Last night, I went out with my friend Brandi – sans kids!  We’re normally ‘mom friends’ so this was a big deal.  We couldn’t stop joking about how lovely it was to actually finish thoughts and sentences with each other.  Hah.

We got pedicures.  I have not gotten a pedicure in… man, I don’t even know how long.  It felt pretty awesome to have my feet rubbed.

And then we headed to Whole Foods to get a hot bar dinner.  I felt like I got a bit of almost everything – the grilled pineapple was good.  The tofu curry was not.  Bah.

I came home and collapsed on the couch.  It’s nothing out of the ordinary for 25 weeks with a toddler, but I’m tired.  My body is busy.  My back constantly hurts a lot from the pull of the bump. I ripped a seam in my maternity jeans on Saturday. None of my bras fit (which is ridiculous). I’m starting to get heartburn and carpal tunnel and all those fun nearing-the-third-trimester symptoms. I also just think it’s harder to be pregnant at 30 than it was at 27 – those three years have made a big difference.

And the second pregnancy is weird.  The first time around, I was so hyper-focused on being pregnant that it’s all I really thought about.  I’m just in love and excited about this kiddo than I was for Henry, but the pregnancy itself is way, way down on my list of thoughts… until I realize how uncomfortable I am!  The weeks have flown by so fast that I often don’t realize just how pregnant I am.  I can’t imagine what happens when you’re having your FIFTH baby…

If you’re a mom, when did you get “over” being pregnant?  I’m over it now – I just want to hold my baby in my arms.  Or are you a good pregnant person who loves it the entire time?

Okay… onto breakfast!

This was actually breakfast number 2 – I woke up at 5:00 AM to get work done and ate a peanut butter sandwich while I typed away.  This meal took just as long to prepare and was even more satisfying!

The secret ingredients:  frozen spinach, frozen corn (there’s a sweet roasted corn from Trader Joe’s that I love), shredded carrots, eggs, and a glob of Earth Balance (or you could use butter or coconut or olive oil).

All you do is put the frozen veggies in a greased wok or pan until they are warm, and then crack the eggs (I used three) right on top.  Mix it in, add the butter, and cook until the eggs are done.  SO EASY – and you only mess up one pan.  Winning!

I hope you carve out some time for yourself today.  <3  Have a fabulous Tuesday!

That egg scramble looks SUPER delicious!!! I love easy one-pan meals like that that are just packed with veggies!

My idea of an awesome night with my friends is totally a pedicure and Whole Foods without the kids! Perfect combo! And I love cooking frozen veggies in the pan for a quick meal. Love the Trade r Joe’s frozen sweet corn!

I’m over the first trimester….I want to hit that sweet spot where you have a cute bump but not anxiously waiting for the baby to come. I am excited about this baby and love it, but I just dont feel as connected with it as I did with my first… probably because Im so focused on my son right now. I am also 30 now…I was 27 with the first. This time Im trying to stay alot more fit i hope that helps with the aches and pains.

A Whole Foods dinner date sounds awesome!

And, if I have kids, it won’t be until I’m 31-35. Don’t scare me.

I’m 34 weeks with #2 and stay home with my two year old and have been over being pregnant…pretty much the whole time. I loved it last time and I am really trying to savor this pregnancy, because it may be my last (we aren’t sure how many kiddos we want) but it is hard. I’m certainly thankful because I know so many people that would love to be able to be pregnant right now, but I just can’t wait to meet this little boy.

But this time around…I’m also more aware of how CRAZY having a newborn is, so…. haha.

Just wanted to point out your usage of the words “good pregnant person.” I don’t think there should be labels on these things, and from reading your other blog posts, I don’t think you do either. Every pregnant person experiences things differently, and each persons experience is valid and acceptable. Neither good nor bad. Labels just happen to make people feel bad. No need for that!

    • Andrea August 19, 2014, 12:44 pm

I believe she was being sarcastic

      • Arielle August 19, 2014, 4:49 pm

Not at all. Sorry that you took it the wrong way.

  • Verna August 19, 2014, 9:58 am

I’m not a good pregnant person. I usually have almost all the normal symptoms and it is hard to be pregnant when you get older, I think. I was 30 with my last one and it was tough. Having two little ones running around probably didn’t help. 😉 I do try to enjoy pregnancy as much as I can. It really is such a short time and you only get so many chances to enjoy it. I try to focus on the enjoyable parts and savor each little kick or hiccup as much as I can.

Pedicures are a necessity…esp now that I’m a mom. It’s one of the things that really relaxes me!!! 🙂

  • Lauren J @ The Barn August 19, 2014, 10:07 am

I am nearing 34 weeks and I am definitely over it. And this is my first. My pregnancy hasn’t been bad at all, but I’m way less fascinated with the pregnancy part, and way more ready to meet little one and jump into the whole parenting thing. I’m so ready to have my body back and not feel like free willy trying to get out of the bed 🙂

  • Mrs SPB August 19, 2014, 10:24 am

I’m 38 weeks preggers with no. 2 and it has FLOWN by! I feel soooooo done but also not ready for baby to actually be here! I love being pregnant but am so uncomfortable now and I am trying to soak in every scrap of my son whilst he’s still an only. Plus he’s now sick so not the best time to add a newborn to the mix. Hoping to get one more weekend of just the three of us then I’ll be ready (as I’ll ever be!) Wishing you lots of comfort – don’t forget to rest! Xxx

  • jillian August 19, 2014, 10:29 am

my girlfriend is 33 and on baby #5!!!! all the kiddos are under 5 too! I cannot imagine! (and i’m childless, so i really can’t imagine!). She bumps around that bump like it’s no big deal! 🙂

  • Nicole August 19, 2014, 10:42 am

I’m 31 weeks with our second kiddo and I feel the exact same way–bigger, more uncomfortable and way more tired. When asked how I felt at my last OB visit I told her, “Well, the pregnancy miserables have started,” and I just left it at that. Pretty much sums it up!

  • Annie August 19, 2014, 10:53 am

Almost 25 weeks with #2 (girl)…and have an almost one year old (girl) at home. I hear you – my lower back has put me into tears several times during this pregnancy. I don’t know how I’m going to last another 14 weeks. The only thing that helps is laying on my sides – so I look forward to bed the MOMENT I wake up in the morning! YIKES! 🙂

  • Rachel August 19, 2014, 11:12 am

I’m 32 weeks with #2 and just in the last week or two, I am way over it. The whole pregnancy I kept thinking “this is so much easier than last time, I feel great!” and then I hit the 3rd trimester. I forgot how uncomfortable it is. And I still have 8 more weeks!!

  • Healthhold August 19, 2014, 11:17 am

I don’t think I’ve ever had grilled pineapple, pretty keen to try it sometime!

  • Nicole @ Squash on Squash August 19, 2014, 1:26 pm

Looks delicious! I also love Trader Joe’s roasted corn. I debated whether or not to buy it because it’s a little more expensive than their other frozen corn packages, but am glad I spent the extra little money. I’ve used it in burritos, and bean/corn salads, and it’s awesome!

  • JenP August 19, 2014, 3:35 pm

When I was pregnant my first, I couldn’t wait to have him. I wanted my baby! When I was pregnant with my second, I knew how much easier the kid was inside than out. LOL I was content to wait.

    • Caitlin August 19, 2014, 5:36 pm

Hahah that’s true – no crying inside your belly.

Friend Dates are the Best! I love just hanging out with a girlfriend and getting a mani/ pedi or going for a walk 🙂

  • Ashley August 19, 2014, 4:45 pm

Oh man, I never really liked being pregnant. I had health problems that made it high-risk so that was probably a lot of it, but I’d always imagined myself being such a cute little preggers and I was…lol….not so much! : )
This is off topic, but I was looking for one of your old posts and cannot find it for the life of me!! You were talking about balance and “having it all” and had pointed to an article someone wrote on how “having it all” is really a myth and you have to pick and choose throughout life (like you can “have it all” with fitness/work at one point, then later you might “have it all” with house/family, and so on). I really found it inspiring and wanted to re-read but can’t find it for the life of me!

    • Caitlin August 19, 2014, 5:36 pm

Oh man I don’t remember! I wish I did because I would sure love to re-read it for a personal reminder 🙂

  • Alex @ True Femme August 19, 2014, 5:33 pm

I can’t imagine how exhausting it is being pregnant and having a toddler to care for! I hope you don’t experience much more pain or uncomfortableness the next few months! Also–grilled pineapple sounds amazing!

  • Ashley August 19, 2014, 5:38 pm

Take care of yourself Mama 🙂 You’re doing an awesome job, don’t know how you do it all!

  • Lori August 19, 2014, 5:41 pm

I’m due with my 2nd…TOMORROW!!! The first time, I loved every minute of it and never wished for it to be over (he was born 2 days b4 due date). This time, not quite the same. I’ve been over it for a while now. The back pain from caring for a toddler while pregnant is no fun. And overall it just feels a little harder on me physically. The pressure in my pelvic area is way worse than last time, I guess just because everything isn’t as high and tight as it was the first time. But, I’m cherishing these last days and trying to go with the flow (which is hard when everyday, everyone is like “still pregnant, huh?”. 🙂

  • Ashley M. [at] (never)homemaker August 19, 2014, 5:49 pm

I am already over being pregnant again and haven’t even TTC yet. 🙂 Hahaha

  • Katie August 20, 2014, 7:37 pm

Meant to add this to my last comment. I had fit couture spandex shorts to work out in for like 7 years. They were always perfect for spinning (run a little small FYI). Anyway I’ve worn them all pregnancy. Because they are fold over I just don’t fold it over and wear it over the bump. I haven’t had to buy any new preg work out clothes. I highly recommend these since you said your shorts are getting right. Especially because you can keep wearing them after. I have one in every color! They get more comfortable the more you wear them too

  • Reghan August 22, 2014, 7:14 am

I’ve pretty much been over being pregnant the whole time. Second pregnancy is so much harder!! I was really over it at 30 weeks when the carpal tunnel kicked in along with some sciatica pain and now at 38+3 I’m REALLY over it and can’t wait to meet my baby and never be pregnant again!!! 🙂

  • Kellie August 22, 2014, 1:44 pm

Eh! I had pregnancy-induced carpal tunnel for my son. My hands swelled up so bad I couldn’t hold a pen and couldn’t bend my fingers/wear my rings. It does go away after the baby (took a while) but I feel for you! and there is never anything they can do for it!

  • Cristal August 26, 2014, 9:46 pm

I will be 28 weeks on Friday and can relate so much to your feelings in this post. I have a 3 yr old daughter and am a teacher so I have been home with her all summer. I am definitely more tired this time around. I also agree that being pregnant at 27 is harder than 31. My body just doesn’t feel very good this time. I am ready to hold this baby 🙂 Good luck with the 3rd trimester!
