Southern Charm

Good morning! I am running on about 4 hours of sleep and therefore did NOT wake up early to Shred or run.  We have appointments with a realtor to discuss locations for the holistic clinic, so perhaps I’ll be able to squeeze in my workout in the evening.

We are actually staying on the University of South Carolina Columbia campus at a lovely boutique hotel called the Inn at USC.

CIMG3009

The Inn is actually a historic landmark!  I love the South… everything is so old (for America!).

CIMG3005

The front of the Inn looks like a typical Southern home, but the back actually extends for hundreds of rooms.

CIMG3006

You know you’re in the South when…. there are rocking chairs on the porch.

CIMG3012

When we checked in last night, I seriously wanted to curl up the lobby and pass out…. the big cushiony couches looked SO inviting!

CIMG3013

Breakfast was excellent… the Inn has a great hot bar with tons of Southern classics like grits and biscuits and gravy.

CIMG3000

Eggs, a sausage, a small bicuit, and a bunch of yummy fruit.  Plus a coffee:

Gotta jet! We’re late!  See you later. :)

I’ve been a “lurker” for months and haven’t ever posted (I’m a little shy I guess :) ), but I had to write to tell you Welcome to South Carolina and especially Columbia, where I live! It’s cool to know you’re in town. Hope you enjoy your stay!

Welcome to my neck of the woods! I love the south, and I especially love hearing people who don’t live here talk about how great it is! (Although technically FL is the south I suppose, but it’s definitely a whole different beast than the Carolinas.)

    Enjoy your stay!

you think places are old in the south? you should come up to Massachusetts, where there are plenty of houses built in the 1620′s! and in my hometown, people still live in them – pretty cool.

    enjoy sc!

So cute! You know for being a drivable distance away I don’t get to the Carolinas as much as i should. What a cute place to visit for a mini vacay. I will keep this in mind when I am planning a get away

I guess I’ve been “lurking” for a month now, but I had to come out of the showers to tell you that I walk past the Inn everyday! I work at USC and live just around the corner, so the Inn is one my route to the office. I hope you enjoy your stay!

It would be great to have another healthy living store in Columbia…we’re a bit in need!

I totally agree about the south feeling like it has more history, when I visit my Grandmother in Alabama I always stay at this huge Manor house that used to be a plantation house and it feels like it’s so steeped in history, but it also feels like it’s haunted! lol

Boo USC. I go to Clemson. We’re enemies. :-D

Y’all should look into Charleston/Mt Pleasant, too. There’s a lot of health conscious people down here.
