to photoshop you into a group picture??? how awkward!

i dress casual for work … i spend my days traipsing around the city so i can crawl on the floor with babies. i tried to look professional when i started, but that lasted all of one day. nothing but jeans will do!

  • Kailey (SnackFace) March 9, 2009, 12:48 pm

haha the pics are great! You look fab, by the way. When I grow up I’m sure I’ll wear some sort of fashionable business attire to the magazine’s office (oh yeah, it’s happening), but for now I will wear casual attire such as jeans and tees.

  • Run Saraah March 9, 2009, 12:53 pm

I have to dress professionally, but I hate wearing button up tops, they never seem to fit right. I might prefer sweaters – similar to what you are wearing there!

  • VeggieGirl March 9, 2009, 12:57 pm

    Haha, love this πŸ˜€

    Pumpkin butter?? Yes, please!!

  • Julie March 9, 2009, 1:03 pm

    Yum! Pumpkin butter πŸ™‚
I pretty much can wear whatever I want because I work in an office by myself which you would think could be fun but sometimes I’d rather wear a suit everyday and work with a lot of people haha. Fun picture πŸ™‚

  • Missy March 9, 2009, 1:09 pm

Such great pictures! My attire is business casual. I can wear jeans, stretch pants, boots, just no sneakers!

  • Marlène March 9, 2009, 1:17 pm

I have to dress business casual at work. It’s good, because for the last two years I worked at a 2 person organization, and could wear pyjamas to the office when I wanted to.

Today I don’t look very professional though, since I fell on the ice on my walk to work and tore a hole in each knee of my stockings.

    I’m like a seven-year-old.

  • Carolina John March 9, 2009, 1:17 pm

haha, it is tough to take a good self portrait. Good job!

  • Nicole March 9, 2009, 1:30 pm

It is so tough to take a good self-portrait! I hate it! Yours looks fabulous.

  • Haleigh March 9, 2009, 1:48 pm

Your pictures are just too funny! But your outfit is adorable! My dress code is definitely business casual. I like dressing up for work though, it makes it a little more fun to wake up early in the morning.

  • Sarah (lovINmytummy) March 9, 2009, 1:52 pm

HA! Thanks for showing us all your attempts.

They took a head shot of me at the dentist this morning for my chart, so I can relate to your pain. I didn’t even get a second chance, though, so I will forever be known by HOW EVER that picture turned out.

I wear yoga pants and a tank top to “work.” But you already knew that πŸ˜‰

  • aron March 9, 2009, 1:54 pm

business casual… so not jeans and a sweater usually πŸ™‚

  • Christine March 9, 2009, 1:56 pm

I wear scrubs to work!!!! yay! I love it..bc they are so comfy. Good job w the pics ! πŸ™‚

  • jane March 9, 2009, 2:07 pm

i wear running clothes and shoes to work! you look gorgeous in your picture by the way, but i still vote for the one with the dogs in it πŸ˜‰

  • angelcubbie March 9, 2009, 2:08 pm

I love the color of your shirt. I sadly have to dress professional every day as I work in a law office (Think heels, pencil skirt, slacks, etc.) Can’t wait until I get my Personal Trainer Certification someday and can live in my gym clothes!

  • Kelly March 9, 2009, 2:09 pm

    Love the pictures! πŸ™‚

That Flat Out Bread looks really good. I’ll have to try to find that in my store.

  • peanutbutterandjuli March 9, 2009, 2:24 pm

As a first grade teacher I wore crocs and comfy clothes!

Where did you get your blue spoon? I think it’s awesome!

And you had me laughing with your photo attempts:) Thanks for posting.

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point March 9, 2009, 2:26 pm

julie – from crate and barrel. only a buck!

  • Erin of Care to Eat March 9, 2009, 2:38 pm

Hahaha those are cute! I think the second picture would have worked – I’m just sayin’. It would have added an ethereal touch to the site. Shows diversity inclusion.
I dress professionally four days a week because I teach or see clients on those days. But not Mondays! I am totally rockin’ a purple maxi-dress!

  • Amy March 9, 2009, 3:20 pm

    You are too cute!

My office is business casual. Some more business then casual though. I try to dress ‘trendy business’ keeping it young and fun! πŸ™‚

  • ksgoodeats March 9, 2009, 3:21 pm

Look at you all professional! CUTE! I can’t give out my full work attire but it does include yoga pants πŸ™‚ I get to be all comfy! However, when I was teaching I was basically a walking Banana Republic/Gap ad!

  • emily March 9, 2009, 3:32 pm

my school is supposed to be business casual, but working in the nyc public school system is soul-sucking so most teachers wear hoodies and jeans! (I’m a goodie goodie so I stay business casual!)

  • Megan March 9, 2009, 3:48 pm

    o0o, very classy and professional.

as a professional student (hehehehe), sweat pants tend to make regular appearances in my wardrobe… πŸ™‚

  • talieworld March 9, 2009, 3:51 pm

    Love the pictures, so funny!

  • carolinebee March 9, 2009, 4:07 pm

i just made granol too! So good and cheeapp..haha i love your pictures- i always use the self-timer and i look like such a tool when i press the button and RUN across the room then try to look natural πŸ˜€ You look totally cute!!

  • Mrs Sassy March 9, 2009, 4:14 pm

Great final picture! I dress fairly casual at work… no heels for me!

  • Amanda March 9, 2009, 4:25 pm

I work at a vet clinic, so I either wear scrubs or jeans and a scrub top… with tennis shoes. Can’t get much more comfortable than that! πŸ™‚

  • teacherwoman March 9, 2009, 5:08 pm

What do I wear to work? I usually wear dress pants and a nice top. That anything and everything from khakis and a long sleeved cotton shirt, to dress pants and a sweater. But, then again we have those occasional jean days or sweat suit days… hey, I work in an elementary school!

  • Julie March 9, 2009, 5:16 pm

Business casual, and dress down Fridays! Yay.

Um, you have the worlds smallest waist.

  • D10 March 9, 2009, 5:20 pm

    Great picture. Cute shoes too!

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point March 9, 2009, 5:28 pm

i liked to learn about your jobs!! this was fun πŸ™‚

  • Lauren March 9, 2009, 5:39 pm

Too funny, but love the pics!

I work for a finanical company as a human resource trainer and developer so on days that I am teaching, its a little more dressy but all other days its business casual.

I can’t tell you the last time I wore a skirt to work (probably the summer?)

Ugh, the thought of sitting all day with my legs crossed in a skirt makes me uncomfortable just thinking about it.

Good luck while you train! I’m right there with ya!

  • seeleelive (for the love of peanut butter) March 9, 2009, 5:55 pm

since i babysit, i wear what i please: shorts, tee shirt and a cardigan! and my tory burch gladiator sandals…yum!!

  • inmytummy March 9, 2009, 6:02 pm

Hehe, it’s funny that they just didn’t have you come into the office for a picture. Unless your office is far away.

I basically dress the way you did in your picture. Business casual. Although we are casual on Fridays and I wear jeans and sneakers.

  • Lisa D. March 9, 2009, 6:11 pm

haha I love that you posted all the trials and errors of this photo. I’m a dietetic intern and we are required to wear lab coats, over business casual clothing. It sucks all the fun out of getting dressed because whatever you put on gets covered up but sometimes it’s for the best!-Lisa D.

  • Meg March 9, 2009, 6:41 pm

Great fun with the pics! I wear business casual. I am on the floor working with kids a lot so I have to be casual.

  • just me March 9, 2009, 8:16 pm

i wear ratty t-shirts and waterproof pants!!! and flip flops, ALL THE TIME. hah!

  • elise March 10, 2009, 9:10 am

PJs or scrubs…thats all i wear. your pic turned out V. professional though, so consider ita success!

  • Trish March 10, 2009, 10:43 am
