Juice Beauty Giveaway!

in All Posts

I woke up at a ridiculous hour (5 AM) and started work at 6.   I am so overloaded on work right now!

When I wake up so early, I really have difficulty eating breakfast right away.  So I ate breakfast in parts.  First, I had a coffee around 5:30 (liquid crack!).  And later, I had a slice of whole wheat toast with TJ’s Crunchy Peanut Butter.

 CIMG4508

Meghann brought me this all the way from California, and ooohmmmyyyygod, it is so GOOD! Thanks, Meghann! 🙂

A little bit after that, I drank a Green Monster.

 CIMG4513

It contained the usual mix:

  • 1 cup unsweetened almond breeze
  • 1 banana
  • 2 cups kale
  • 1 tablespoon ground flax

My weirdest skin concoction was toothpaste on a zit!  People swear it works, but I was just left with a minty-fresh pimple.  🙂

GOOD LUCK!

I put tea tree oil on my really bad pimples. It dries those suckers up in no time!

  • Julie April 29, 2009, 4:07 am

I also woke up at 5 am because i could,nt sleep (ugh), but yeah the weirdiest thing i tried was the toothpaste thing it did’nt work at all,and it is hard to get off.

  • Erica April 29, 2009, 4:08 am

OW! My skin needs this! Hmmm weirdest – eye drops to make a pimple look less red 😉

  • Tina April 29, 2009, 4:11 am

In junior high, my friend and I read about this mask made with beer (and some other ingredients) in a magazine. To make the mask, we took a beer from my friend’s father. We got in so much trouble because her parents thought we were drinking it! Then we had to tell them that we were making a facial mask, which was so embarrassing!

  • Ashley V April 29, 2009, 4:12 am

Oatmeal to soothe redness. It was very messy. I prefer my oats in a bowl 🙂

  • Stacey April 29, 2009, 4:14 am

the weirdest thing I put on my face was foot cream haha. I thought since it made the skin on my feet so smooth and great, that it would do the same for my face..WRONGO!!

  • Maria Ann April 29, 2009, 4:17 am

I once put toothpaste on a pimple…it didn’t really work

  • Elina April 29, 2009, 4:18 am

I’ve tried so many creams (and pills) for my skin. The “weirdest” thing I guess was this little buzzing machine. It was supposed to zap your zits away. It had tiny currents of electricity. Yeah, that didn’t work. 🙂

  • Thinspired April 29, 2009, 4:18 am

I love that green monster cup 😉 British accent guys rock.
Even if I don’t win the giveaway I am definitely checking out these products. Looks like a great company.

  • chocolatecoffeekitchen April 29, 2009, 4:24 am

LOVE the glass your green monster is in 🙂 I’ve been on a major green smoothie kick too lately, I add help protein to mine and sometimes it tastes like I’m drinking the lawn but I still love it 🙂

  • living2thetruth April 29, 2009, 4:24 am

Ha ha! I have had a few minty fresh pimples, but that never worked for me either. I have also tried Visine. I heard it takes the red out of zits too….wrong-o! I am excited to go get my supplies for the 30 day challenge tonight!

  • chocolatecoffeekitchen April 29, 2009, 4:25 am

hahah and by help protein, I mean hemp protein. Not sure how I messed that one up.

  • Balance, Joy and Delicias! April 29, 2009, 4:27 am

I need this!!! weirdest? yogurt and oatmeal as mask counts? ! 😀
I woke up at 5am too (and not only today, but since last saturday) 🙁 not fun!

  • Annalisa April 29, 2009, 4:29 am

weirdest thing that I still do — use extra virgin olive oil for moisturizer. I put it on all over before I shower, wait 5 mins (floss, brush my teeth, etc in this span) and shower as usual. No chemicals, organic, and I have super soft skin. It’s strange to tell people but, it works! FYI – i have been doing this for 6 mos. or so.

  • livelaughlyss April 29, 2009, 4:31 am

I use tea bags! The strong ones work best, so they kinda stink sometimes, but they dry out any pesty little sucker!

PS. Loved your comment… I think that’s the first time I’ve ever heard anyone say that to me, LOL!

  • greenbean April 29, 2009, 4:33 am

giveaway! i guess the weirdest is toothpaste or visine on a pimple. neither worked. the toothpaste just burned!

  • Audrey April 29, 2009, 4:34 am

I also tried toothpaste on a pimple- didnt work for me!

  • livelaughlyss April 29, 2009, 4:35 am

Oh, and PPS. (PSS?) – Did I ever tell you that I used to live in the same apartment complex as Rob Patterson? We shopped at the same grocery store!

  • Sally April 29, 2009, 4:36 am

My college roomie and I used to put Purell (hand sanitizer) on zits….and it worked really well!

  • Meghann April 29, 2009, 4:37 am

I’ve put clear nail polish on zits before. I have no idea what I was thinking. All it did was sting and the zit just stayed

  • Tami April 29, 2009, 4:39 am

i used my face with corn meal the other day and i loved it. i am trying all homemade concoctions lately and they seem to be working for me. Baking soda, tea tree oil,d dr. bronner tea tree soap, steaming my face twice a week….I like the affordability of it all too.

  • Sarah (lovINmytummy) April 29, 2009, 4:39 am

I used Irish Spring to wash my face. Oh wait, that was you. I’m more of a Zest girl.

Actually, I just thought of one. My being a smart ass almost cost everyone a great tip.

If you have dry skin around your hairline and eye brows, it can actually be a weird form of dandruff that hydrocortisone cream (i.e. cortaid) will clear right up. I swear, it works!

  • Aimee April 29, 2009, 4:44 am

I would love to try this, but no weird stories, I’ve always stuck with the basics.

  • Pam April 29, 2009, 4:46 am

I’ve tried just about everything for my zits! The weirst thing I ever tried was popping open a Vitamin E pill and putting the oil on my face… Didn’t work too well!

  • Carmen D. April 29, 2009, 4:47 am

Ooh once I mixed avocado, egg and honey together, put it on my face and then fell asleep in the sun. Lets just say that I looked like a peeling shrek when I woke up. It turned my face bright red and itchy. Ick. Just thinking of it now is making me squirm.

  • Christina April 29, 2009, 4:48 am

My weirdest skin concoction was when I was in middle school and my cousin and I decided to make face masks from a recipe we saw in a magazine. It was a mixture of oatmeal and mayo. It smelled so gross we had to wipe them right off!

  • Suzanne April 29, 2009, 4:52 am

Um, yeah. I rocked The ‘Tane in highschool. That’d be the ridiculiously harsh Accutane prescription acne med, for those out of the loop (bless you lucky souls). Greasy and uber-dry can apparently coexist, and live together they did on my face, neigh, my whole body. The med is so strong that it even requires blood tests and dietary changes for some users.

I recently read something super interesting, but super hypothetical on the internet about a link between Accutane and eating disorders? Anybody have any input there?

P.S. I missed last post, but Yuengling, oh wow, nectar of the Gods.

  • Jenny April 29, 2009, 5:00 am

Someone told me to exfoliate with pure sugar once, so I tried that but my skin just ended up looking like I had gone at it with sandpaper. Haha, ooops.

  • Stephanie April 29, 2009, 5:00 am

hemorrhoid cream for under eye puffiness. It works! I swear!!!

  • Lauren April 29, 2009, 5:01 am

I’ve rubbed olive oil on dry skin – works pretty well, actually!

  • itsawrapteacher April 29, 2009, 5:01 am

My weirdest treatment was whipped egg whites. It kept sliding off my face. Eww!

  • Mica April 29, 2009, 5:04 am

I've tried so many things, and they all fail–toothpaste (white & blue varieties), salt & baking powder, Neosporin, tea tree oil, and egg whites. Oh, high school…

  • Catie April 29, 2009, 5:09 am

i’ve really never done anything weird for my skin…hmm thats strange:( haha thanks for the giveaway!

  • Jackie April 29, 2009, 5:13 am

I’ve definitely tried toothpaste too! I still want to try a homemade fruity mask – or put cucumber on my eyes!

  • sals April 29, 2009, 5:18 am

ooh, I could so use this. I have also tried the toothpaste trick!

  • Amanda April 29, 2009, 5:18 am

I read somewhere that Apple Cider Vinegar was good for the skin. So, for two weeks I downed a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar in the morning and I applied it to my face in the evening with a cotton ball. It may work for some, but it didn’t do anything for me! And boy! That stuff tastes terrible and it burns going down.

  • dailygoods April 29, 2009, 5:20 am

tea tree oil sucks up pimples! you wouldn’ think an oil would be good for blemishes but it really does the trick!! nothing too strange though, looks like i’ve got to be more daring haha

  • emilydh211 April 29, 2009, 5:20 am

I think the weirdest skin treatment I have ever tried was this weird concoction that my friends and I saw in a magazine, i think it had oatmeal and egg whites and mayo. gross.

  • MoFish April 29, 2009, 5:20 am

My best friend and I do at-home facials. We steep green tea in a huge pot and then cover our heads with towels and time each other steaming our faces for 5 minutes. It really works!

  • *One Step at a Time* April 29, 2009, 5:21 am

My skin started to get horrible when I first got to college. Before then I had nearly flawless skin. To this day, my skin is still horrible! The randomest skin treatment i’ve ever tried would have to be a drunken night in college when my friend and I decided to make our own “face masks” with honey and a bunch of other weird ingrediants. Needless to say, it didn’t turn out very well!

  • Ellen W. April 29, 2009, 5:23 am

In high school, I put Neosporin on bad acne, thinking it would help with the inflammation… it didn’t! My skin still looks bad, I would love to try something new!

  • Laura April 29, 2009, 5:25 am

the weirdest thing i’ve ever done was toothpaste on a zit too! too bad it didnt work 🙁

  • Veronica K April 29, 2009, 5:25 am

I have tried the toothpaste thing too. Also, I tried spraying myself in the face with a green tea mist. My husband thought it was hilarious.

  • jenn April 29, 2009, 5:34 am

no weird concoctions, but if i get a random pimple i put a dab of visine on it to take the red out.

  • Allie Katie April 29, 2009, 5:38 am

When I was about 12 I read in Seventeen Magazine to hold a sliced potato to the zit in order to suck out the oil…it did NOT work!

  • sloank April 29, 2009, 5:38 am

After watching the movie, “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” I did indeed try to spray Windex on a pimple! I kid you not. Also, today is my birthday so this would be a perfect gift!! 😉

  • Mrs. LC April 29, 2009, 5:39 am

I used to always make a paste of baking soda and water, put it all over my face, let it dry, then wash it off. I hope it did something because I remember doing it a lot! (I think I’ll try it again!)

I also tried an oatmeal concoction on my face, but pretty sure that was immediately thrown out. 🙂

  • Victoria April 29, 2009, 5:39 am

I’ve tried the toothpaste too. Not a fan. I’ve found tea tree oil helps when my skin gets out of control. Mostly my routine is moisturize, moisturize, moisturize!

  • Alex April 29, 2009, 5:43 am

I definitely would love to try this! And my weirdest was also using toothpaste on a zit. 🙂 Geez, who started that rumor, anyway?

  • Amanda @ Fake Ginger April 29, 2009, 5:44 am

I don’t really have anything weird. I usually don’t do anything except wash my makeup off so I guess that’s weird.

  • Kristin April 29, 2009, 5:46 am

Avocado on my face!! (I would rather eat it)

  • Amisha April 29, 2009, 5:46 am

My weirdest skin treatment was trying preparation H on my face to relieve puffiness from an allergic reaction. IEW!! The worst part was I couldnt find it in the store and I had to ask one of the employees where the Prep H was. How embarrassing.

  • Elaine April 29, 2009, 5:48 am

I’ve tried toothpaste on my zits too! It didn’t work for me either!! But tea tree oil is awesome!

  • Piera April 29, 2009, 5:49 am

I’ve tried the toothpaste trick as well – except that I used a blue one and it left a blue mark!

Also, my mom swears by this one, taking a tea bag out of your tea, letting it cool and applying it to the zit. It actually reduces the little bugger!

  • L. Elizabeth April 29, 2009, 5:50 am

i use toothpaste on my bad zits and it works for me EVERYTIME. I swear it drys it right up and takes the red out. Must be every persons skin is different!

    Great giveaway!

  • angiemcgovern April 29, 2009, 5:52 am

I have used an oatmeal and honey mask, I am not sure what it was supposed to do; it was sticky but tasted good.

  • ttfn300 April 29, 2009, 5:55 am

neat product! i haven’t done too many crazy things to my skin, but i did try the toothpaste thing once 🙂 i’m with you… it didn’t work!

  • Stephanie April 29, 2009, 5:55 am

Alcohol or hydrogen peroxide!! In hopes it would dry them up!

  • Sarah April 29, 2009, 5:58 am

I did an avocado and honey mixture…I have no idea why. I mean, it was really just a waste of a good avocado! 🙂

  • Jessica April 29, 2009, 5:59 am

hahah! I totally have done the toothpaste remedy! I am also guilty of putting regular rubbing alchohol on zits too.

  • Kelsey April 29, 2009, 5:59 am

I think toothpaste is the strangest thing I’ve ever done. And I don’t even think it worked!

  • Brandi April 29, 2009, 6:00 am

ha, I’ve tried the toothpaste, too 🙂

    at least it smelled good!

  • caitlin April 29, 2009, 6:01 am

Yep I’ve done toothpaste, and oatmeal and dunked my face in a bowl of milk and I’m pretty sure one of my oatmeal, honey, milk concoctions also contained avocado…..

When I was 15 I was a huge believer in home remedies that I read in teenage magazines and I’m pretty sure they only made my skin worse!

  • Shannon April 29, 2009, 6:03 am

I don’t know if this is weird, but I sometimes try using those clay mask things on my whole face. I’m pretty sure I resemble an alien while it’s on!

  • Lynne April 29, 2009, 6:03 am

I’ve tried eye drops, crushed asprin, various facial products, tea bags, etc. Never toothpaste, though.

  • seesaraheat April 29, 2009, 6:04 am

Weirdest? Hmm, well I’ve done the man’s bar soap thing (haha) and I’ve put cucumbers, tea bags and all kinds of masks on my face. My weirdest things are with my hair though: beer, lemon juice, etc.

  • finkleberry April 29, 2009, 6:06 am

I once but oatmeal all over my face…it was weird…kinda like having breakfast all over my face. I also but mayonnaise in my hair once…weird.

  • Melissa @ For the Love of Health April 29, 2009, 6:07 am

    What a great giveaway!

Weirdest skin treatment: probably toothpaste on a pimple

  • Raspberry Twist: April 29, 2009, 6:08 am

    I’ve tried putting toothpaste on zits b/c I heard its supposed to ‘balance out the ph of your skin’ or something like that. It doesn’t haha. A good natural mask I do break out every once in awhile is plain yogurt mixed with honey…which is messy, but for some reason it seems to work! ;}

  • Amy April 29, 2009, 6:14 am

My weirdest thing was rubbing lemon on my face when I thought freckles weren’t cool. I think I saw it on the Brady bunch one time and thought it was a good idea. All I was left with lemon-scented skin and just as many freckles (that I now love) as I had before. haha

  • Danielle April 29, 2009, 6:14 am

I too have tried the toothpaste on a zit.
I’ve also bought this contraption that sucks the dirt out of your pores, it’s weird but I love it and it does work!

  • Weight and Meditate April 29, 2009, 6:17 am

I’ve put toothpaste on zits, rubbing alcohol on zits, and as an adult have Rosacea, and have tried all sorts of creams for that! Yikes!

  • Missy April 29, 2009, 6:18 am

I tried mayonnaise in my hair! It was supposed to be a great deep conditioning treatment. Let’s just say I was grossed out by mayo for the next year!

  • Bula April 29, 2009, 6:19 am

um… My mom is a little superstitious.. When I had my very first menses & told her, she told me to cover my face with the blood from my first menses to prevent pimples for life.

Let's just say that I decided to use oxy instead. ::shudder::

I'm pretty sure my older sister used her advice.

  • Kelly April 29, 2009, 6:20 am

I have tried visine, toothpaste, oatmeal face wash, egg white masks…you name it, I have tried it 🙂

  • Kelly April 29, 2009, 6:21 am

ewww…I just read Bula’s…as much as I would love to win…she deserves it!

  • Kimberly April 29, 2009, 6:22 am

A homemade oatmeal facial… ironically, I hate oats for consumption purposes, but they make a pretty good face mask!

  • Anna April 29, 2009, 6:22 am

I once bought a “pore clearing machine.” This entailed putting the hand-held machine over a zit and turning it on to clear my pores of the zit. It didn’t work, it hurt, and it left red spots on my skin.

  • Jaime April 29, 2009, 6:25 am

Windex..after watching Big, Fat Greek Wedding I decided to give it a whirl!

  • Julia April 29, 2009, 6:26 am

The weirdest thing I’ve tried was a homemade scrub made with olive oil and sugar…it smelled really weird and didn’t do much good. And it used up some olive oil, that stuff isn’t cheap enough to use on skin!

  • Maya April 29, 2009, 6:26 am

I can’t say I’ve tried anything strange…mabe I hsould give windex a try though, à la Greek Wedding!

  • Lea April 29, 2009, 6:28 am

Hmmmm…I haven’t tried it myself yet, but my friend uses Monistat Anti-chafing gel as a makeup primer instead of the more expensive Smashbox Photo Finish. She swears it works like a charm and haven’t experienced any breakouts. I, being curious, googled it and behold it is being used by more than a few peeps. Interesting to say the least.

Thanks for the awesome giveaway. Hope I win…

  • Melissa O'Loughlin April 29, 2009, 6:34 am

Ooooh I would LOVE to try out the blemish clearing serum, what a fun giveaway!

I have to agree with you and say that my funniest pimple clearing regime included putting toothpaste all over my face and then bandaids atop it all to really lock in the magic.

Same as you, I’d wake up with the same problem areas but smelled quite minty clean! =]

  • Hal April 29, 2009, 6:35 am

i used to put oatmeal masks and then put toothpaste too! it just got crusty! 🙂

  • balancemycake April 29, 2009, 6:36 am

    The weirdest huh?

I have no idea! I have such sensitive skin that everything bothers it! I do have a perscription gel to put on pimples though that winds up drying out your skin so much that within 30 seconds, it’s flaking off! ugh!!

  • carolinebee April 29, 2009, 6:37 am

Um.don’t know if it’s a “skin treatment”, but my FRIEND was told that pressing a refrigerated spoon on a hickey will make the size and redness go away…ya, didn’t work that well.

Glad you liked the PB that’s the one I always get so I recommended it!! 😀

  • Allison April 29, 2009, 6:37 am

I’ve tried the toothpaste trick too – didn’t work!

  • Amy April 29, 2009, 6:39 am

When I was little, I absolutely loved Lancaster brand deli bologna. I would take a piece, cut out holes for eyes and a mouth and then put it on my face and chase my brothers, yelling ‘I’m a bologna monster!!’ Does that count?? I just remembered this — I wonder if that had anything to do with skins problems in recent years!?!?

  • tfh April 29, 2009, 6:40 am

    I love the TJ’s pb!

I’ve tried tons of weird things with my face. The weirdest? My mother-in-law swears by a combination of turmeric, chickpea flour, and yogurt on her face– it leaves her dark complexion glowing. I tried it, and the turmeric stained my very fair skin yellow. I looked jaundiced!

  • lucy April 29, 2009, 6:40 am

i tried an egg mask once. ick!

  • Ashley & Bo April 29, 2009, 6:41 am

I’ve done the toothpaste thing and it worked for me because it dried it up (nasty I know). But, the weirdest thing i’ve done is force my fiance to change our pillowcases NIGHTLY after I read that the grease can cause pimples/breakouts. It was a PAIN and we didn’t see any improvement in his skin. HA! By the way, hop on over to my site today and add your favorite recipe! I bet you have some great ones:)

  • Neely April 29, 2009, 6:42 am

I have eye drops before, but didn’t find that they worked at all. However, I am a total believer in the toothpaste thing!

  • healthy ashley April 29, 2009, 6:42 am

    Ooooh I would love this!

    I’ve put toothpaste on blemishes!

  • K from ksgoodeats April 29, 2009, 6:43 am

I’ve tried the toothpaste thing and it didn’t work very well for me! I just smelled minty! There was this product by Burt’s Bees that worked really well on my middle school face (Blemish Stick, I think?).

  • Amy Pacheco April 29, 2009, 6:43 am

The weirdest skin treatment I have tried was a concoction of Marigold Petals with Castor Oil! I had read about online and decided to try it — needless to say it did not work :/

  • iowagirleats April 29, 2009, 6:45 am

Same! Mine was the toothpaste on a zit – I swear it worked…!

  • stacey April 29, 2009, 6:46 am

I have used toothpaste on a blemish as well. It did not work!

  • Julie April 29, 2009, 6:50 am

In my teen years, I tried lots of things on pimples! Hemroid cream to lessen swelling is probably the most cringe-worthy. It didn’t work and I felt so foolish buying it!

  • Julia April 29, 2009, 6:54 am

drinking this vinegar “juice.” My mom recommended it. It did not work, and it was nasty!

  • gengie April 29, 2009, 6:57 am

Def tried tea tree oil…and tea bags. Tea bags leave a great astringent feeling but I’m not sure they do anything.:(

Just found your blog and I love it!

  • Sarah April 29, 2009, 6:57 am

I’ve used the toothpaste… who ever thought of that anyway?

  • Leah April 29, 2009, 7:01 am

I’ve done lots of different “home remedies” like oatmeal masks, avocado hair masks, toothpaste on zits, lemon juice on hair to bleach it in the sun, cold cucumbers on eyes… but the weirdest and worst idea was red cool aide to dye my hair!!! so bad

  • aNd! April 29, 2009, 7:04 am

I’ve done the toothpaste thing. Probably the weirdest thing I tried was mixing the inside of a tylenol capsule with some water to form paste and applying directly on fever blister. I don’t think it did anything, lol.

  • Jess M April 29, 2009, 7:05 am

The weirdest skin treatments I’ve ever tried were warm tea bags on my face, oatmeal masks, and olive oil face wash.

  • JW April 29, 2009, 7:06 am

I guess the wierdest thing I’ve tried is toothpaste on a pimple. I wouldn’t recommend it though!

  • Caitlin April 29, 2009, 7:08 am

someone told me to put olive oil in my hair to make it shiny…well I couldn’t get it out for days!

  • EL April 29, 2009, 7:09 am

I cannot think of anything strange I have put on my face, but my Mom use to put mayonnaise in my hair to condition it. It smells awful, but seemed to work.

  • Rose April 29, 2009, 7:12 am

The weirdest would have to be toothpaste, as I’m sure many others can attest to.

  • Shannon April 29, 2009, 7:14 am

    I just turned 29 and NOW I’m breaking out….cool!

  • Cara April 29, 2009, 7:15 am

Windex on a zit… just like in the movie “My Big Fat Greek Wedding”!!! It didn’t work!

  • Law school chiquita April 29, 2009, 7:16 am

Hey there! I think the weirdest thing I tried was an oatmeal egg mask. It was pretty awful!

  • Briana April 29, 2009, 7:16 am

I put egg yolks on my face first then whipped egg whites….haha it was supposed to be good for it make it smoother and clear

  • TanyaS April 29, 2009, 7:20 am

I tried a homemade mask with molasses & honey. I can't remember the purpose, but what a sticky mess to get off.

  • Siobhan April 29, 2009, 7:21 am

My old roommate convinced me that if I slept with a piece of wet bread on my pimple (held in place by a bandaid) I would wake up with clear skin…not so much.

  • sunflower62883 April 29, 2009, 7:23 am

I had really dry skin and someone told me to slather mayonaise on it to moisturize! It was gross and did not work!!

  • haya April 29, 2009, 7:23 am

oatmeal strawberry facial mask thing. it looked tasty! don’t know if it did anything though.

  • Niki April 29, 2009, 7:24 am

Mine is toothpaste on a pimple too!! Haha that’s funny:)

  • Carrie H April 29, 2009, 7:26 am

I rubbed olive oil all over my scalp for dry skin once. But, in my defense, I read about it in Women’s Health … But it took two shampoos to get it out! Totally not worth it, cause my scalp was dry again after that. Ha.

  • Red Head, Yellow Dog April 29, 2009, 7:26 am

    I need that!!

I’ve put Apple Cider Vinegar on my face! I’m actually going to start drinking it on my mom’s reccomendation…weird but we’ll see if it works and I’m all about the natural route!

  • sweetandfit April 29, 2009, 7:31 am

odds aren’t looking that great, but hey – doesn’t hurt to try!

The weirdest think I have done has got to be making my own face scrub with baking soda and water – it burned!

  • Maddy April 29, 2009, 7:32 am

My aunt used to make us rub plain yogurt on our sunburns. Prettyyyy gross and weird haha

  • alli April 29, 2009, 7:36 am

my friends and i rubbed apple cider vinegar on our faces in the college dorm bathroom… i swear i smelled it for the next week… and got no results!

  • Run Sarah April 29, 2009, 7:36 am

I’ve tried the toothpaste and also ice on a zit, didn’t really work!

  • Emily April 29, 2009, 7:41 am

I tried the toothpaste thing too! But I guess the weirdest is the miracle-overnight-pimple-be-gone cream. That’s the biggest bag of bologny!

  • Brooke April 29, 2009, 7:42 am

Bengay under my eyes… weirdest thing ever! Its supposed to reduce swelling there too, but I just ended up smelling funny.

  • Oh She Glows April 29, 2009, 7:42 am

    Oh how exciting!

Weirdest skin treatment…probably this facial I got at a spa once. She was extracting my pores on my nose and it hurt so bad I had tears streaming down my face!

  • Becca April 29, 2009, 7:43 am

Fun giveaway! Honestly, I have never tried a weird beauty treatment, but I hope I win! 🙂

  • Jen April 29, 2009, 7:47 am

I tried Preparation H to tighten undereye circles… It freaked me out so I washed it off! 🙂

  • L.A. Daze April 29, 2009, 7:50 am

Rubbing tomato on a pimple. It didn’t do anything except make my face icky. I’ve also tried the toothpaste on a pimple (last week actually!), and it burned!

  • bb April 29, 2009, 7:55 am

Oh, I’ve tried toothpaste on a pimple…it actually worked!

  • Lindsay April 29, 2009, 7:56 am

cool! weirdest thing I have tried would be an attemot at making my own face mask …

  • Suzanne April 29, 2009, 8:02 am

I’ve used mayonnaise as a mask before… it was pretty gross…

  • Andi Cunningham April 29, 2009, 8:04 am

Aspirin masks work great on broken-out skin!

  • Lora April 29, 2009, 8:06 am

i have never tried a weird skin treatment but I did wash my hair with beer and egg like catherine zeta jones to get shiny healthy hair! unfortunately my hair just smelled bad for days 🙂

  • Katie April 29, 2009, 8:06 am

I’ll be honest, ammonia for a cold sore I had on my lip. It certainly dried it up but also made me nearly pass out from the fumes.

  • ash April 29, 2009, 8:08 am

i have the same concoction as you! too bad it didnt work..because it sure was inexpensive 😉

  • Footprints and Fingertips April 29, 2009, 8:16 am

A friend of mine was able to convince me to try a homemade face mask with her one time. It was a combo of avocado, mayo and some egg and a couple of other things. I was supposed to leave it on for 30 minutes but it did not smell very good and I only made it 10. Needless to say, I saw no results 🙂 Thanks for the giveaway!

  • redheadedjournal April 29, 2009, 8:16 am

I have a green face mask that looks pretty funky. I have to warn my husband about it before I do it 🙂

  • Jaclyn April 29, 2009, 8:18 am

toothpaste; have to agree with you there…

  • Krista April 29, 2009, 8:21 am

Well, kind of embarassing but when I was in high school I was told that hemorroid cream would help blemishes go away. I made my Mom buy it for me at the store and attempted to use it on my blemishes. Didn’t last long as the smell is so unpleasant and, honestly, it didn’t help. The crazy things we do!

  • Michelle April 29, 2009, 8:24 am

In junior high I used to use rubbing alcohol! My friend suggested it to me…it seemed to work at first, and then my face got so dry and gross!

  • Jennifer April 29, 2009, 8:24 am

I heard years ago that a model put Milk of Magnesia on her face, I wanna say it was Tyra Banks but I could be wrong. I did it once but then just felt stupid!

  • Holly April 29, 2009, 8:26 am

I tried the toothpaste too, back in my teen years, haha! Not only did it not work, it actually burned my skin-ouch! I think I heard about trying it on some (probably bad) sitcom back in the day and thought I’d try it. Too funny.

  • A + M April 29, 2009, 8:27 am

Honey! I used it as a hydrating mask back in the day 🙂

  • Internal Peace April 29, 2009, 8:34 am

I haven’t tried any strange treatments because I tend to be a low maintenance girl. But I’d love to win and try Juice Beauty’s Blemish Clearing Serum.

  • Anonymous April 29, 2009, 8:45 am

I tried toothpaste on a pimple- didnt work for me!

  • Allison R. April 29, 2009, 8:46 am

I made a mask with honey which is supposed to moisterize. It seemed to work, but it was a little sticky and messy! 🙂

  • Danielle J April 29, 2009, 8:49 am

toothpaste on a pimple overnight.. weird

  • Audrey W. April 29, 2009, 8:55 am

when i was about 16 i read an article that said pimples were an infection so i put some neosporin on my face before bed and woke up and it had bleached my pillow cases a different color..my mom was not please. and i still had pimples.

  • sarah April 29, 2009, 9:02 am

i made a yogurt/oat mask once 🙂 i don’t think it worked. would love some juice serum!

  • Christie April 29, 2009, 9:16 am

I have tried tons of over the counter medicines that didn’t really work (or I didn’t keep up with). The strangest for me was probably also the toothpaste. I put it all over my face and it stung so.badly! I couldn’t open my eyes for hours. Right now thinking about it is making my eyes water a little.

  • Runeatrepeat April 29, 2009, 9:17 am

I put toothpaste on a pimple before. I remember a friend in jr. high suggested it. So, I went to bed with a polka dot face to cover all my pimples!

  • bee April 29, 2009, 9:22 am

when i’m really desperate, i crush up asprin and put in on the zits. it basically falls off and i’m left with asprin dandruff by the morning, but i tell myself it works…

  • Anonymous April 29, 2009, 9:26 am

I’ve never really tried anything weird on my face, but I did put olive oil in my hair once! I heard it helps with dry skin and dandruff, but I definitely put tooo much EVOO in! My hair was greasy for days afterwards!

  • Den grønne pige siger: April 29, 2009, 9:30 am

the weirdest thing I ever did, was trying to get rid of a pimple, by sticking a needle into i. It got really infected and red, so don’t try it.

  • Ashley April 29, 2009, 9:35 am

I’ve done the toothpaste thing. And when I was little I tried to get rid of my freckles with lemon juice, lol, needless to say I still have freckles.

  • Zoe April 29, 2009, 9:37 am

LOL!!! I was just thinkin of how as a teen we swore by toothpaste on a pimple…maybe whitening toothpaste would reduce the redness…maybe??!!

  • S.I.T.C. April 29, 2009, 9:40 am

hmmmm…the weirdest but most effective thing I ever tried was microdermabrasion! works miracles for my skin:)

    check out my new blog:

  • sandy April 29, 2009, 9:41 am

egg yolks on the face,(stir up a couple and put on face, let dry) I read that is tightens pores but u have to do it like everyday, after a few days it did seem to work, but it was just too gross so I stopped

  • Anonymous April 29, 2009, 9:42 am

I have heard of bird poo facial, no I will never try it, but I like tea tree oil. brittany

  • Adriana Garcia April 29, 2009, 9:44 am

Whipping egg whites and rubbing them on my skin to prevent wrinkles…ha ha ha does it even work, i don’t know!

  • lilveggiepatch April 29, 2009, 9:51 am

Olive oil on my face overnight (REALLY messy) and a 10-minute mushed up papaya mask. I hate the smell of papaya, so this wasn’t so pleasant!

  • Do-Maura-rigatou April 29, 2009, 9:54 am

I’m guilty of the toothpaste trick as well. I’ve also tried lemon juice. Not so hot!

  • LT April 29, 2009, 9:55 am

I’m a total natural, home remedy nut! I guess I’m really stressed out right now b/c I am breaking out like no other!! (Maybe b/c I have finals, graduation and moving to Spain in the next 3 weeks 😉

I usually put toothpaste on my zits and leave it on overnight. I’ve also done teabags, avocado, and plan on doing this egg white thing tonight. I also use coconut oil as moisturizer almost every night.

  • Amanda April 29, 2009, 9:55 am

I actually bought a zeno a few years ago to treat a really bad pimple. It was about $200 (expensive!) and was supposed to use heat to kill the pimple. Unfortunately, it just burned my skin and left marks that lasted a lot longer than the pimple! Live and learn. haha

  • Jill Will Run April 29, 2009, 9:57 am

Well, you’ve got a ton of comments so far, but I’m going to throw my hat in the ring on this one… just because the product sounds really cool and I’ve found that with each passing year I am getting MORE acne. Seriously, year 30 is far worse than any teenage time.

The weirdest thing for me was to try those pore strips… it actually made me cry trying to pry the thing off and I ended up using water to re-soften it to try getting off my face and swore never to try that again. I may be an anomaly since I have a scar on my nose from a childhood accident, but the pain wasn’t worth whatever benefits I was supposed to gain!

  • Katherine April 29, 2009, 10:00 am

    Windex! It heals everything…

Oh…wait…I think that was just from My Big Fat Greek Wedding…

    I’ve never tried it?

  • Beezus April 29, 2009, 10:01 am

My pimple solutions are not nearly as exciting as others… I think the weirdest I’ve tried was grapefruit seed extract.

  • kirsten April 29, 2009, 10:10 am

i’ve also done the toothpaste thing, sadly it did not work for me either.

  • Natalie April 29, 2009, 10:15 am

toothpaste on a zit was mine as well! it didn’t work 🙂

  • Marisa April 29, 2009, 10:16 am

once i mixed crushed aspirin with water to make a paste … it actually worked, but it stung like the dickens!!

  • Anonymous April 29, 2009, 10:18 am

weirdest skin treatment was when a had some lady pick and pop everything on my face for about an hour. I know completely disgusting and really painful and ended up not doing much for my skin other than turning it cherry red!

    Michelle C.

  • Liz April 29, 2009, 10:18 am

Awesome. I’m not the only one. Back through the real bad pimple years, which started in about 6th grade through high school. I was convinced that by using just plain old white toothpaste on a zit it would magically go away. I’ve also tried just leaving acne medicine on a zit over night (not rubbing it in)

  • Arwen April 29, 2009, 10:19 am

Garlic for acne. I have read it works, but it just burnt my skin! My skin is pretty sensitive so I wonder if it had anything to do with that.

  • Danica's Daily April 29, 2009, 10:22 am

I tried the toothpaste on a zit thing too. Another time in college one of my friends said Hemorrhoid Cream would reduce puffy eyes….ummmm…ya, I used butt cream on my face at one point in my life!!! 🙂

  • Nally April 29, 2009, 10:31 am

I swear by an avocado mask at least once monthly it gives my skin such a glow. I also use vaseline around my eyes (crows feet area) even though i’m only 25lol, BUT my mom swears by this and at 62 yrs old she looks amazing!!! I must say i too tried the toothpaste on a zit.

  • Emily April 29, 2009, 10:45 am

i’ve heard of the toothpaste thing. i guess i’ve never tried anything too bizarre. i try not to use anything too chemical-y. i like natural treatments. …have you heard of the bird poop facial? that may be natural, but i don’t think i would try it!

  • Jessica April 29, 2009, 10:52 am

Lemon juice on a pimple to dry it out…needless to say, it didn’t work!

  • JLF April 29, 2009, 10:53 am

I read that popping a few Tums helps with stress which can cause breakouts. I didn't see any change in zit reduction & I was left with the nasty chalky taste in my mouth!

  • Monica L April 29, 2009, 11:04 am

I read that eyedrops can take the redness away from zits..low and behold, it works!

  • Mandy April 29, 2009, 11:08 am

I’ve done the toothpaste on the zit thing as well… I’ve also exfoliated with granulated sugar. Neither was a pleasant experience.

  • Andrea of Care to Eat April 29, 2009, 11:23 am

Toothpaste – so junior high! I’ve tried honey, but it just left me sticky.

  • Elizabeth April 29, 2009, 11:38 am

The weirdest skin thing was toothpaste as well. I am not sure that it worked, but that’s the only thing I have ever tried that’s kinda odd. 🙂

  • rainbow2004 April 29, 2009, 11:48 am

Weirdest thing I tried was vinegar!
    great blog, keep it up!

  • Word of the Day April 29, 2009, 11:49 am

Let’s see…toothpaste, oatmeal, visine!!!!! (i read in a magazine that it helped to reduce redness not only in your eyes, but apparently on your skin. totally didnt work)

  • DLap April 29, 2009, 11:49 am

I tried windex once…saw it on my big fat greek wedding! HA!

  • Kristin April 29, 2009, 11:51 am

My boyfriend had this zit cream that I put on a zit and my skin around the zit turned BRIGHT RED. I swear it was just like kelly kapowski on that saved by the bell episode. i was MORTIFIED.

  • Coley April 29, 2009, 12:19 pm

The wierdest thing I have used is tea tree oil and toothpaste. Neither seemed to work all that well!

  • Dana April 29, 2009, 12:22 pm

i totally agree…toothpaste has to be the weirdest thing i have put on a pimple lol! love the give-away!

i love your new skin challenge…you inspired me to try to improve my routine.

  • Laura K. April 29, 2009, 12:27 pm

I’ve tried the toothpaste as well, and it actually worked!

  • Lisa M April 29, 2009, 12:28 pm

Umm…I’m embarrassed even remembering this…when I was in high school I had BRUTAL skin and I once dusted baby powder on my face, not sure what I was thinking?? Soak up the oil maybe?
    Huh?? LOL!

  • fitforfree April 29, 2009, 12:29 pm

I’ve done the toothpaste thing, too!! It dried out the skin AROUND the pimple 🙂
    awesome giveaway!

  • Learning to Cope w/ Eating and College April 29, 2009, 12:31 pm

I also woke before my alarm this morning and I totally wish that I could go back to bed now, but unfortunately I have to go to class at 4pm, but I also hope that I can get a chance of winning the face cream because I have not really ever used any products on my face and as a result is a little lacking in luster!! 🙁

  • Kristie Lynn April 29, 2009, 12:34 pm

I definitely tried egg on my face… yeah, I don’t know if it helped but I was so grossed out that I decided it just couldn’t be worth it.

  • Paige April 29, 2009, 12:39 pm

Once I tried to use normal body lotion on my face thinking it would be extra-moisturizing. Nope. My face broke out like crazy.

  • april April 29, 2009, 12:58 pm

My mom always taught us to put alcohol on our pimples! it worked but man was our skin dry..lol!

  • Katie April 29, 2009, 1:21 pm

I hope this counts as skin treatment….but using Nair for eyebrows, totally burned and made my skin peel!

  • Anne April 29, 2009, 1:21 pm

I haven’t tried too many weird things, but I have put toothpaste on pimples before. It didn’t work, haha!

  • RunToFinish April 29, 2009, 1:43 pm

Umm i put chapstick on my nips after a bad run where I rubbed the raw…that was really weird

  • Susan April 29, 2009, 2:06 pm

I’ve done the toothpaste on a zit thing too! Also, mixing baking soda with water to help exfoliate.

  • Sarah April 29, 2009, 2:10 pm

    Whisked Egg Mask

  • Tiffany P April 29, 2009, 2:10 pm

I don’t have a funny face one but I have a hair story. I tried putting mayo in my hair to moisturize it…yucky. I dont even like the taste of mayo so the smell of it in my hair was gross.

  • Laura E April 29, 2009, 2:15 pm

My weirdest skin concoction was a mixture of oatmeal and honey to put on my face(I read it in a magazine!). It was super hard to get off and I didn’t notice a difference in the look or feel of my skin.

  • Sarah April 29, 2009, 2:38 pm

    egg whites… gross! 😉

  • Bing April 29, 2009, 2:56 pm

My cousin did this everynight and had me try it, moisturize my face at night with petroleum jelly… yuck!

  • Andrea April 29, 2009, 2:59 pm

I have used the toothpaste trick but that was it for my “creativity” but I have tried alot of over the counter products

  • Rachel S April 29, 2009, 3:12 pm

I haven’t tried anything too out-there for my face, but I have definitely overloaded toothpaste on zits in a desperate attempt to clear them away fast! Of course, it doesn’t work for me!

My email (in case I win) is stardust8529 (at) yahoo (dot) com.

  • Ilene April 29, 2009, 3:17 pm

OHMYGOSH i was going to say the toothpaste on zit thing! it actually sometimes works for met hough!

  • Stephanie April 29, 2009, 3:21 pm

Since I have very sensitive skin, I’m very careful with what I use for my skin. The one weird thing that I have tried is putting toothpaste on my blemishes

  • Alisha April 29, 2009, 3:46 pm

I heard putting a little mayo on your face as a mask would help your skin glow. I didn’t even think about it, and used Miracle Whip, wow, not the same thing at all, all those spices in it, my skin was on fire, even after I washed it off!

  • Lisa April 29, 2009, 4:31 pm

um, windex a la my big fat greek wedding

  • MaryBe April 29, 2009, 4:53 pm

Well, I am have been pretty lucky in the NO blemishes department. But, I did have fairly large pores, to the point where I thought I would eventually have cosmetic surgery to clear them up. Anyway, I QUIT SMOKING, and damn if they didn’t go away! I was freaking SUFFOCATING my skin by smoking.
Two years later, I have beautiful, smooth skin again

  • just me April 29, 2009, 4:55 pm

um, once my best friend used windex on my pimple, and i broke out in hives. hahahaa!

  • JDS April 29, 2009, 5:54 pm

i’ve done toothpaste on a zit too!

  • Amandamoo April 29, 2009, 6:13 pm

Oh! I’ve done the toothpaste “treatment” too!

  • Katie April 29, 2009, 6:20 pm

I have used castor oil and other oils to cleanse my skin.

  • MareBare April 29, 2009, 6:39 pm

Yay! I’m so glad youre getting free juice stuff! the blemish spot treatment is amazing and you can even wear it under your makeup- best purchase I ever made!
my weirdest beauty treatment: ice on blemishes- it never worked justmade them more red and cold
    🙁

  • adrianna April 29, 2009, 6:47 pm

oooh yea, have tried the toothpaste many a time. used to whip up an egg and put it on my face, then rinse off after 5-10 min. so goopy and odd!

  • Olga April 29, 2009, 7:03 pm

    Awesome giveaway!

This is beyond gross…but when I was growing up in Ukraine, my grandparents told us to put earwax on chapped lips…It worked though!

  • Marina April 29, 2009, 7:52 pm

I’ve tried putting olive oil on my face, but I had to stop because I couldn’t handle the smell.

  • Ari April 29, 2009, 8:10 pm

I’ve tried soaking in mineral hot springs, it’s supposed to be great for your skin but the sulfur smells horrible, it’s hard to enjoy yourself when all you smell is rotten eggs…

  • Jacquelyn April 29, 2009, 9:53 pm

Once we were in florida at a brunch table and I had a small cut, not blemish, but cut on my face, it was a paper cut. Well I was 11 or 12 and my Grandpa jokingly told me to put ORANGE JUICE on it so it will heal faster. So I gave it a go and it burned like fire. acid and open would on your face did not make for a happy breakfast! hahahah at least now I know, I was scarred mentally, not physically, never put oj on your cuts let alone your face!! 🙂

  • Durian Eater April 29, 2009, 10:07 pm

a concoction of egg whites mixed with lemon juice used as a mask…
I don’t know if it ever really helped, but at least it didn’t make it worse?

  • QY April 30, 2009, 3:54 am

i’ve tried toothpaste as well… it only worked the first couple of times.

  • Leanne April 30, 2009, 4:04 am

When I was like 10, my cousins and I definitely heard somewhere that oatmeal was good for face masks so we concocted our own mixture of oatmeal with facial creams and washes we found in the bathroom. We didn’t even have pimples yet! LOL It was horrible.

I also put Chapstick all over my face once… I was a smart child.

  • holly m April 30, 2009, 4:43 am

I dunno if it is necessarily “weird” but I’ve tried lemon juice.. epic fail

    hollym604@yahoo.com

  • Priyanka April 30, 2009, 5:09 am

I have tried the toothpaste on my acne once, but i don’t think that it really worked!

  • andrea d April 30, 2009, 5:36 am

    adimario85@comcast.net

  • Haleigh April 30, 2009, 6:10 am

I haven’t really tried any weird skin treatments… but, I did make a homemade mask out of honey and oatmeal once 🙂

  • Steph April 30, 2009, 6:32 am

I would also fall under the toothpaste category!! I don’t think it helped my blemish at all…it was just weird!

  • princessvalecia April 30, 2009, 6:53 am

I think the weirdest is an egg on my face, but Ive heard of far worse like….baby urine to clear up skin eww I think I’d just keep the acne

  • Skye April 30, 2009, 7:14 am

I have tried toothpaste on a zit too!

My weirdest beauty fix (which is not that strange) is that I never wash my face at night…my skin freaks out when I do!

  • Amandaaa April 30, 2009, 7:22 am

my face could use such a thing!

my friend once told me about some
home remedy. it was some sort
of egg mixture. so i gave it a try.
it smelled awful and it made
me SOOOO blotchy! it was not a pretty sight.

5am? sheesh. that is terribly early!

The weirdest thing I’ve tried is making a facemask of oatmeal, honey, and brewed black tea as a treatment for a baaaaad sunburn!

Hmmm no weird skin treatments, but I did once get a really nice facial and it was the best thing I have ever experienced!

I did however, also try the toothpaste trick…def doesnt work!

I have also tried the toothpaste thing, works decent.

Back in high school I had a copy of the Body Shop book and we tried all sorts of homemade face masks and creams with avocado, tea, bananas etc.

I, too, have tried the toothpaste remedy. I think all I got out of it was a minty fresh face. Hah!

-vaseline to moisturize, especially in the winter, especially feet. (try it on really dry hands with gloves while you sleep!)
-water, lemon juice & salt when i had dreadlocks. (for tightening them up.)
-brown sugar to exfoliate my legs & arms. (worked really well, but i don't have sensitive skin.)
-baking soda & water as a face mask (thanks "natural beauty care" book)–my face dried out, turned red & splotchy, and stung. and i do NOT have sensitive skin. even my dad commented on it. 🙁
-kool aid to dye my hair, multiple times, in middle school. (worked! and smelled YUMMY!)
-again, in middle school, to REMOVE hair dye from around my face… rubbing alcohol, hydrogen peroxide, and nail polish remover. it worked, but ouch.

I put toothpaste on the zit…yeah, it didn’t work so well.

I love Juice Beauty products- I hope I win this!
My weirdest and BEST skin treatment if for puffy morning eyes: stick a spoon in a small glass of ice water for a few minutes and then place the back of the spoon under each eye for a few seconds. The cool metal will get rid of the puffies in no time!

I have also used toothpaste, but didn’t notice any difference. I would LOVE to try this product!

I did the same concoction that your previous reader Tina tried out: the beer facial! Only while Tina was instructed to do so by a magazine, it was my mother who gave me the idea!
Surprisingly enough, it actually sort of worked.
