Bumper Stickers!

in All Posts

I want to clarify one of my statements made on the Good, Bad, and the Ugly of Food Blogs post. When I said I delete negative comments, I did not mean "dissenting" comments. Some of you took this remark out of context — I do NOT delete opinions that differ from mine or constructively criticize; in fact, I ask for opinions about stuff on a semi-regular basis, and it would be muy boring if we all had the same opinion.

I delete comments such as "You are ugly" or "I hate you." These are negative comments with no value except to degrade me, so I delete them.

Onto your regularly scheduled blogging…

My mid-afternoon snacks consisted of the usual cereal, but without yogurt (we were all out). So, it was cereal-cereal. 🙂

And around 4:30 PM, I had some Amazing Grass mixed with almond breeze:

I thought the Berry flavor was pretty good – I tend to chug these things anyway, so I didn’t really notice.

And I had a Amy’s Kitchen healthy "pop tart." I wanted something sweet, but we don’t normally keep candy in the house… this did the trick!

Night job sucked. Not going to lie! I just wasn’t feeling it — in fact, I think I’m getting a little sick!

I ate the other half of my dinner around 8:45, which is when I got home:

I made a delicious black bean quesadilla with a Flat Out wrap, 1/2 cup of black beans, 1 serving of cheddar cheese, and some kale. I just folded over the wrap and pressed it in my George Foreman.

I HATE splitting my dinner into two portions like this (a snack around 4:30 – 5 and then the second half when I get home). It just is not as satisfying, but I can’t figure out a way around it (without chewing off my arm).

Meghann is coming over soon! I can’t wait to give her my "marathon gift":

A 26.2 bumper sticker! Every marathoner needs one. 🙂 I have a 13.1 sticker that I’m pretty damn proud of, too!

What bumper stickers do you have?

I have:

  • A 13.1 bumper sticker
  • A University of Pittsburgh sticker
  • A Obama-Biden sticker (!!)
  • And a "Mind the Gap" London sticker

  • burpandslurp May 28, 2009, 6:25 pm

I have no bumper sticker…because I just totaled my car! >___<
I can't believe ppl will actually write such things like that…the cruelty of some ppl astounds me!

  • spicygranola May 28, 2009, 6:25 pm

When I was living at home I had a lot of stickers on my beat up station wagon. I was headed out to work one day I found my mom scraping all of the stickers off my car. My parent’s were afraid someone would slash my tires or follow me to attack me. The only potentially offensive one was “well behaved women rarely make history”.

  • Erin May 28, 2009, 6:45 pm

I don’t have any bumper stickers.. just my bright green and oh so tacky ‘N’..nicely done, British Columbia. I’ve had years to get rid of it so I guess I can only blame me..

The TACKIEST bumper sticker I have ever seen is “If you’re going to ride my ass, at least pull my hair”. I couldn’t even laugh and just felt bad for the girl driving 😉

I saw this one the other day… “If you can see this, I’ve lost my trailer!!”

  • Nicole (anotheronebitesthecrust.wordpress.com) May 28, 2009, 6:45 pm

I’ve only got one bumper sticker and it says “Clean Energy- Let’s Make More!” It’s pretty cute 😀

  • Peanuts & Crackerjacks May 28, 2009, 6:46 pm

    Duquesne University Alumni
    University of Virginia
    Steelers symbol!!!

  • Rose May 28, 2009, 6:49 pm

Sadly, I don’t have any bumper stickers. I used to – but it got all funky so I took it off. Now I only have two stickers stating that I can park in my apartment building’s lot.

I do want a 13.1 sticker though. Need to find one that’s clingable…

  • Serena May 28, 2009, 6:51 pm

I can’t believe someone would write “you are ugly.” You’re gorgeous, don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.

I don’t comment a lot but I read your blog regularly. I agree that insults are uncalled for and people should state their opinion respectively, but I also think that ever since there have been writers, there have been critics, and that a lot of people in our generation grew up in this “there’s no last place, everyone gets a prize” kind of environment and it’s lowered our tolerance for respectful critique. The world isn’t always roses and chocolate. So I really respect your approach and your tolerance for different opinions, and totally agree that the haters should go to the internet trash can.

  • Heather May 28, 2009, 6:56 pm

I need to try some Amazing Greens!!! I really like the bars, but haven’t tried the drinks.

I actually just took all the stickers off my car, but I used to only have a school one, an Anti-W sticker and an Obama/Biden one. The sun faded all of mine so they went bye-bye.

  • Matt May 28, 2009, 6:57 pm

I have a Uiversity of Alabama sticker on my car. I think that’s it!

  • roseyrebecca May 28, 2009, 6:59 pm

Oh man! I have loads of bumper stickers on my car! Most of them deal with social, political, and environmental issues though so I don’t want to share and upset anyone!

  • Julie May 28, 2009, 7:04 pm

I have a bumper sticker of my boss’s name tucked in the back window. I work in a political type job, so I need to show my support. Also I think it helps when/if I get pulled over 😉

  • Emily May 28, 2009, 7:06 pm

I don’t agree with the rude comments either. At least you know you’re doing something right when they take their time to comment? Jealousy maybe?

I have a few bumper stickers. I have 3 school ones (one for each year)..if I take them off they leave the word void on my vehicle. I also still have my McCain-Palin sticker. I think that’s about all.

  • Meganerd May 28, 2009, 7:07 pm

Ok I honestly giggled when I saw that people say you’re ugly and i hate you. Do people seriously write that? Are they four year olds?? LOL (I would delete those too)

I have a “life is good” bumper sticker my mom sent me lol… and a 13.1 sticker!! I’m proud of mine, too!!

  • jane May 28, 2009, 7:07 pm

my dad has a shirt that says “mind the gap” on it! from london, obviously 😉

the car has SO many college stickers it’s funny- pitt, calvin college, westminster college, clayton college, and CCAC (community college). we also have a george mason and chatham sticker we haven’t yet added haha. what can i say, my sisters and i have had lots of transfers in our college careers….

  • sloank May 28, 2009, 7:15 pm

Do people really write “you are ugly”?? Not going to lie, I got a good laugh out of that haha. I LOVE the bumper sticker idea for Meghann!!! Totally necessary!!! And your dinner (part 2) looks restaurant quality… not gonna lie, I did drool!

  • Pete&Liesl May 28, 2009, 7:16 pm

Are you proud of your Obama-Biden sticker now?
I’m always afraid that the stickers won’t come off, so the only one I have on my car is so that I can enter any State Park in WI. Sad you have to pay to go to state parks.

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point May 28, 2009, 7:18 pm

yes someone seriously told me i was ugly once. i think the quote was “you are going to be an ugly and hideous bride.” LOL. i think they WERE 12 years old.

pete – of course im proud!!

  • healthy ashley May 28, 2009, 7:30 pm

I love that sticker!! I have a 13.1 and love it! I also have a Jesus fish. I used to have a McCain sticker, but we know what happened with that.. 🙂

First thing I will do after finishing my marathon (!!!!!) is get a 26.2 sticker!

  • Sarah (LovIN My Tummy) May 28, 2009, 7:33 pm

I have two custom made bumper stickers: “I hate Caitlin” and “Caitlin is ugly.”

Tee hee. You know I love you and think you are red hot.

  • Kimberly May 28, 2009, 7:33 pm

I am always so impressed when I see someone with a 26.2 sticker!

I have a New York University decal for my alma mater and an Obama Biden sticker. My sister has one that says “A little bit of blue in a very red state.”

  • meegie lee May 28, 2009, 7:40 pm

    i have:

    “compost happens”
    “university of texas at austin”
    “wheatsville coop”
    and a longhorn symbol.

    also, an obama/biden magnetic sticker… 🙂

  • Hi! I'm Erin May 28, 2009, 7:40 pm

I have a 13.1 sticker that says “Been there. Run that.” I also have a Darwin fish. That’s it. My license plate frame has my undergraduate alma mater on it.

My husband (who is an IT guy) has one that says “No, I will not fix your computer.”

  • teacherwoman May 28, 2009, 7:52 pm

When I had my old car, I had a Unniversity of North Dakota bumper stick on it. I have another favorite on my old Nalgene bottle from the Summit at Whitefish Ski Resort. Oh the memories!

  • Bec May 28, 2009, 7:52 pm

my dad wont allow me to put bumper stickers on my car but I am sure Megan will love hers!

  • Holly May 28, 2009, 8:17 pm

    Hey Caitlyn,

I’ve been reading your blog for a couple of months now. I don’t comment unless something really hits me. I commented earlier today about the ED/food thing. Anyway, don’t pay attention to negative comments. There are so many people in life who only want to get you down. I can’t believe someone would say you are ugly or anything ridiculous like that. First, you are BEAUTIFUL and second, you are soooo smart. Keep up the good work. Sorry you had a tough day. There are a lot of people out there who look up to you! Thanks for all you do!

  • Niki May 28, 2009, 8:17 pm

I keep telling myself once I run a full marathon I will get that bumper sticker! Best present you could get her!!

  • Claire May 28, 2009, 8:22 pm

Ummm…does a parking sticker count? The only other one I have is a Cubs sticker! Gotta love em…though they can’t seem to decide they want to win. Hope you feel better!

  • Susan May 28, 2009, 8:35 pm

I have a 26.2 sticker, but I’m not sure how I feel about putting it on my car. My family always stayed away from those “My kid is an honor roll student at ______ School,” so I never put any other bumper stickers on cars. Since my car is only about three weeks old, I’m still kind of attached to the “new” look. Maybe I’ll get around to it one day!

  • Christina May 28, 2009, 8:56 pm

    I have a Pitt sticker too 🙂

  • TinaGirl May 28, 2009, 9:21 pm

26.2 like the one you got your friend, I have 2 different IAFF sticker (International Association of Fire Fighters) for my hubby. 1 remember those we lost 9/11 fire fighter sticker too. My license plate cover says “26.2… I run marathons” that my hubby gave me for christmas with my sticker and a runner girl coffee(tea) mug.

  • Leah @ Simply Fabulous May 29, 2009, 1:27 am

I didn’t even know there was such a thing as a 13.1 bumper sticker!! I want to get one for my upcoming half…seriously, where do you get them??

Sorry the job sucked tonight.. just keep reminding yourself, it’s not forever!

  • Hope May 29, 2009, 3:19 am

I never, ever put stickers on my car.

However, I began running last October and finished my first event – a half marathon! – in April.

I promised myself that if I finished that half marathon, I would reward myself with a 13.1 sticker.

    And so I did, proudly.

Now, a runner at work is making fun of me for it. Apparently he thinks I’m slow and that a HALF marathon is nothing to be proud of. I don’t know what his problem is.

  • Katie May 29, 2009, 3:59 am

    Hi Caitlin,
So sorry about the negative comments! I have to tell you that I have over 40 blogs in my google reader and I always look for new posts from you first. I love how you write about a variety of things including your food, personal life, and exercise, but you also write about important health topics and share great information. I also love your blog because I feel like you are one of the most REAL bloggers out there.

Anyway, the other reason why I am commenting is because I know you read Runners World and I was wondering you saw a recent article about the 'Athlete's Food Pyramid'. The article can be found here: http://askthesportsdietitian.runnersworld.com/2009/05/a-food-guide-pyramid-for-athletes.html?cm_mmc=nutrition-_-2009_05_28-_-nutrition-_-BLOG%3a%20Ask%20the%20Sports%20Dietitian. I was just wondering what you thought about it. As a very active runner and biker I definitely think we have different nutritional needs than the average person. I thought it was pretty interesting how they had beverages at the bottom followed by fruit and vegetables, and I thought you would like how they have animal products towards the top. Just curious about your thoughts on this…

    p.s. I have 2 bumper stickers: Penn State Alumni & 26.2 🙂

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point May 29, 2009, 4:20 am

katie – thanks for sending me that link!! that pyramid looks very cool and i think it’s probably pretty accurate. my fav thing about long distance running was how much freaking carbs i got to eat. LOL.

thanks for your sweet comment as well. i appreciate it more than you know!

  • MaryBe May 29, 2009, 5:20 am

That is so sweet that you got that for Meghann! But I have to ask – did she think you jinxed her??
I only have a few stickers…my NYS Parks Pass, one from the Georgia Sea Turtle Center on Jekyll Island, a Key West Sticker, and 2 from the Thousand Islands Region of NY where our cottage is

  • Caitlin at Healthy Tipping Point May 29, 2009, 5:25 am

mary be – no she doesnt need any luck – we both know she’s going to finish!!! 🙂

  • Krista May 29, 2009, 5:47 am

People actually comment that they hate you or that you are ugly??? Were these people never taught manners? Good Lord, I’m shocked at the rudeness!

PS…I have no bumper stickers although with the current rust situation on my van maybe I should invest in some to hide it!! 🙂

  • Jordan May 29, 2009, 5:53 am

I don't have any actual "bumper stickers" on my new car, but I did put my swallow stickers [to match my tattoos] on the windshield, as I do with every car I've ever owned. I also got a Dane Cook SuFi sticker, a "Team Edward" sticker, a Famous Stars & Straps "F" sticker, and the apple from Twilight sticker. They're all on windows/windshield though, so idk if you wanna count those =]

  • elliebelle May 29, 2009, 7:16 am

I don’t have any bumper stickers, just a window decal from the University of Minnesota…

And I cannot believe somebody would tell you that you are ugly!!! You are such a beautiful girl, and so honest and friendly. Some people are so rude.

  • Joy May 29, 2009, 8:41 am

I only have a CC for cape cod, looks exactly like that one (white oval with black letters) plus my parking sticker for school.

  • kelsey May 29, 2009, 8:55 am

Where did you get that awesome bumper sticker!? 🙂

  • Katherine May 29, 2009, 9:07 am

Yay for Pittsburgh!! I’m a native Pittsburgher and went to Carnegie Mellon. My husband and I share my car now so, since we both went there, we have a CMU Alumni sticker. We also have a pair of Steelers dice that we put in the back window when we’re back in the ‘Burgh. Unfortunately, I lived in Boston for the past 6 years so I was afraid to advertise my Steelers pride too much, in case some Patriots fans came along and didn’t like what they saw!

The 13.1 and 26.2 stickers are awesome. I was lucky that I completed a full and a half marathon with Team in Training so they gave us shiny new pins with 13.1 and 26.2 on them and they are pinned to one of my gym bags 🙂

  • seesaraheat May 29, 2009, 9:39 am

I just bought a 13.1 sticker but I haven’t put it on my car yet! I used to have a car covered in stickers when I was in high school and early college but now my car has none and I’m a little gun shy, haha. I will put it on there though, I’m so proud of it!

  • Erin May 29, 2009, 11:58 am

    ohhh bumper stickers!!

    i have a
    South Carolina palm tree sticker..
    and “Elon University” sticker
    a “Hilton Head Island” sticker
    and a “C of C Girl” sticker!

  • trustingmyintuition May 29, 2009, 3:51 pm

I have that same 26.2 bumper sticker! I’m sure she loved it!!!

  • Erin of Care to Eat May 29, 2009, 9:50 pm

Do people really leave you comments like that? What freakin’ losers!
I had a Peace is Patriotic from 2004 to 2006 but it got straight faded so I took it off.
