Morning, lovelies! I’ve got to make this snappy, as I have to be at the kennel at 7 AM for a killer 10 hour shift.  When I woke up this morning, my legs, back, and arms truly felt like I had spent HOURS in the gym yesterday.  There is NO WAY I am officially "working out" at the gym today or tomorrow — this job totally counts as a workout.

Last night, we tasted the wedding cake samples my aunt baked…  We tried mini cakes — they were so moist and delicious!! So much better than store cake!

We’ve selected two layers: chocolate with raspberry pudding and coconut with orange creme pudding!!!

We’re having a square three tier cake, but the third tier is going to be faux (cardboard with icing!).  I never knew this before our wedding, but a lot of cakes have a faux bottom (otherwise there would be too much cake).  I’m leaving the design up to my aunts – all I know is its going to be white. :)  Here’s my Wedding Details: Cake Topper post!

Breakfast was simple and quick.  Of course, I incorporated Thanksgiving leftovers!

DSCN0026

I made regular banana oatmeal (with 3/4 cup oatmeal) and topped it with cranberry-orange relish and Grape Nuts.

It was DIVINE!  I wish Thanksgiving was every day! 🙂

I’m taking the same snacks to work as I did yesterday…. a Kashi TLC bar and a half a PB sammie. :)  These snackies worked pretty well yesterday!

Have a good day. See you around dinner.

Yum I can’t wait to eat that Cake in person!!

My hardest job mentally was being a Cashier at Winn Dixie. Blah, never again will I put up with that crap.

Only 1 more week until my half!!! 🙂

bagging groceries at a very touristy grocery store. the customers were very demanding and standing up all that time was hard (and it was nearly 15 years ago!)

  • VeggieGirl November 29, 2008, 6:02 am

    Gorgeous cake & oatmeal!!!!

**I will NEVER work in women's retail ever again – too much bitchiness!!

  • Justine November 29, 2008, 6:58 am

Enjoy your day with the puppies! It definitely sounds like a physically demanding job…but at least it’s fun, too!

My hardest job, physically, was an ice cream place in high school. It was always really busy and I’d run around like a crazy person scooping ice cream. And some of that ice cream is HARD! I think I got some good arm muscles in my right arm during that time 🙂

Good luck with the 10 hour shift!! Good choice with chocolate and raspberry, mmmmm!

My hardest job was stocking shelves at a liquor store. I had to carry boxes around and lift heavy things all the day.

Leftovers are in everyone’s blog right now!!!! ^_^ It’s fun to see how people enjoy leftovers and how to be creative in having it.

Hardest mental work ever: do research by my own (current situation!)!

Have a nice day of work!

  • Oh She Glows November 29, 2008, 8:26 am

My hardest job was working at a produce store when I was 15-17 years old. I was lifting 50 pound bags of produce all day long! It was tough. I only got paid min. wage too- which at that time was $5.50 per hour! Good lord! lol

  • BOBBI McCORMICK November 29, 2008, 8:54 am

yummy cake!!! Yes homemade is much better. Hardest job was Youthworks, it was like a camp so we rose early and went to bed late 24/7! I barely had time to breath, but I LOVED IT! I have a contest on my site today that you might be interested in check it out!!!

  • just me November 29, 2008, 8:54 am

ohhh…sounds delish! great choices for the cakes!

hardest job: chocolate store, making caramel at a copper pot for 3.5 hrs or making fudge with a huge freak’n spade…worked up a sweat and had bulging biceps. LOL.

My hardest job mentally was at a clothing store for rich old ladies – Sigrid Olsen. I HATED it with a passion. The women were so snobby and you had to wait on them hand and foot. The most physically hard job was at a bakery in 9th grade. It was awful, my first day I spent 8 hours cutting strawberries and one time I dumped a whole bowl of melted chocolate all over myself. It was humiliating.
Your job seems physically demanding, but at least you love dogs!!

  • imadedinner November 29, 2008, 8:59 am

Those cakes look amazing… and sound delicious!

  • runningwithfood.com November 29, 2008, 9:20 am

Good luck today! Both cakes sound amazing!!

  • girlrunningaround November 29, 2008, 9:54 am

The cakes look (and sound) delicious! And it’s so cool that your family is helping you out. It will make the event even more special.

  • K November 29, 2008, 10:11 am

Your job is DEFINITELY a work out! Good luck on your 10 hour workday!

Glad to hear the cake was good – it looks delicious!

My hardest job (mentally) was working in an underfunded, urban elementary school. It was SO hard to see some of these kids and hear their stories.

  • carolinebee November 29, 2008, 10:14 am

My hardest job mentally was being a server for the rich, alumni tailgates during college! It is AWFUL serving people who think they are better just b/c they have some dollas!

  • eatingbender November 29, 2008, 10:23 am

YUM!! That cake looks great :o)

My hardest physical job ever was working in the nutrition department at a grocery store. But it was also the BEST mental job ever, because it introduced me to the concept of “healthy eating.”

  • Sammie November 29, 2008, 11:27 am

I used to be a Merry Maid – I cleaned between 4-6 house a day, 5 days a week. It was a very strenuous job and most of the time absolutely disgusting.

  • magpie November 29, 2008, 11:58 am

I worked on the trading floor at JPMorgan in NYC – get there at 6am, leave after 7:30pm, and be under constant stress because the mortgages that we are trading have no value. Ugh. So glad I’m done with that.

  • Mica November 29, 2008, 1:26 pm

Those cakes look and sound delicious! Mmm, what a great way to start the weekend!

  • Samantha November 29, 2008, 1:54 pm

I was a “Merry Maid” over summer after my freshman year of college. I lost all the weight I had put on the first year of college! We averaged 4 houses per day. No gym necessary!

  • Leah November 29, 2008, 3:13 pm

My hardest job ever is right now.. my career. I teach 30 children every day.. they are 10-11 years old and they are a LOT of work. I never imagined in my life how demanding my career would be. Every day I have 30 little people always wanting my attention. I wish I had more time each day to give each and every one of them to make sure they succeed in their academics.

  • Caitlin (see bride run) November 29, 2008, 4:16 pm

wow!! you guys have worked some CHALLENGING jobs!!

  • Kath November 29, 2008, 4:49 pm

I’m all over that cake!!! I LOVED cake tasting!!

My hardest job was when I was a sports counselor at a sleep-away camp. Talk about working 24 hours a day in 90* NC summertime heat!

  • Meg November 29, 2008, 8:00 pm

You picked some amazing flavors! YUM!

  • bitesoflife November 30, 2008, 11:25 am

Your cakes look amazing! Your flavor choices are awesome, definitely not the usual!

The hardest physical job I ever had was merchandising soda. I used to pull 2000+ lb pallets around and fill the shelf. I did that for two years, and I totally miss the muscle tone I had from that job! 😀

  • Amanda November 30, 2008, 8:45 pm

I worked at a horse racetrack and a racehorse breeding farm. Both were physically difficult. Racehorses are a bit, well, crazy! I had plenty of colts try to attack other horses while I was walking them… and one colt liked to bob his head and scrape his teeth on my thumb. He was odd.

The farm was fun, but tough work too. Foals can be feisty. I had a few foals hurt me, but nothing too bad. I got hit in the face by a broodmare’s head because she was mad that the vet was touching her baby!
