I Feel Lazy

in All Posts

Evening!  I sure feel lazy tonight.  Two days without a workout always makes me feel this way.  And watching The Biggest Loser isn’t helping — I’m laying in bed, and they are biking like maniacs! 🙂

I actually drove ALL over town tonight because I really wanted to buy Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred, but no one had it in stock! I guess it’s popular — have you tried it?

Here are the day’s eats… Mid-afternoon snack of cereal and granola with yogurt.

CIMG2338

Plus another half.

A mindless munch of the butt of the bread.

CIMG2343

PLUS, an entire box of Orange Tic Tacs.  Why??? I’m not sure.  It was MORE mindless eating in the car while sitting in traffic.

Dinner was slightly more balanced than my mid-afternoon super snacks…

CIMG2344

Baked BBQ tofu, broc, and roasted polenta with some pasta sauce on top.

I haven’t had polenta in so long, and this was very delish!  I  missed this yummy alternative.

CIMG2345

The Baked BBQ Tofu came out better this time because I only baked it for 25 minutes…. it was slightly crunchy, slightly chewy – perfect!

CIMG2346

Off to go watch Mr. President give his State of the Union address (or not-really a SOTU).  I’m so nervous for him….

is it terrible that i’m going to bed instead of watching the pres speak?!?!

  • foodsthatfit February 24, 2009, 7:10 pm

I bought it online at Amazon, and just rec’d it. I’ll let you know what I think about the 30 day shred!

  • VeggieGirl February 24, 2009, 7:12 pm

    Lovin’ the polenta!!

  • Mrs. LC February 24, 2009, 7:16 pm

I got mine at Walmart and know many people find it at amazon. Maybe check half.com too, for a super cheapo copy?

  • Krista February 24, 2009, 7:17 pm

    Hi Caitlin,
I just started reading your awesome blog and have never commented however, in regards to the Jillian Michaels 30 day Shred, if you have “On Demand” then you can go to Exercise TV under Jillian Michaels and view 30 day Shred 1 and 2. Just thought that might help until you can locate the DVD. Happy Running!

  • Matt February 24, 2009, 7:19 pm

Don’t feel lazy! I am sitting on my butt all night too!

  • Erica February 24, 2009, 7:26 pm

Ughhh I haven’t worked out in 5 days because of the move/illness. Cannot wait to get back moving. I feel like a slug 😉 Dinner looks good. I keep saying it, but I need to give polenta another go! Perhaps I will like the logs better than the homemade version!

  • Justine February 24, 2009, 7:26 pm

I was gonna say the same thing as Krista…if you have Exercise on demand, it’s there!

  • Ava February 24, 2009, 7:28 pm

Got the 30 day shred @ Target and it was pretty cheap. LOVE IT!

  • Laura February 24, 2009, 7:31 pm

Love polenta! It’s been too long since I’ve had it.

I’ve done the 30 Day Shred workout they have On Demand. I hope you find the DVD because it’s pretty good!

Obama is not giving a State of the Union – just speaking to Congress.

  • Lauren February 24, 2009, 7:36 pm

The 30 day Shred is a great workout. I use my Comcast On Demand (on my cable) and it offers all of her workouts for free. She also has a new one (Boost Metabolism) that is a 60 min combo of cardio, kick boxing, abs and strength. Very challenging but very effective!

  • Meg February 24, 2009, 7:42 pm

Love the tofu and polenta! YUM!

  • Mica February 24, 2009, 7:46 pm

That BBQ tofu looks amazing. Don’t feel lazy–you made an awesome dinner!

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point February 24, 2009, 7:52 pm

krista – thanks so much!! im going to look and see if i can find it 🙂

    anon – guess you’re right: http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5jKoyfpD9xz6lGUy8M_cb6nnkiuQQD96I6VG01

but my DVR called it a state of the union, so i guess the TV is wrong as well.

  • CarolynB~ February 24, 2009, 7:53 pm

I have the DVD and also use it from On Demand on cable. I have to say that I am very impressed with the work out and I felt results after the first 2 weeks. I am not a fan of DVD workouts, but I give this one HIGH marks!!

  • Beth February 24, 2009, 8:00 pm

I LOVE 30 Day Shred. It is a great toning and conditioning workout.

  • Emily February 24, 2009, 8:11 pm

I love how you call the end of the bread the butt. I usually call it the heel, haha.

  • Leila February 24, 2009, 8:11 pm

I have the 30 day shred, it’s not super super hard, but a good mix of strength training with cardio (because it keeps your heart rate up). I would also recommend Jackie Warners’ video, I find that super challenging a bit more fun than Jillian’s 30 day shred.

Saw someone recommended trying Amazon, I totally second that, they have videos super cheap and I think free shipping if you spend a certain amount.

    Good luck on your search.

  • Anonymous February 24, 2009, 8:11 pm

I think mine was wrong too. Maybe everyone loses track after so many speeches!

  • Kimberly February 24, 2009, 8:20 pm

He knocked it out of the park!

Yay for polenta… have you tried it as a pizza base? Awesome.

  • inmytummy February 24, 2009, 8:21 pm

I just bought that DVD from Amazon today on my lunch break! It was only like $11 with shipping.

  • luckytastebuds February 24, 2009, 8:30 pm

You’re too cute being nervous for the president!! 🙂 I totally GET It when you mindlessly eat through a pack of STUFF and don’t even realize it! (I do it with mints ALL the time) GAHHHH. At least now there won’t be anymore left to munch on right? hehehee

By the way, I LOVE that tofu!!!

  • talieworld February 24, 2009, 8:44 pm

Love your dinner! especially the tofu. 🙂

  • Claire February 24, 2009, 8:49 pm

I’ve tried the shred…it’s good and TOTALLY made my muscles sore. Of course, I haven’t done consistent weight training in years (med schools has been bad for me in that area). I need to do it consistently…I mean, it’s only 20 minutes! I got mine at Target. I want to try her new video.

  • aron February 24, 2009, 9:03 pm

LOVE 30 day shred! hope you can find it soon 🙂

  • Kelly February 24, 2009, 9:08 pm

I’ve seen polenta in the store and wondered how to cook it. How exactly do you prepare it and do you know anything about preparing tempeh? Thanks!

  • One Healthy Apple February 24, 2009, 9:15 pm

I’m feeling super lazy since I haven’t been to the gym since for an entire week. I have heard great things about the shred but I can’t follow directions from the TV no matter how hard I try.

    Have a great night!

  • Amanda February 24, 2009, 9:25 pm

Get 30 Day Shred for sure!! (I hear Amazon.com has it). I got it for xmas and LOVE it! It only takes 20 minutes and is tough to get bored bc you don’t do the same thing for too long. I can definitely see a difference in my abs and only do this video, cardio at the gym, and yoga.

  • alessa February 24, 2009, 10:09 pm

i own the 30 day shred and really like it! i am kind of weird about working out in my house, but it definitely makes me sweat. it is one of the only workout dvd’s i actually use. i bought it on amazon, and would recommend it for sure.

  • HangryPants February 24, 2009, 10:26 pm

    I want a polenta log!

I think Biz (who got me my 30 day shred), got it from amazon.

  • ChickPea February 24, 2009, 10:27 pm

I think I just found a new use for my bottle of BBQ sauce…

  • Hallie February 24, 2009, 10:29 pm

How do you cook your tofu? That’s looks like exactly the tofu I want to make! I just bought tofu for the first time, and I’m kinda scared to prepare it.

  • peanutbutterandjuli February 24, 2009, 10:58 pm

I have the 30-Day Shred. Level 1 wasn’t enough of a challenge, but Level 2 definitely had me sweating up a storm! I recommend it if you can find it!

I want to try polenta. I’ve never had it. And looking at your dinner reminds me that I need some tofu in my life. For serious.

  • Sarah (lovINmytummy) February 25, 2009, 12:18 am

I’ve tried Jillian. Do you have On Demand? It’s on there under Sports and Fitness/Exercise TV.

Otherwise, I’d get it used off of Amazon.

Crap, I just realized everyone else said both of these things.

I got nothing. But love. For you.

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point February 25, 2009, 4:27 am

kelly – i think you can buy polenta cold (in a log) or as a powder (in a bag on the shelf). i have only bought log form, which i usually just slice and bake. sometimes i mash it up and then bake it. it’s really good, i recommend it!

i’ve never tried to make my own tempeh. 🙁 sorry!

hallie- buy extra firm or firm tofu. cut off the amount you want (like 1/2 or 1/3 of the block) and wrap it in paper towels. press the tofu between two plates for about 10 minutes to extract the juices. then, marinade it in BBQ sauce for another 10 minutes or so. (oh cut into smaller pieces first if you want). bake at 400 for 25 – 30 minutes and viola!

check out my recipes on the left hand of the blog, there is one callled “perfect tofu”. thats good, too!

  • JenBunny1025 February 25, 2009, 7:02 am

    Hey girl!
I have 30 Day Shred and it’s AWESOME! Level 1 is pretty easy, but Level 2 is actually kindof challenging for me. You definitely get a great workout, and it’s less than half an hour! Definitely worth the purchase. I bought mine online at Borders.com for $12 or so. Hope you find it!
p.s. what is your recipe for those amazing looking banana pancakes?!?!

  • lauren February 25, 2009, 7:17 am

I have done some of jillian michaels workouts through Exercise TV – On demand. They are free and a great way to try it out!!

  • sarah February 25, 2009, 7:44 am

I’ve had the video since about Christmas, and I really like it. Some days it feels really, really challenging! It’s on Amazon in case you’re interested. I really want to try some of her other videos, too.

  • Melissa February 25, 2009, 7:59 am

I love the 30 day shred! I ordered mine from Amazon as well. Definitely agree with some of the other comments that level 1 is pretty easy, but level 2 is pretty challenging! Good luck with that.

  • AshleyT February 25, 2009, 8:10 am

I call the ends of the bread “butts” also but my friends make fun of me b/c they call it the “heels” of the bread. haha

  • healthy ashley February 25, 2009, 8:11 am

I love how tiny you cut your tofu! I need to try that- I bet it adds more flavor to the tofu!

  • Rose February 25, 2009, 10:18 am

Your dinner looks VERY identical to mine from last night. Too weird…

  • MyRunningJourney February 25, 2009, 12:43 pm

I got the 30DS from Half.com last summer and incorporated it into some workouts. I just started doing it the way it was intended to be done (today was level 2, day 1), and it’s great for toning. I already see major differences, and I’ve only done it for 11 days so far. It’s perfect to do after a 3-4ish mile run.

  • Angie Eats Peace February 25, 2009, 5:49 pm

I have done the 30DS twice through, and use it some days, for strength training. I have a review in my blog.

  • seeleelive (for the love of peanut butter) February 28, 2009, 10:29 am
