Signature Cocktails

in All Posts

Evening!  Thank GOD it’s Friday…. only 5 days of work before I’m freeeeeeeeeee on a glorious month- long vacation!

My mid-afternoon snacks consisted of….

Yogurt and Grape Nuts…

and… another Z-bar (two in one day)!

DSCN9961

And some cereal (honey bunches of oats)…

I filled out insurance forms and marked "Single" for the last time ever, probably!

I *intended* to go on a run after work, but I just wasn’t feeling it (knees hurt!).  So I worked on the seating chart and wrapped bridesmaid gifts instead.

We had a LATE dinner (around 10:30), so I had a piece of French bread around 6 PM to hold me over.

Then, we headed to the Ale House for dinner and drinks with friends.  We wanted to try out some cocktails for the wedding.  We plan to have two signature cocktails available to our guests.

Drink # 1:  Blue Berry Tea

DSCN9973

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 shot Grand Marnier
  • 1/2 shot Amaretto
  • Fill glass with unsweetened iced tea

Verdict:  It was alright — not great.  I drank 1/2.

Drink #2:  Key Lime Pie  (no picture, sorry!)

Ingredients:

  • 1 and 1/4 shot Licor 43
  • Splash Sour Mix
  • Splash Rose’s Lime Juice
  • Splash Cream

Verdict:  YUMMY! This is going to DEFINITELY be one of our drinks!  I had a few sips of Future Husband’s.

Drink #3:  International Incident

DSCN9974

Ingredients (equal parts of the following):

  • Vodka
  • Kahlua
  • Amaretto
  • Frangelico
  • Bailey’s

Verdict:  I liked the taste, but it was really strong and you couldn’t drink too many without getting sick!  I only had a few sips of Future Husband’s.

Drink #4: Lucayan Smile

DSCN9975

Ingredients (shake and strain):

  • 1 shot dark rum
  • 1/2 shot triple sec
  • 1/2 shot Creme de Banana
  • Orange Juice
  • Grenadine

Verdict:  This was GOOD! But it had a funny aftertaste that I wasn’t crazy about.  I split the drink with my friend, Michelle.

Drink #5:  Future Husband’s Coconut Breeze (no picture, sorry!)

Ingredients:

  • 2 shots Malibu Coconut Rum
  • Splash Cranberry
  • Top of with Sprite
  • Serve over ice

Verdict:  This is going the be our 2nd signature cocktail.  We looked for a new drink we liked more than this one, but this has been one of our favorite drinks for more than three years!  So we’re sticking with what we love.  🙂

After all the liquor, I needed a large dinner.  I was CRAZY hungry.

DSCN9976

I got a turkey burger with onion rings.  I ate…the…entire… plate!

It was a little funny because when I ordered the onion rings instead of a side salad, one of our guy friends AND one of my girlfriends immediately balked, just because it was SO out of the ordinary for me!  But I was craving onion rings.  And they were SO worth it. 🙂

Off to bed! We have an appointment with the florist in the AM.  Sleep tight. 🙂

I don’t usually like sweet drinks, but that Coconut Breeze sounds delicious.

I don’t even remember the last time I had onion rings. I hate that! I’m glad you did. You deserve it, lady!

Didn’t you say your wedding was a Florida theme? Makes your choice of signature cocktails even more appropriate, particularly the Key Lime Pie drink. Nothing says FL like key limes. 🙂 (Well, that and oranges). 🙂 Good luck at your florist’s appointment!

Having signature drinks is such a cool idea! Did you just decide to do it or does your venue offer that as an option?
