Pop Chips, Fresh Air Fund, and Zesty Cook!

Last night on the way home from dinner, my friend Harry said to me, "You know, whenever I feel like I have a lot to do, I just picture you always running around like a headless chicken and I feel much better."  HAH! Thanks, Harry.

It’s been a busy morning so far, and I’m about to head out the door to get some work done at job #2.  Then, I’m going to squeeze in a run and go see Food, Inc. with Megan and Meghann.  Yay!

Lunch was fabulous!

CIMG6989

I started off with a shot of Amazing Grass wheatgrass.  This isn’t suppose to "taste good" (hello, it’s wheatgrass!), but its so good for me that I don’t mind drinking it!

A cheese and red pepper quesadilla:

Grapes and Pop Chips:

The Pop Chips were a special treat because the company sent me a big box to sample and review:

Pop Chips are basically "healthy" potato chips.  Neither baked nor fried, they are heated to a high temperature so they "pop"!

This is my second time trying Pop Chips, and I must say that they are pretty yummy! I’m not a big "chip" person but if I had to choose between these and regular chips at the store, I would DEFINITELY get Pop Chips!

New York City Half Marathon

Are you in New York?  Are you dying to run the New York City Half Marathon?  Well, here’s a fun way to not going race, but to raise money for an excellent cause!

The Fresh Air Fund is looking for runners and sponsors to join the Fresh Air Fund-Racers team for the NYC Half-Marathon on August 16th.  Since 1877, The Fresh Air Fund, a not-for-profit agency, has provided free summer experiences in the country to more than 1.7 million New York City children from disadvantaged communities.  Each year, thousands of children visit volunteer host families in 13 states and Canada through the Friendly Town Program or attend one of five Fresh Air Fund camps.

Last summer’s NYC Half-Marathon Presented by NIKE was a huge success for The Fresh Air Fund, and The Fresh Air Fund couldn’t have done it without all of the Fund-Racers!  The Fresh Air Fund raised more than $125,000, which will go directly to their free programs for NYC children.

For more information, check out the Fresh Air Fund website!  What a wonderful cause!

And a Word from Zesty…

Zesty Cook is taking a fun poll – what food did you hate as a child that you LOVE now?  I said, "OATMEAL!"  Let Zesty know your new favorite food on his blog.

Have a fabulous afternoon!

The fiance and I are going to see Food, Inc. tonight, too! I've been wanting to see it and realized it's playing here (but not much longer!) so we're gonna be sure to catch it tonight! I've read the books it's based on, so it should be interesting. I'm curious to see what my fiance thinks about it though!

Aah! You put the bait in my face and I'm sitting here debating. I do about 3 miles every morning.. can I really ramp up in a month for a half marathon?

    Yikes!

Weirdly enough, I used to hate water as a kid but I LOVE it now. Does that count since it's not a food? Haha, same goes for brussel sprouts!

Try also checking out a great NY running guide, "Fun on Foot in New York," by Warwick Ford and Nola Ford. The routes are all new and fun, and a lot of people are even using it to train for the NY Marathon coming up.
